Mes chers amis, je cherche le livre "L'assassinat de Lumumba" par de Witte. Anyone knows how n where I can get it in Kenya? Either in English or French bt preference 2 th French version coz I read a review tht th English translation was edited n re-edited by Capitalist Anglo-American brains. Anyone?
Typical Franco's string wailing.........I liked this sound of the guitar better. It was unique and very characteristic of Luambo himself, but later in the 90's it changed into unpleasant type. Minchelino's addition was fantastic.
Illungawailunga. I am surprised by your comments although I respect them. I am not from Zaire, but from the Ivory Coast. One thing I am convinced of is that Mobutu is a monster and remained monster since it took over after the assassination of Lumumba by the FBI with his connivence.
Folks, You have to see this song in context. In 1975 Mobutu was not the animal he turned out to be. The time this song was played Mobutu was okay and Franco was being a a good patriot for his country. Put in his position any one of you would have sung the same.
@ilungawailunga yes, actually at that time in the mid to late 70's Congo was doing very well politically, socially, and economically, and of course culturally it was the center of African modern creativity, all experts analyzed that with Congo's size, population, stability, and minerals, would have it become the economic leader of Black Africa in 30 years.
So yes, you are completely right, in the Congo of the 70's life was actually relatively good and the future promising
I'm glad you see it that way. I haven't seen ANY other video ANYWHERE in which Franco basically plays in his guitar style of 1971-72. So, we're NOT going to throw THIS away, aren't we. In time, I'll upgrade it a little.
Dear Mr Aboubacar, I aggre. Franco's role a mi soloist and leader of the orchestra comes out here clearly and beautifully. I like the composition even though it saddens me that they are singing the praises of a dictator.

@mavinga I think this is true for all the African countries that had achieved independence at that point in time.
