no need to buy a new hydraulic cylinder, check the shaft and see if their is any scratches or gouges, if it checks out okay take it to a hydraulic shop and they will be able to rebuild it for you, they should be able to source the gaskets on hand.
some cylinders are welded shut, dont worry hydraulic shop will carfully cut it open and re weld it when done. good luck!
@ShnitzlHaus Thanks a lot. I bought a rebuild kit from Toro and I'm going to give that a try. I'm also putting all new o-rings on the hoses and see if that doesn't correct any leaking. The cylinder looks good so far, think it just blew a seal out.
ive never seen a hydraulic hose move around like that, whether is it a jic hose or a npt hose they ARE NOT suppose move, the threads on the swivel squezze the champher tight to the fitting on the cylinder and if it moves it will leak.
@Krschrupp That is what I thought. The nut to the cylinder was tight, but as you see in the video, it wiggles. I had so much grease everywhere, it must spray everywhere when the deck lever is engaged. I got the cylinder gasket repair kit, so another video is on the way.
@mrwiggles2 im working on my bolens 1658 its the h16xl hydrostat, it had a blown head gasket and it trenched a path in the head, my buddy tig welded it and i lapped it flat again. right now paint and the seat need work but it runs strong again not bad for a 77'
@Krschrupp I actually was looking at Bolens before I bought the 520H. I liked the large frame tractors a lot, just couldn't find won that I was looking for.
You should put that on youtube, I'll subscribe. Would love to see it.
@TractorTV I guess I was lucky. Went to mass early, didn't have dinner plans until late... plus it was 67 degrees which is unusual... guess I'd call it my perfect storm. Can't believe you sold the 314-8. I was shocked!

Nice update - Boy how did you get away with doing this on Easter Sunday? I cannot go near the garage on a holiday LOL!
How's the grass going to grow after that power wash!
