  • so if everybody is going to heaven. who goes to hell? and what about demons? jews?

  • So god see's sin as equal opportunity? That makes no sense whatsoever, a person who once stole a candy bar as an ignorant child is completely different from a mass murderer. No just court system works this way.

  • stealing candy is wrong, murder is wrong. God created us to love him and not sin, we did the opposite of that, we by nature hate God and love sin. and the fact that you will argue with me proves my point. Revelation 20:12 says "…the ead were judged according to what they had done…" so the punishment always fits the crime. If you steal candy and never meet Jesus you go to hell and it will be terrible… thats totally fair, if you murder and never meet jesus it will be worse.

  • @brodieheg yes both are wrong, but each have a different degree of punishment but hell is not just for anyone especially when Christian's portray this deity as merciful in the same breath. God creates man to love him, mankind by nature hates god and loves sin...do you not see a major flaw in your reasoning? You are blaming mankind for Yahweh's mistakes in creating mankind.

  • @rleeermy

Dude, that comment just sounded very uneducated..

  • I sadly understand now how each individual will themselves go to Hell willingly. No man can say God didn't do His Part. He comes to us and then we reject His Will and His way. Just remember Eternity is a long time to smh. #TEARS

  • He seems like a nice guy but he could be just as happy and positive as an atheist. Then he would be living in truth.

  • God came first, gender and monkeys are his creation. Why do we raise our children to feel loved? Because that's the way we are created. GOD of THE UNKNOWN loves US even if we understand everything about Him. He is infallible. And, the creator of love gives all of us all of His :) Arguing on about "nothing" is pointless right? or not right? He knew this before we even ate the fruit of knowledge. And the revelation is still to come.. get it down and direct your love back to Christ.

  • You utterly fail to explain how you get from being in awe of the world, to believing that the bronze age mythologies are true. Oh, the world is awesome, and science has shown us that, and continues to do so. It's also the most miniscule part of a vast and ancient universe.. awesome again! But at what point does the holy book of middle-eastern tribes 2-3,000 yrs ago become even remotely vindicated by this information? Science has shown you some wonders, maybe you should read more science books?

  • Its funny, I think this guy looks like one of the nicest people you'll ever meet, and I agree with all his principles, especially the opening speech, about stepping out of the madness of modern daily life and realizing that life is amazing. I agree with all that, I just don't think God exists. The fact that all this is made by a thing with a personality, a gender and a son just doesn't make any sense to me. What are your views on this?

  • @martinmedeski "The fact that all this is made by a thing with a personality, a gender and a son just doesn't make any sense to me"

Personally I have no problem with the idea of a personality, why do you? We are beings with personalities, what is wrong with another being with the same features?

As for gender, God doesn't have a gender, it's just language used to help us relate/understand.

As for a Son, you should look into the Trinity to understand the necessity of that.

"He VERY CLEARLY did not. He made it PERFECTLY clear that HE ALONE was the Son of God and what you just sad was blasphemy."

I'm sure you know that Jesus never wrote one single word found in the bible. So Jesus couldn't possibly have made anything VERY CLEAR,or PERFECTLY clear.

Dreams, and revelations from people who never wrote these dreams,or revelations down themselves is all you'll ever have, and thats why your forced to call your path of understanding a faith, and not truth.

  • "I'm sure you know that Jesus never wrote one single word found in the bible. So Jesus couldn't possibly have made anything VERY CLEAR,or PERFECTLY clear."

Oh whoops, I just wrote down what you said. I guess that means it's not an accurate record, as you didn't personally write it.

Obviously it doesn't matter if Jesus didn't write the Bible, what matters is whether those who wrote the Bible wrote His words.

  • TheHonestTheist

If you want to be an "HonestTheist" then it should matter to you if your not getting first hand information. There's good reason why you call your truths to others just faith.

It's one thing to trust in the revelations from prophets past, and another to be your own prophet who receives your own personal revelations from the Almighty Lecturer.

What do these prophets of old have that all mankind doesn't,"nothing".

  • Good stuff my Deist brother. You have a reality in God for the most part. You should know(and your almost there) that you yourself are the anointed one,the Christ prophet.

When you start reading the bible in a pure Deist mind set you'll know that Jesus came to tell us that we're all sons, and daughters of God.

To sin is to miss the mark, and when we miss the mark we fall short from the glory of God. The glory of God is absolute truth because God is the creator of all that is good, and absolute.

  • "you yourself are the anointed one"

I am anointed but I am not "the" anointed one, that was Jesus

"Jesus came to tell us that we're all sons"

He VERY CLEARLY did not. He made it PERFECTLY clear that HE ALONE was the Son of God and what you just sad was blasphemy. I hardly ever use that word, but what you just said was such a bad teaching that it makes you a heretic.

The Bible also calls you an anti-Christ for saying the Christ was not the Son. So get away from me.

  • TheHonestTheist

If not believing the bible,or any book claiming to be God's absolute word makes me a "heretic" then this word heretic is a perfect word for me.

Know that you are a heretic as well if you don't understand that the true word of God is the Creation (life) that we behold.

The only anti-Christ are those who don't realize that they are indeed Christ. We became the anointed ones the day that we arrived in the garden called Life.

It's not in mans power to anoint another man a god.

  • amazing video.

  • I think its incredible how Christians themselves see Christianity. All you hear is the good. How the bible is true because it tells you not to kill people. What about the parts that tell you to stone someone to death for having sex?

"We know in our hearts that these laws are good"?? Read the bible more and you won't believe that much longer.

I'm proud to say that I am nothing like the bible wants me to be, and I'm a better person because of it.

  • The severity of the punishments in the Old Testament were a reflection of the divinity and Holiness of God. The punishments were that harsh because God is that good. But we are not under Old Testament law anymore, so when you talk about "The Bible" you should really be talking about the New Testament and the words of Jesus. Like love your neighbour as yourself, pray for your enemies, bless those that curse you and so on.

That is what the Bible wants you to be like, far from what you make out.

  • Do you think the punishment matches the crime? That death is a just punishment for being gay? What does it matter if we don't have to follow old testament law anymore? At one time your god commanded people to be KILLED for having gay sex.

I am more moral than god though, so I know better than to murder people for their sexual preference.

  • HonestTheist, would you kill people and torture them eternally for their actions on earth? Is this something you consider to be divine, or holy? I agree that the bible tells us we're not bound by the laws of the old testament, but isn't got supposed to be transcendent? Why did he stop demanding blood?

    Cheers!

  • False analogy and misleading question.

    1) The punishment in hell is not neccessarily eterenal

    2) Of course I wouldn't punish someone that long, I'm only a human, not God. It doesn't matter as much if people sinner against a sinner like me. But it does when then sin against a righteous and Holy God.

"isn't got supposed to be transcendent?"

    what?

"Why did he stop demanding blood?"

Because the blood of Christ was poured out for the sins of all, redeeming all. So it was finished.

  • "What about the parts that tell you to stone someone to death for having sex?"

Incredible how non-Christians see Christianity, in their typical manner of omitting key information, such as heaping all sex into one heap of indistinct sameness.

Why didn't you instead say "what about the parts that tell you to stone someone to death for doing evil?"

Doesn't have quite the same punch, does it?

Also, I know many reject the notion of consentual sex being wrong, so save your breath.

  • Is having sexual relations with your same sex partner evil? Is planting wheat and barley in the same row evil? Is believing in a different god evil? I disagreeing with your parents evil? Is loving your mother and father evil(Luke 14:26)?

  • Is that a rhetorical barrage of questions you probably have already made up your mind about and hope to confuse me into silence with, or is it a genuine invitation to a more thorough, thoughtful, MUTUALLY RESPECTFUL exchange of ideas and thought?

Because, I've dealt with enough childish, openly-hostile Christophobes to not waste my time but screen first by asking.

If it is to be an adult conversation, you're going to have to pick a single question, obviously.

    Choose.

  • It was a barrage of questions attempting to make you think about your position, aka the Socratic method.

"Because, I've dealt with enough childish, openly-hostile Christophobes to not waste my time but screen first by asking."

Ditto, but sciencophobes(creationists) and atheistophobes(making new words is fun).

I'll stay away from childish games if you will, I try to ask my questions and make my comments match the tone they are responding to. cont...

  • "It was a barrage of questions attempting to make you think about your position"

Well, I'd invite you to merely stick with one question at a time from now on as that method "uninvites" adult dialogue. One question serves your aim just fine without making it impossible to respond despite having responses but not knowing where in the heck to begin. Know what I mean?

  • Would you prefer to make comments on the morality of the OT, or on Luke 14:26?

Either one would be interesting and hopefully insightful.

    Cheers!

  • "If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple."

    Luke 14:26

A common argument that Jesus was preaching hate.

  • My POV, Jesus was saying that until you recognize how humans are inherently flawed in their ability to love each other, you're not going to recognize the superiority of God's love. We don't try to fix what isn't recognized as broken. He isn't INVITING we hate, he's pointing out that we obviously already HAVE and lying about it is an obstacle to progress.

  • TheJediCharles

I've got a adult question for you.

Why does the Christian call their path of understanding our Creator a faith and then expect the rest of us to believe their faith as truth?

If Christianity is so true then why is the Christian forced to call it a faith.

This Eternal Life Force that we're a product of and rightly give the honorary title of God is a fact of life, and so our path of understanding should be just as self evident.

Doesn't require faith to know that God is.

  • "Why does the Christian call their path of understanding our Creator a faith and then expect the rest of us to believe their faith as truth?"

Speaking for myself, I never do. To me it's true (just like seeing a remarkable thing on the way to work that I'm limited in how I can prove to others) but in the distance between you and I, it's a matter of my faith and that's all I'll be guilty of stating. I know whatever else I have to say will be taken more seriously when I verbalize it in such a way.

  • TheJediCharles

Fine, but its not "just like seeing a remarkable thing on the way to work " as you were never a witness in a physical sense to Christ like you are to the very real things you see on the way to work.

You weren't there when the bible god overshadowed a young virgin girl who was engaged to be married. These are other peoples dreams and not your own. They're the faiths of old that your calling truth at least to yourself.

Your truths are really just the faiths of other people?

  • "you were never a witness in a physical sense"

Yes I was. It was real, physically-altering, miraculous and life-changing.

I was a "devout Atheist" more pompous and confident than many tools you see around here on YouTube. A very specific event changed all that, and don't bother asking as I've shared the details only with my wife.

I only say while that response probably normally works for you, it doesn't against me.

  • TheJediCharles

    "don't bother asking"

I wouldn't ask your response says it all. Know that I've always been very spiritual so I do realize how the closeness of physical, and spiritual revelations can seem, and some times are the same.

That "response" was only used in response to your (IMO) great answer to my other question.

It really is amazing that one can go from "devout Atheist" to believing in a mangod that we all better believe in order to be saved from this most nasty place called Hell?

  • "It really is amazing that one can go from "devout Atheist" to believing in a mangod..."

It was not that direct. The "event" did only one thing, prove remove doubt that there is "more than nothing." I didn't even know how to process it, but it gave me enough to finish the journey as best as I could for decades that followed. What I did know is how cruel I used to deal with such people, so it was something I could never tell.

But, the closest I ever got to an answer was Christianity.

  • TheJediCharles

"it gave me enough to finish the journey"

The journey is never finished,or shouldn't be in our path of understanding our Maker.

The important thing is that we're on the right path of understanding, and it sure does feel good to know that you are as (you think) you know.

I don't mean to sound self righteous, but I can be with the path of understanding called Deism (God).

    Two dogmas

    1. God is

    2. The Creation,or Life is the best way of ascertaining any real truth on the matter.

  • "It was real, physically-altering, miraculous and life-changing."

Did your soap was shaped like Jesus one morning?

If miracles were true, they would have an objective impact on EVERYONE'S REALITY. Why would a god choose you for a miraculous act and not a 13 year old Nigerian girl? WHY NOT EVERY SINGLE NIGERIAN GIRL?

    "...than many tools"

Christians are religion's tools. You believe, you pay and obey.

Atheists by definition, are nobody's tool.

  • Let's stick to the New Testament. That's Christianity. Do want me to go back over the history of science and highlight some of the things the majority of scientists believed? The Bible is filled with symbolism, parables, metaphors and complex language. Science doesn't even know one billionth of what there is to know about the human body, much less the universe. And I love science; I was always a big fan of Carl Sagan.
