I've been a U2 fan since 1981 (11 years old) and love...LOVE them and this song, but that new thing Bono's been doing where he's talking during the end (in some cases gibberish) takes away from the emotional build for me.

Like The Edge has mentioned before...sometimes less is more.

I've seen both versions performed live and this one make me shudder in my boots while having that internal spiritual ache and cry.

I was punching in the numbers to the ATM machine (to get money for what?). I was speeding on the subway through the s stations of the cross. They were dying from drugs. I tied myself with wire. to let the horses (heroin) run free. He was on his knees at the end. What a great song of humanity and the problems someone he knew went through. U2 makes songs that deal with life and problems in this world intead of just making noise.

The organ's being played by Terry Lawless. The band acknowledges him during "Unknown Caller", or at least that's how it's been the first few concerts, anyway... I think it's nice they've got a keyboard player. Gives it a more human touch than the sequencers they've used in the past, and it frees up Edge to concentrate on the rest of the music a bit more.
