Drums have a great effect, but he should be doing less of one and 5 beats and should add in some crazy jazz and funk beats to make it a little bit more energetic, especially in the chorus, you know, tapping up near the nut for a bell effect in some spots.
Sorry, just a musician griping when they're obviously fine the way they are, lol.

how did this video come about?

This stuff is really noice. I particularly like how David puts his beer down and then almost falls over as he stands up after the first song.

If only there was a "love" button. I'd click it infinitely. Thank you for creating beautful, heartfelt, passionate music.

I totally agree. It sounds incredible.
Cloudy3teen 2 years ago
@Blesshendrix every Pedro The Lion/David Bazan/Headphones song has the best/fattest/fullest snare sound.

@iLEE dude. tell me about it. man, i would give anything to be able to keep such perfect time and have such epicly tuned drums.
so much of my pondering goes into the snares in his projects. every day, i don't know why.
tight.

I love Walsh's drumming. Also, this song is like listening to a scene from a Cormac McCarthy novel.

in my opinion, the minimal style of tw walsh is simply amazing.
He knows how to put the kick in the right places and he knows how to keep "musical" the drum line.
One of my favorite drummers

Man, What a Kickass drum sound. Can anyone tell if it's a 20" or 18" Kick?
ppetracco 4 years ago
i agree, man. thats probably a 20", judging from the way the floor tom looks.
coitalcephalgia 4 years ago
yeah I'd say 20", the floor tom looks like a 14" because it seems to be the same diameter of the snare.

He actually made it from scratch using a few cereal boxes and the circuit board from a typewriter.
