This is pure greed!! these people should be BANNED. Anglers are not allowed to keep a salmon on the tweed until July and are encouraged by gillies to return fish yet these netsman are allowed to plunder the stocks...10,000 in 2010!!

TThe Berwick Salmon Fishing Company was boiught out by the Atlantic Salmon Fishing Trust in about 1987. Hundreds of years of tradition came to an end as all net fishing was stopped. (Surely not to preserve stocks for the landed gentry up river!). It is occasionally seen and will be legal. I think I'm right in saying its illegal to even carry Salmon fishing equipment within 5 miles of the river without good cause.

This is possibly Sandstell. I've seen them fishing from Gardo batt as well.

Seine net fishing is legal and has gone on for hundreds of years. Fishing stations are licensced and entirely legal.

i am a salmon fisherman who fishes the river usk and river taff for salmon and we have seen a very very BIG decline of salmon and sea trout because of people like this. They should be sent to jail for what they are doing. IT IS ILLEGAL TO DO THAT.
