Emmy is a sweetheart and she has such a lovely voice. She's very clean-cut and has a rare grace and poise shared by so few of her fellow new-Hollywood stars. I realize she's not perfect, and she can't be the best at everything, but I really can't find any fault about her worth criticizing.
Yes. While I wouldn't call her my role model, she's the first singer I've hated to be harsh with when casting judgement on her album. She just seems so sweet.
lol. Well no one asked you to take it so personally, I was more saying that Emmy's singing sucks and that you shouldn't use her to train yourself to sing. You're probably a better singer than emmy is. and fyi you don't lose friends from singing, you lose friends from being full of yourself, which is why you shouldn't idolize people like miss rossum

Once again, I wasn't saying you're full of yourself, I was saying EMMY is. And the fact you want to tell everyone on the internet about your own issues tells me you want some kind of sympathy, or just trying to make me feel sorry for you. Sorry, I just think you're pathetic.
No, I'm not wanting any sympathy. I AM just trying to prove a point. I follow through with persuading. Sorry, but I think you're pathetic. Have you EVER stopped trying to guess what people feel, what their lives are like, and what they want? Gosh, maybe YOU'RE the one who needs counseling.
The point might have been that there are nicer ways to say that. :)
But I'll agree to an extent. Her album... not great. In Phantom though - well, I'm not an expert on opera, not professional opera, at any rate, but I thought her voice was lovely.
I listen to opera religiously. I don't mind people saying she's a good singer. But when people go around calling her a famous amazing opera singer, thats when I say they're full of BS.
I'm not a fan of opera because its just ... well ... operatic. xD The forced power vocals and extremely wide vibrato just isnt very sonorous to me. Theres little room for subtety it seems which makes me prefer Emmy's Christine over Brightman's anyday. Much more lyrical, subtle, and womanlike.
I cant believe you think that...Emmy cuts an awful figure as Christine, her voice is not right at all for the part. At least Sarah Brightman can actually sing as the part recquires...
@Wolfgurl803 Well, you sound a bit too puritanical and closed minded about that... but to each their own. The bitch of subjective experience is that what we term "good" or "beautiful" is completely relative.
It's only my opinion. However I must express how there is actual fact to my words. Emmy Rossum does not have a strong enough voice to play Christine. A friend of mine explained to me the technical reasons why, (and I apologise for not being able to recall them now).
I didn't comment on her beauty at all, so no, it isn't 'relative'.
@Wolfgurl803 lol.... technical reasons why eh? Again there's the puritanical nonsense. As if there is only one way to sing. The film incarnation of Phantom wasn't meant to be some great operatic extravaganza. They made it much more subtle with a different feel and fresh perspective. In that context Emmy was great IN MY OPINION. If this became the new lineup for a stage production then thats another issue. But stick to your closed dogmatic criteria for what makes a good this or that. Have fun.
Oh for goodness sake, drop the superior act; its pathetic. I did not imply that in any way and you know it! I'm simply making a point. There are actual requirements for the character of Christine. Look them up. And I think you'll find that I couldn't be more open minded; just simply unimpressed by Rossum's mediocre portrayal.
how is it that i know 4 people now that have had cancer and used a natural approach to becoming cancer free...and yet organizations and drug companies are still searching for a cure...i dont get it

Why is everybody talking about her singing in this video? She isn't singing here, so why must it be brought up?

Holy crow, guys. Does it really matter? This isn't her fricking music video, it's a campaign ad. Show a little respect.

no, i mean a close-minded jerk. and i never said you were one, just acting like one. but now you are.
sweetdarkchild8596 2 years ago
i'm a jerk because your grammar sucks? hmm......interesting.
Yellie876 2 years ago
no, you're a jerk because you don't realize that there are different types of singing, not just pop or rap or whatever you listen to.
sweetdarkchild8596 2 years ago 2
yeah, there's talented experienced singing and there's amateur singing. Emmy is an amateur at best. And thats me being nice.
Yellie876 2 years ago
really? from the way you've been acting i didn't realize you knew how to be nice...
