If they had somebody watching the doors where they planed to come out they would have known about the heat waiting for them and then just dumped the stuff. Man, that was a great apprehension. I wish we had enough officers to have one working cameras and two on the apprehension, but my team is only five people for a two-level outlet. We never have three people working for more than an hour or two at a time. Also, I'm jealous of your outdoor camera... I wish we had that too.
I now work as part of a team after years of working alone in a two storey store with the security office upstairs, 4 entrance/exits, a lift and escalators.
Luckily I usually had help on standby from neighbouring stores using a storelink radio.
Though if I had to, i generally coped on my own. Thankfully i always had the edge on the Junkies speed wise. Remember Kids Heroin (Vitamin H) is not a good training aid.
good teamwork. a little too hands on. i think its best to let the shoplifter follow one lp and have the bigger lp follo the shoplifter to make sure he doesnt run or attack the lead lp. that way though there is less confrontation. most people will let you grab them by the arm but for some that will trigger a fight. talking them back is better than forcing them back
but this also gives them a head start if they want to run and also frees both arms to be used to defend themselves. If you detain and they want to fight then thats the way its gonna go. they'll fight u either way.
