The only time I ever got a scratch on the bracelet was accidentally knocking it against a very hard, sharp edge of a metal cabinet. It created a thin sharp line across the clasp. Other than that, the usual swirl marks you'd tend to get on metal band watches from every day use does not show up. I'm surprised that Jason wears his during lab work that causes him to knock it against things. This is a very uncommon watch... I'd take better care of it.
@informant007 Had this watch for over 3 years, and have worn it almost every day since I got it. The DLC is holding up really well, in fact, I'm almost shocked how well it is holding up. Sure, it is an expensive watch to get scratched, but I wanted something that was unique, but also durable. Why get a watch that you have to baby, and take off during your normal day to day tasks? Luckily, I no longer have a job that requires lab work, so now I just wear it in a typical office setting...
@JBentzPhotography Good to hear it! I'm still going to baby mine (going on about 3 years also), but it's good to know that if I ever need to wear it under rough conditions, I won't have to be concerned. :-)
@informant007 I've loved this watch so much, I sold off the Casio one that I also reviewed, and also my Pathfinder. This is my only dressy watch now. Have fun. Maybe they will be worth something some day!
I was thinking about getting a promaster skyhawk, pmv 65 2241, but I was wandering what the major differences are with regards to the attesa here...any1? thanx
Thank you. Yes, I do like these over the Oceanus. I have the OCW-300, and it is nice, but not as feature rich as the Attesa. I also like having more information than the OCW-300 can display on it's LCD. I would highly recommend the DLC coating on the Attesa, over the Black Ion coating on the Oceanus models (at least, about the 2+ year older Oceanus, they may have come out with a better coating, but the last one I had flaked off within 2 weeks in one place).
thanks for the info, i have looked at the newer models but they dont really take my fancy, they are also quite a bit larger. Ive got my eye on the ATV53-2833, i would of got yours but they are all sold out :( Thanks again
Well, of course! I still wear this watch almost every day, and the DLC is still holding up well. Yes, there are some little scratches, but they are still black, and don't flake off like the Black Ion Plating that others have do.
I am surprised this watch doesn't get more comments though. I figured people would want to know about it more.
I have this watch. The other day I was on the bus wearing this watch and saw a girl wearing this watch too. I looked over at her and she gave me a knowing look. This watch is for very serious people.
Could you tell me how your DLC coating is holding up on this watch. A few people have commented that they have scratches on the bracelet. I think this has occurred when the bracelet has rubbed against items. For example, when typing.
I have been really, and, I mean really, impressed with how this DLC has held up. I've had the watch for about 2 months now, and have had some incidents where I thought I probably scratched the watch, but as of now, there are absolutely NO scratches on the band or case.
I had an Oceanus OCW-700 that was black ion plated, and was not at all happy with how it was holding up. After just two weeks, of a normal desk job, the coating was coming off of the band on the back side, showing the silver titanium underneath. I was so unhappy with it, I removed the link that was getting scratched, and sold the watch.
If you do get one of these, you will be happy with the durability of the DLC. Now, there are things that could scratch it, but would have to be things almost as hard as diamonds. For instance, if your married, keep it clear of your wife's bling-bling engagement ring!
Other than that, I've banged mine against various things, such as plastic, and metal (steel), etc. I work in the marine trolling motor industry, and am frequently in the lab testing new products (or current products), and come into contact with lots of different, tough materials, sometimes on a daily basis.
Yes, I am able to operate every function on the watch without removing it. I left enough room in the band (about enough to insert a pencil between my wrist and the band), to be able to operate it easily. Surprisingly, even operating the crown is pretty easy to do while it's on your wrist, provided the band is not really tight.
Nice review, trick with reviews is to write a list of features (with key words) and then go down it as you go. I like the adjustable band because it is very annoying to exercise and later find your watch is strangling your wrist.
Thank you, these are my first video reviews, and I still struggle with the quality. I edited the video, reduced to 320x240, and deinterlaced it, but it still ends up being poor quality...guess that's what we are stuck with, for YouTube.
Yes, the adjustable band is really handy, and I find myself using it often. I need to probably add a link back, as I find that it's on the last setting almost all the time, problem is, that one link adds almost 0.5".
Thanks for the review! Very informative.

It was a joke. You used the word "interesting" too many times to count.

Hi great review!
Can you tell me if you can operate the different functions (eg Stopwatch) without having to remove the watch on your wrist in the first instace.
Thanks.

Youtube will soon be offering a higher resolution option from what Im hearing but Im wondering who will be offered this feature.

Near the end, I said, "this button here does the time," what I meant to say was, "this button here does the backlight." Sorry about that.
Also, sorry for the rather slow review. I did not realize what I was getting into when I started, and ended up covering more than I thought I would.
