really nice modeling as usual ;) however i would pay attention to the animation, he looks a little too robotic if you get what i mean, its something called "twinning", its when everything moves at once, from the arms, body then hands, and then the head moves. Next time, try moving one thing at a time lets says he's coming up, u see the arms come up, the elbows, then the shoulder moves up so its like he's putting weight on that arm to pull himself up! Hope im not buging u with all my commentsXD

Id say its not believable because the sand person is too symetrical and the movements arent human like. Think of how many times you have ever moved like the character depicted here. The rising of the torso was smooth but again a real person has flaws and is a little unballanced. Adding these flaws gives character and makes it more real and relatable.
