  • That video was recorded in l'escala, wasnt it?

  • ive seen one in galapagos islands it was a little bigger than a shark

  • @WhiteGlintfan you need to give the size and type of shark, saying it was bigger than A shark is pointless. Sharks come in all shapes and sizes, that's like saying ive seen one bigger than a car

  • Was that Randy Desakov?

  • i didnt know we had sunfish!

  • Who's that pokémon??

    It's Alomomola!

  • touch it

  • I saw these also, they weren't as big as this one, they were only about 20-50 lbs, we were fishing and out the back of the boat, there were a bunch of seagulls in the water, then we saw a fin sticking out of the water rite in the middle of the seagulls. So my brother grabbed his gopro video camera and got gr8 footage of them, there were about 10 of them, and u can see the video on my brother's channel (alilbitoeverything) it will b uploaded soon:)

  • i didnt know these swam in boring irish waters

  • @imnodoubtflatout Boring? I think not. Basking sharks are in Irish water. A sperm whale washed up just last week, Pilot whales, porpoises, dolphins, seals, Sea turtles, all just to name a few. I mean the expression "Right in our own back yard"

  • @AIanKenny cuz they get there by mistake lol only ones that properly live there is basking...

  • Fuck that I would stay on the boat

  • It's a giant floating head.

  • Gotta love a huge laxed out fish that just wants to see what you are!

  • To those asking about why he didn't cut the first 45-50 seconds, clearly none of you were humming the Jaws theme like you were supposed to.

  • fish: "ahhh just chillin....wha WHAT THE FUCK?!" *swims off*

  • It looks like a sideways turtle

  • lol love how he doesn't run away he's just like "oh hellooo lol

  • hahaha the sun fish looks like a wired sail boat :P

  • Finger, bubbles, splish-splash, clickety-clackety, what's that?, oh crap a gnarly big fish! Actually, these things get way huge! That looked like just a baby.

  • Damn thats a HUUUGE bit.....FISH!

  • LMAO at 0:23 he farted XD

  • Sunfish or Moonfish? This one appears to be dead!

  • @orangepeel1960 Its a Sunfish. They are called Sunfish because they tend to float sideways on the surface of the water and they look like the Sun. They are totally harmless and tend to be curious. But all in all they are cool

  • @USBornSoccerPlayer Thanks for that and I apologise, I didn't watch it all the way through.... it isn't dead! ;). I was diving in Spain recently and one swam right past me and above me (didnt have a camera! :( )

I was with French and Spanish divers and they called it a Moonfish which is how it translates from French and Spanish. But yes I've since found out that its a Sunfish in English.

  • looks like a swimming UFO

  • I love sunfish, they are so cute!

  • FFUUCCKK YYOOUU!!!!!!!!!

  • Ugliest fish on the planet. !!!!

  • lol it´s like Pokemon Snap xD

  • lovely creature... is it ever interesting... thanks. But why didn't you post only the part with the actual fish instead of 1 minute of water and me going ... uhhh, where's the fish??? :)

  • I love how awkward they look x) Were you diving? I'm just curious, how is the diving off Donegal? Is it worth doing or is it like "yeah sometimes you get awesome finds, but most of the time it's just murky water"

  • God sure had a hell of a laugh when he created this creature. I dare say this is worse than a platypus ^_^

  • thanks for sharing great footage

  • yeah in donegal, been fishing out of portrusn on the north coast loads of times and have seen them there before.

  • it escapes at 2:25 ^^;

but wow... nice catch! I really want to see them in real life! XD

  • IN DONEGAL????????????

  • looks small, i wonder how big?

  • my exact same question. But ive seen other videos and it looks like 3 times the size of adult humans. I really wonder if this camera is zoomed in or not

  • I can tell you that it estimated at 2.5 meter in diameter and the camers is not zoomed int at all

  • 2 tonnes. Largest bony fish in the world

  • fantastic stuff, check out my video off cornwall, not as good as yours though. The more you see of these fish the wierder they seem-as if they've been cut in half, stitched up,&healed up,then carried on as normal.

  • my eyes is too shiny

  • Those sounds are very appealing.

  • That fish must be like: What the FUCK are you looking at?!

  • remind me of pokemon

  • ok: remember pokemon?

  • It's a sunfish, don't look directly at it.

  • Damn,nice.

  • jajajajajajaj

  • why cant you lok at it????

  • @JKoss618 Ha c:

  • they are sooooo cool!

  • i saw one in cornwall

  • Very good video thx :)

  • That is absolutely amazing. You're so lucky! Saw one a few years ago but unfortunately had no camera! Good work.

  • sun fish are strange but cool

  • You lucky bugger! Nice moment to capture. Hope I get to swim near one, one day (and the way our summer's going it doesn't look like it'll be this year!).

From a video point of view though I don't know why you showed us the first 45-50 secs... they didn't really give me much sense of the story/event anyhow. Still, great shots of the fish itself.

I assume some of the clicking sounds were from the good old Irish lobsters doing their thing?

  • I dont have any video editing softwafe to shorten the video! I

  • Ah! That explains it. :-)

You could probably find some free (open-source) software online. There seem to be a fair few options for PC users if that's what you're on. If you're on a mac you'll have fewer to pick from though.

  • @ShaneyMc13 Actually youtube has a video editor that will allow you to do that, but it is fairly basic. Go to youtube and type /editor at the end of the url.

    Also, excellent sunfish video :)

  • @fearuisce T_T so yep aww i love it fish T_T

  • eeew the sounds in the backround are disgusting

  • _____I thought the background sound was somebody popping open a can of Guinness and drinking it. Well, somebody would HAVE to drink more than a few gallons of Guiness before they're feeling brave enough to go into the friggin' OCEAN! Look, there's nothing in the ocean but fish urine and things that want to eat humans. What's the point of going down there? Wow, you can look at the monsters before they kill. Save ocean exploration for the experts. We keep this up, we just might wake up Cthulhu.

  • that was the most retarded comment i have read in a while. good job egglesplork

  • They are actually bigger than a fully grown human.

  • ya not many humans grow 200lbs lol

The ocean sunfish, Mola mola, or common mola, is the heaviest known bony fish in the world. It has an average adult weight of 1,000 kg (2,200 lb).

  • i am never surfing again!!

  • why

  • did you watch this vid??? lol, what the hell is in the dinegal waters that i dont know of???

  • how big is that thing

  • they are huge

  • What the fuck IS that!!!! I've only ever dove in the carribean.. If I dove over there and that thing came along without proper prior warning being given pre-dive, I'd shit my wetsuit!

  • heeeee

  • Don't worry, they don't eat people! :D They can't close their mouths, so they can't chomp on you! Unless you stuck your arm down their throats. But I've seen one in real life, it was about 10 feet long... I hear they can weigh around 2500lbs...

  • wohoo great stuff with the sound of the bubbles I felt like i was there ! Sun Fish or Moon Fish I came close to one in Waters near waterford and was scared and thrilled by the strange giant !! *****

  • stumbled on this looking for clips about video art. have never seen or heard of one before. great stuff :)

  • Sunfishes are sooo creepy :S

    but they're sooo cool :D

I would love/not love to see one D:

  • Its so cool looking!

  • it's a pokemon

  • That's what they want you to think...

  • OMG! I wouldn't want to swim with that thing in the beach!!!

  • wat if they attacked u.

  • thers more life in fuckin bobby sands.hahaha

  • Ooooo....he looks like he'd fry up all nice and crispy! =P

  • One of my biggest fears is meeting big fish in the ocean. I guess of all fish to meet the mola mola would be one of the least hazardous. It looked like he wanted nothing to do with you!

  • respect 4 diving in that freezin sea...disgusting sound though
