The Pistols a boy band? That may have been Malcolm McLaren's original intention but they went far beyond that Bay City Roller expectation. If the Pistols were put together to make money off of "stupid kids" then the Clash of whom I also very much enjoy are also "stupid kids", they and many others such as Nirvana are also "stupid kids". Don't try to slag off legends.

The Pistols were a boy band put together to make money off of dumb kids. They put out one good album that's it. The Clash are the only band that ever matter! Fuck the Pistols!

The Clash may be the only band that mattered but if it wasn't for the Sex Pistols the Clash would never have existed, and according to your logic would have based themselves on a manufactured product. You're kinda both right. The Pistols were more or less assembled by McLaren. But, it's also true that if there were no Pistols, there's no Clash, no X-Ray Spex, no Buzzcocks...lots of those early bands started as a direct result of Pistols gigs.

You're absolutely right ! In that respect the Sex Pistols were the if not the first ( remember the Stooges for ex. ) at the least the ultimate Punk Rock band. The Clash, Siouxsie , the Damned and a few others I forget here had the wit and the intelligence to move on with their music. Emphasizing the fact that Punk also means creativity.
