I'm a T3 para but am getting trunk stability back, thankfully. I was discouraged by my PT and OT from using a walker with braces because it would hurt my shoulders. Have you noticed it taking a toll on your shoulder health?
Hey I've been a chair-user for almost 10 years and you're absolutely right! Those of us who are pretty active tend to have better-than-average upper body strength. Most of my guy friends won't even think about arm wrestling me, and I've won more than a few drinks at the bar by beating men who don't seem to realize that pushing a chair all day is like a constant workout :)
My ex-girlfriend is an L2 para--She could beat me, as well as quite a few other guys fairly often at arm wrestling--Because of her level of injury, she could walk with braces and crutches or a walker, but usually used her chair.
Yeah, sure, sure YOU DO HAVE ENOUGH TRUNK STRENGHT. I`m para too(PCI)and i was scared too at first but i practiced hard and now i can use crutches and they are really really good. it sounds stupid but i love my crutches because they are so so good
HI! Great vids. Great techniques glad someone is learning it for me so i dont' have to learn the hard way. I am t5 complete. What's the risk factor in falling down doing what your doing? I am already osteo on the hips. Being 6'4 it's a long ways down if I fall. I am 28 now in great upper body stregth
I wear the braces outside my pants because I only use them for exercise. It is too much work to put them inside and I don't care how it looks. I use a walker because my injury is at T4-5 and I don't have enough trunk stability to use crutches without a high risk of falling.
haha this is a joke. That's not walking, just hoping around. WHy would you wear long braces, that doesnt help at all. You can't even bend your legs!

Talk about strength! No one could win in a serious arm wrestle with him:) ! (Yes, it's a humorous comment, but one has to admit it's true!! )

where did you learn to do this?

This is most encouraging to see you do all these things ... but how long did it take you to become so adept, my friend?...

Wow, that looks great :)
I'm a T-9 para(since Nov.'04),
Do you think I'd have enough trunk strength to use crutches? I have my abdominals and I can move my hips, but no legs.
I've never used leg braces, but I'm hoping to to get my hands on some - sitting down all the time gets old real fast lol
