  • Your in Park right? Then what’s the problem go get the idle adjusted, this video makes you seem like you know nothing about cars. Now by the title you make it sound like we have another Toyota thing going on but with Honda. Really this video makes you seem like your trying to slander Honda, expensive mistake if the wrong guy sees this.

  • Lol! pointless, I can see his foot is on the brake and acceleration at the same time before I read the video description, I'm like wtf this dude trying to do brake & hold the acceleration at 5k?

  • lol, dumb ass. lol he is pressing on the gas. if you got out the car and showed nothing near the pedals i would have believed you

  • In the video you can clearly see your foot pressing gas and brake at the same time, so i don't know what the point of this video is..

  • Automakers these days !

  • Wow screw fly by wire!! wow what will "engineers" do next? get rid of the whole rack and tie-rods and make servo controlled steering knuckles? Ill keep my old beaters , thank you!

  • Stupid

  • dumbass looking at the video i still see your foot on the accelerator! while holding the brake pedal... dummy!

  • @Shotarakayama that is what i was gonna say

  • the honda wants to be a toyota!!!!

  • made in america.....

  • he is still pushing on the gas... you can see it when he shows his foot that a part of it is on the gas...

  • THIS is why we should get rid of the bullshit electric throttle. Were driving death machines designed by our enemies. This kind of stuff doesnt happen with cable throttled cars.

  • @communistUtube it could though, especially in vehicles that had a defect, like the first gen kia sedonas

  • this is so obviously fake.

  • Products liability defense attorneys don't sue manufacturers if they value their jobs. Here, there are no serious damages so a lawsuit would be pointless. Sure, there's a downturn in the economy, but that doesn't make this incident a decent claim, even for hungry plaaintiff's attorneys.

  • Every one need to stop looking at the gauge but instead focus on the camera. The needle move, the camera move, the needle stop, the camera stop. Hint hint.

  • Does anyone else find it quite amusing that over 500 unintended acceleration cases have been filed since that first lexus and prius incident?

  • @wongmylesa

No. Most reasonable people would think "OMFG!" if it happened, and then move on. However, now knowing that there is an outlet for their concerns, people are going through the proper channels.

    Again, no, not surprising.

  • @bg1379 Look, anyone who has their car nearly slam them into a tree, or take them into a lake... Would sue the manufacture of the vehicle.

The real reason for the extreme cases is......... Its a recession... Any way for ANYONE to make a few million EASILY... They will do it.

If you had 4 kids. A mortgage. And an 07 Toyota Camry... And a $15000/yr job at mcd's... You would damn well try to claim unintended accel... Even if you drove A Honda insight!

    You know that makes sense...

  • @wongmylesa

You could say that LITERALLY about any consumer good. Literally.

  • @wongmylesa Trust me, we don't need the money. I'm a products liability defense attorney and would never sue an auto manufacturer.

  • @keyrats201 -_- You would be... Now wouldn't you?

WE ARE IN A RECESSION! NO MATTER HOW YOU LOOK AT IT!

98% Of Americans have been affected by that!

This makes no sense... Your bullshitting

  • FAIL

  • Another point to make would be that if you sold the car, how in the hell did it pass an inspection with that issue? If it was indeed a defect on the vehicle, something would have tripped a diagnostic code, because the ECM (engine control module) is indeed tied into the diagnostic system. It's just interesting how all this happened...and in one instance on each car. I'd have kept the vehicle to see if it happens again. And I know near me pack rats can chew thru wiring, so maybe another psblty?

  • Here's a question for you too, at the beginning of the video (between 0:00 and 0:01) you can hear what seems to be the engine revving up to around 5,500 RPM, yet the tach was already bouncing off the 5500 mark. I think the electronics were messed with on this car, and since you didn't show the left part of the floor, where if you were purposefully messing with the electronics, you'd have something plugged into the wiring near the OBD port.

  • @cjf2012 if thats the case, why was the camera jerking around then like it was from the engine bouncing off the limiter throughout the entire video?

  • lol I understand people lie about stupid things. but i dnt really think this guy is kiddin around. the probability of this happening is actually quite high considering all the electronic parts in the car that can malfunction that control acceleration. I had a Grand Cherokee that had a faulty ECM (Engine Control Module) that had a similar problem. besides you could alwayz have someone pull the throttle cable under the hood to simulate this effect. y push the gas and brakes with 1 foot.

  • hmm, why is the top of your foot leaning to the right?

  • We reported the problem to NHTSA and at their request provided the video to their investigators. No modifications. We were the original owners.

  • @keyrats201

You are correct. My foot is "leaning to the right". However, it would take real acrobatics and a very long foot to press the brake and the accelerator at the same time. If you freeze frame it you'll see the accelerator is not touched, and to reach 5000 RPMS it would have to be depressed pretty hard. Neither Honda nor NHTSA have suggested the accelerator pedal was being pressed down. Look at the other NHTSA reports - - same expereince.

  • Bad problem. I had a '06 also before but in CA.. never had this issue. Did you report the issue the NHTSA??

Has the vehicle ever been in an accident?

    Modification done to car?

    You are the original owner?

  • @netman88

Reported to NHTSA. They assigned a special investigator. No accidents. Am original owner. Read all the NHTSA reports on this car.

  • that's so weird. my mom's best friend bought a brand new Acura MDX in 2006 that had this problem (Acura is made my Honda, and I assume the MDX and Pilot are related).

  • I hope you realize that "flooring" the car, or having it in open throttle, would redline the engine, not just 5,000rpms.

  • @cjf2012

Honda's have a rev limited, thats why its bouncing off 5500 rpm so it appears that the throttle is to the floor. However, you can see in the video this guys foot is slightly touching the accelerator. He may not be flooring it but its on it. You should have moved your foot completely off the brake pedal. It wont go anymore if its in park.

  • @xoquixxoqafxo Yes Hondas do have a rev limiter, I own one I know this. But the rev limiter only kicks in after the car is in the redline, not before. Hell if Hondas had a limiter at 5500RPM I would have known about it by now, my V6 Accord travels into that territory pretty often. I'm just saying that if the car was floored the revs would be higher...idk what's going on with this guy's Pilot but something's fishy.

  • @cjf2012

This early limiter kicks in at 5500 revs bc the car is in park, it will also do that in neutral. There is no limiter (until past redline) when the car is in drive accelerating, but if you rev almost any honda in park or neutral it will usually be limited to about 5000 revs. You are right about this guys Pilot, something is very fishy about it... does this car even have an e-throttle?

  • @xoquixxoqafxo That's odd...I've redlined mine in park or neutral. I guess since it's older it doesn't have an early limiter. And it's looking like starting with MY 2005 Pilots had an e-throttle. The thing is that like that one professor's bogus investigation into Toyota's unintended acceleration issues, it's possible to induce this problem with a rewiring of the system, which, if this guy was seeking compensation from Honda, would be a possible way to "prove" the problem. Strange, though.

  • @cjf2012

What year is your Accord? Mine is a 2001 V6 and its got it and I know my friend's 2000 V6 also had it.

  • @xoquixxoqafxo Mine's a 1998 LX V6. 191,000 miles and still does 0-60 in under 7 seconds lol.

  • @cjf2012 I would have no idea how to rewire the system and certainly never would modify a vehicle to create grounds for some sort of lawsuit. I'm a products liability defense attorney, not a plaintiff's attorney. I would never sue an auto manufacturer and if I ever did there sure better be some genuine serious personal injury involved, not an implied warranty claim that wouldn't be worth more than the depreciated value of a 3-4 year old car. We weren't alone by any means. See the NHTSA site.

  • Neutral moron. And your foot was on the gas too.

  • The car almost crashed in drive. We weren't about to put it in neutral just to get a video. And no, I am not a moron. My foot was on the brake - - which is how we stopped the car from crashing. I would have had to floor the accelerator to get the tach up to 5000 rpms, and if you carefully examine the video you will see the accelerator was not floored.

  • @alexlam24 just to let you know, check the lights on the dash, they were in park. Observe before calling people morons, and you can tell the guy on the video did not even touch the gas pedal.

  • You're absolutely right. As my narrative description says, we put the transmission in park, with my foot firmly on the brake. Then I pulled out a camera to record the event because I knew others arguably would be skeptical (like Honda) but the video speaks for itself. I'm still without any explanation of what happened from the dealer or Honda. How is it possible that we were at 5000 rpm in park and not touching the accelerator?

  • Also, please review the NHTSA complaints for 2005 - 08 on the Pilot. They are remarkably similar. Experts see a correlation in the introduction of Drive by Wire in the Pilot to the increase in SUA complaints.

  • keyrats201, and why has this NEVER been reported for a manual transmission car?

  • Comment removed

  • @saregan1 We didn't have problems with three Pilots for nearly four years. One theory Customer Service suggested was corroded throttle plates in salty air environments such as Florida where we live.

  • @saregan1 Spoiled

  • To TheVidRater007, what do you mean to say?

  • @keyrats201 I was replying to another comment made by seregan1

  • @keyrats201 Yeah I have an '03 Element with non-electronic throttle control and I like it much better than any drive-by-wire sytem I've ever tried. Even the BMW system feels disconnected and lagging unless you floor it. Trusting something important like the throttle to software is just scary.
