I own and a 2001 prelude and I have raced a stock 325is, I can confirm that that BMW doesn't have a turbo. I wish I could stroke my car-peen and say the prelude is the faster car, but I would be wrong.

I own a 95 325is and I know that one does not have a turbo. Its just the intake. Stock U.S. 2.5L has about 190HP. If it had a turbo the lude would have lost by a lot more than that.

i had a 90 325is with mild head work done my ol lady had a 99 prelude we did a 60 punch to about 90 on the high she had that auto tiptronic tanny in her prlude i had a 4 speed auto in my bmw i did the same thing as this dudes bmw did i walked her 5 car links

what do 325i's run in a 1/4? I ran a 14.6 in my pretty much stock h22 lude. I beat my buddies 328 pretty badly. Prelude must not be running right, not have a h22, or is an autotragic. Only explanation.
I am sporting the same year, High flow cat , resonators cut and fit with straight pipes, cold air intake, HKS springs, no a/c compressor or condenser or lines!! My BMW pulled like three cars lengths in third on it!!!

@hokage51 I'm not quit sure of the weight difference, but my friend has the generation before that with an H22A swap with intake and exhaust, and my rebuilt 325i with basically the same mods is quite a bit quicker in most drops. Our closest is from 5mph. He gets me for a good 30-40 feet from a stand still though. Is your 95 OBDI or OBDII?

Both companies are capable of amazing power. In the end, it's about the car. NSX vs 850i seems like the race to be had.
@ghostmachin3 the last year the 850ci was made was 97 it has a 5.4L V12 322hp @5000 rpm & 361 ft-lb torque @3900 rpm. the NSX stopped production in 2005 and has a v6 aluminum block titanium internals 3.2L 290 hp v6, 290hp @ 7100rpm & 224 ft-lb of torque @ 5500 rpm. the bmw has more power but the nsx is way lighter so it would be pretty close and the nsx is mid engine so it would have better handling in some corners that front engine cars dont like hammerhead turns.

Honda 2001 prelude - 1/4 mile - 15.2 seconds.
325is Bmw -1/4 mile - 15.7 seconds.
In essence, the prelude will take the beamer. it won't off the dig because it's front wheel drive, however, also has a higher top speed of 152 as opposed to 141.

what do 325i's run in a 1/4? I ran a 14.6 in my pretty much stock h22 lude. I beat my buddies 328 pretty badly. Prelude must not be running right, not have a h22, or is an autotragic. Only explanation.

No honda is worthy of competing with a BMW. I have owned 3 and i have drivin hondas . I can tell you that hondas are slow..all of them.. the NSX dosnt even make over 300HP!.. (276) Yeah sure you can get 500 HP out of a civic but what are you going to do when the corners come?(crash).. OOPS!..Hondas are fuel savers. @hokage51 I'm not quit sure of the weight difference, but my friend has the generation before that with an H22A swap with intake and exhaust, and my rebuilt 325i with basically the same mods is quite a bit quicker in most drops. Our closest is from 5mph. He gets me for a good 30-40 feet from a stand still though. Is your 95 OBDI or OBDII?

Heck I beat a 1994 5.0 mustang gt with my 94 325is with only mod being a muffler soo I'm sure one would pown a prelude. Especially since my old 92 gt killed a h22 with header full exhaust and an intake my mustang had flowmasters that's it.

@Hellz420 I would not say ALL BMW's.. BMW as well has many engines with titanium internal components, many tuning companies also make parts capable of well over a thousand horsepower. Active Autowerks can build you a 1200 horsepower E36. Honda and BMW both have extensive race pedigrees. The long-time fastest car in the world McLaren F1 is powered by a BMW V12. Both companies are capable of amazing power. In the end, it's about the car. NSX vs 850i seems like the race to be had.

@ghostmachin3 the last year the 850ci was made was 97 it has a 5.4L V12 322hp @5000 rpm & 361 ft-lb torque @3900 rpm. the NSX stopped production in 2005 and has a v6 aluminum block titanium internals 3.2L 290 hp v6, 290hp @ 7100rpm & 224 ft-lb of torque @ 5500 rpm. the bmw has more power but the nsx is way lighter so it would be pretty close and the nsx is mid engine so it would have better handling in some corners that front engine cars dont like hammerhead turns.

@ghostmachin3 Here is an interesting fact.. the laws of physics takes away a FWD cars steering a over 400hp Ford found that out with their European Focus lol. and the 325 was replaced by the 328 after 95 for the e36 and was re introduced in the e46 (next generation) so the 325 is an obd1 and this is interesting.. in the 325 e36 you can tap the gas 5 times and the check engine light will blink codes out to you =) u hav to do it perfect thought there r directions online for it but hard 2 find

Its not a turbo at all or that lude would not even try a second pull...lol sorry but I owned a 98 lude with some mods, even a 55 shot of NOS, without the NOS it would be somewhat close to race a 325is depending on the drivers. I now own a 98 328is with a K&N short ram intake and it makes a whinning sound like a Supercharger almost.

W@OW! first of all more than 99% of you are morons, the 325i uses a 2.5L inline v6 you idiots. and a honda prelude cannot keep up with the bmw due to bmw having strong low end torque vs the prelude having moderate low end torque. The bmw can accelerate thru its gears much faster than that prelude can, and turbo or not, the beamer would of smoked the prelude when it topped at 130 and the beamer kept pushing to 150.

@killratoss Yeah the 325 is a slant 6 BMW never bothered to mention the fact that it is..and good thing it is because the slant six it one of the toughest engines ever built... another thing that is interesting is that the BMW 318i (E36) 4-cylinder was also built on a slant =) so technically its a slant 4 and they slant twards the passenger side. BTW BMW have perfect 50-50 weight balance.. thats why that engines are slant and the batteries are in the back. to counter weight everything.

This BMW (if it is indeed a 1995 325is) uses a 2.5L I6 (not V6) and had 192hp when it was new.
The reason it is pulling away from the Prelude is most likely weight...
A stock Prelude, even if it is the top of the range "Type SH" sold in the US in this year has roughly the same horsepower as the BMW but weighs 200 lbs more...

Dude. I have a 2001 honda prelude with only an intake, and it dusts my mom's 323 is all day which only has an exhaust.
Honda 2001 prelude - 1/4 mile - 15.2 seconds.
325is Bmw -1/4 mile - 15.7 seconds.
In essence, the prelude will take the beamer. it won't off the dig because it's front wheel drive, however, also has a higher top speed of 152 as opposed to 141.
