not bad i i belive its working as a rotating core transformer .and couldent see meter is it ac or dc?cause if it where dc u can make more use from it by rectafires to make dc . and what is powering primary coil wall plug? i have a system thats perfict at the time its on dc but for charging porpuse its great for wet cell ones if u need help on anaything let me know
The fascination with this motor is that because it is brushless the only part that can wear out is the bearing. I scavenge these motors from recycling centres and the most I have paid for one was a dozen beers.
yes thats correct, its just a demonstration, if you were using these as a generator, id imagine you would need to have a constant source of wind or water, or else you would get no power, what about charging batteries? can they be rewound to produce say, 12v, to charge batteries?
modifying the motor is better than using a transformer, from the factory each phase is 14 coils in series, and these can be reconnected in parallel for lower voltage and much more current. Each phase can then be run through a bridge rectifier.

Thanks, for some reason you can't read the multimeter though, when I view this clip on mediaplayer I can read it thru the whole clip. It peaks at about 200VDC.

hello mr. FBRK8R can i buy from you a washing machine smartdrive and how much for one smartdrive ???
panyolito1929 5 months ago
@panyolito1929 you can get them from randysworkshop dot co m
mctaggart99 4 months ago
Can you buy the smartdrive by itself ? Like a replacement part ?

how can I get my hands on one of these in the US?
audiogods 3 years ago
find a Fisher & Paykel washing machine with 'smartdrive' written on the control panel.
FBRK8R 3 years ago
I have never seen one here? Do they sell these in the US?
audiogods 3 years ago
@audiogods or try finding a Whirlpool Cabriolet

What Wattage and rpm is this motor rated at?
Why the facination with this particular motor? Have you found a cheap surplus supply of them?

Same thing with any induction motor. watts/rpm?
tsport100 3 years ago
About 1400 watts max output I think. Look at some of my other vids where I am running one phase thru a MOT.

what kind of mashine is this? a 3phase asynchronous brushless??? whatever, can u please tell me.
sxcHideki 3 years ago
This is a three phase synchronous motor (aka a brushless DC motor) out of a Fisher & Paykel Smartdrive washing machine

thanks.

why not use a stirling engine to turn it?
DNM35 4 years ago
What good is it if you need electricity to turn it? Not a very smart generator.
coolestdude80 4 years ago
This is merely a demonstration dude, many people have successfully used water or wind to make electricity with these

You dont need to rewind them, you just need a transformer to reduce the voltage and a rectifier to convert the output to DC.
FBRK8R 4 years ago
yeah i could do that too, i was just thinking that a transformer may not be as efficent thats all

Pretty cool, now that I can see it. :)
