I'm surprised that no one mentioned the Japanese being portrayed as monkeys. Like I said, those who don't know history will be surprised every day of thier lives. The old Popeye cartoon was an anti-axis (Japanese/German) WWII propaganda piece - NOT a pro-nazi piece (sheeeesh!) . Using it as a backround against the Melvins music was brilliantly surreal.
the old popeye cartoons were made during wwII so they are definatly anti nazi propaganda think about it just a little before you make tomany judgements about shit you dont have a clue about
Put it in context dude, the first swastika's exploding, the second's behind a goofy looking characature of Hitler. I don't hink this contains a Nazi message at all
could be caus the cartoon is a propaganda symbol for world war 2!! maybe only guessin here.. propaganda is a very strong tool in conveying a message!!
This is what happens when metalheads don't learn history! Disney was NOT pro-nazi - These cartoons are WWII ANTI-NAZI propaganda made by Disney and others. Popeye was originally created by the Fleisher Bros and later sold to another company (MGM I think). Oh yeah, and the Melvins (fellow Northwesterners) kick arse.
One of the fucking greatest bands ever...I'm completely sure of that. Melvins were never concerned with image or wealth, or any shit like that. And they're music fucking ruled! That's why...
You know, I'm a progressist metalhead, I love Opeth and the likes, but I'd rather listen to this song and watch this awesome video again than listen to other ten minutes of a Dream Theater song. The merit of this goes to Melvins and to the creator of this video. Really good stuff. Hail to The Melvins and King Buzzo.
This song is FUCKIN' CRAZY! One of their best for sure. 1:35 of pure headbanging fury! I love the drumming, the riffs, the beginning with the off-meter time signature (which is, I think, a 4/4 with a missing 1/8 at the end of each verse, so a 23/8 or something) the build-up that begins 0:51, where the bassline gets more intense, the chorus, that is really fun to sing along, the end, that resembles the chugging of a train, the King's voice, of course. And the Popeye's video fits inexplicably well!
i think becus there was war and everything bad was associated with the nazi;s so its easy to take a sign like that. there are some cartoons from daffy duck vs nazis too. i think they made different vids later because it was offending.
but ehm back to topic, awsome song ^^ got it from thug2 too
The swastika is a bad sign at all. It was used way before thw world wars. Everybody just connects it to Adolf, and that's not good. Melvins are a great band!
That was amazing.

what the fuck did you expect? Pink Floyd?
flyingvkusanagi 3 years ago
I don't get it. Why are you talking about Pink Floyd?
aerogun17 3 years ago
'cause you were talking about it being too short, and Pink Floyd's got some long-ass songs (e.g. Shine on You Crazy Diamond)
flyingvkusanagi 3 years ago
Oh, so is it normal to a song to be only 1:35?
aerogun17 3 years ago
it gets the point across in time. you dont need a generic 3minute song for it to be good. barely any of my songs last longer than 2minutes
SinLF6662001 3 years ago
fuck man S.O.D got their point across in about 5 seconds with HEY GORDY. But It does not take long at all to get a point across.
gearhed1 3 years ago
true.
Napalm Death took only one second to get their point across, and still they rock.

The Melvins lack the 12 minute solos, and the "serious" edge that stop them falling into the shit hole that is the genre of metal.
