thanks for a good vid! I'm contemplating this or the Galaxy Spica. the Spica is an Android phone, but the Jet is a bit smaller and I think I prefer the smaller size over the abundance of apps. both have all the features I want and are similarly priced in Sweden. so it's basically Android vs better size
one thing, do not be talking too .. people when they see on youtube, they want to see more than hear you speak, then it shows the product, do not be talking about more ..
Great job! You guys really hit the mark, reviewed the important elements and left out the crap on the phone that no-one really cares about. Thank you :)
samsung did a bad job with all the software to jet.. missing e-mail functions, software update that dont work, menu that dont go landscape when you tilt it, missing øæå on qwerty in scandinavia, way to small space button on qwerty, not full fash suport like you get with skyfire on s60 and windows mobile.. and you cant custume the menu.. and bad speaker sound.. +only mono speaker.. and screen that loves fingerprints. this is not good samsung...nokia have more advanced entry level phones..
hey , i have a samsung jet on orange , everyone else i knowwho has the jet has three main menu screens and i only hav one (even other jets on orange hav 3) so i was wandering if anyone knows how to change it ? please
Hi i got the phone but when i plugg it into the pc nothing happens.
When i install the stuff from the cd it doesnt install them correctly and then it comes up that i can send the problem to samsung but with my IP adress, so should i do that?
Because it's not a smartphone, it's slightly faster than the Omnia II, but the Omnia II is more powerful in terms of features and capabilities than the Jet.
very nice review indeed. love the video cam that you use. I really want to buy this phone could you tell me where to buy Australia map for this particular Samsung, I've been look for everywhere on the web just can not find it, you have any idea? Thanks
thank you very musch mr 65bits. i've been from store where i bought this samsung jet. now it works! but i hav a question again to you. How can i sign out from my yahoo mail. i cant log out after i used it and when you open it again its still there?
great review 5/5 :P i just ordered this phone this morning the day it came out in the uk on t-mobile so im looking forward to it and as there was no reviews on the official site i had to look into what i bought and i guess u guys filled me in on what i bought so thanks i guess
Hey. Samsung announced the SDK for its mobile widgets for the touchwiz interface on August 17. Don't think youtube will allow me to post a direct link but I'm sure google will lead you to it. Does it mean it can categorize as a smart phone now?
You're right about that but we are still looking at the details to that SDK. It appears that Samsung might be allowing 3rd party apps across their phones, though technically it's very difficult for that to happen. We're still doing some research on that because some of us have doubts on how deep an application they're talking about, or if they're just talking about widgets.
Cross platform applications across proprietary, windows mobile and series60? That'd be the most awesome thing ever!
Actually, I just haven't done research on the SDK yet due to time. I decided to spend some time just now reading up on it, and realised that I was right.
The SDK is only for widgets development. No native apps.
mr 65bits i need your attention can you show us how to connect to wifi? i activate my wifi and search network then it appears the network then i entered my 5 digit number into network key and it doesnt work how? pls anybody who knows?
If you're able to find the network and type in the password, it means that you do know how to connect the wifi and you're not doing anything wrong. If you're having trouble, it's probably because there's an issue with the network or the network is not compatible with your phone.
If you can't connect to any network then maybe the phone is faulty.
Shame about that. If this phone ran on the upcoming symbian S60 5th edition, I would have been sold. But as it stands, with the high spec sheet and potential for giving LG and Nokia 5800 a run for their money, I would easily get bored after 2 weeks. At least with symbian, Android et al, you can heavily customise your phone to your hearts content. A great opportunity missed.
It's not a smartphone because it's running proprietary software that does not allow the installation of 3rd party applications. Even Samsung admits is, as their ad campaign says "smarter than a smartphone", not "the smartest smartphone".
I have that very same question! Though the W995 has a 8.1 Cam for it's size it's a nice phone. Though the Jet keeps on coming back to me as the phone to get, Not for the cam, becasue it's a touch phone and there are few other then the IPhone and 5800 and Magic on the market.
I bought the Jet a few days ago and over all i'm happy. One thing i really hated about this phone is the fact that you cannot see ANY type of event on the main screen (as a reminder). Rather, you'de have to go to the callender and click on "LIST EVENTS" to view them!
This is sumthin i had on my innov8 and now i'm missin it :(
Have you tried one of the widgets? I'm not sure about the Jet, but when I was reviewing the Samsung Ultra Touch, also TouchWiz, I remember there was an events widget that pulls the latest events.
Yes Daniel I tried the widget and u'r rite there is one for events, but it's for PAST events! (This is pretty dumb). Even I enter coming events and/or tasks, it still says "NO EVENTS" on the widget.
I had this phone and it turned out the be the worst phone I ever had...just crap!

NICE REVIEW:-) But i really have a BIG question mark wanted to be solve
what is the major and minor difference between samsung omnia II and jet?
and can i install apps or even move the arrangement of icons in jet?
THANKS in advance
ichilouch 2 years ago
Nope, you can't install apps or move the arrangement of icons in the Jet. That's the major difference.
The other difference is that since the Jet is not running on top of another OS like the Omnia, it performs better than the Omnia.

Andrewl1 2 years ago
Nope, it's not. It's a regular phone with a touch screen. You can't, and never will be able to install native 3rd party applications on this phone.
65bits 2 years ago
I was being sarcastic, since in the video you're saying like 15 times it's not a smartphone.. ;-)
Still, thanks anyway. Hoping to get my new Jet tomorrow or the day after, your video was pretty helpfull :)

1) how would you rate the build quality of the phone?
2) since Samsung have yet to announce a release date for Australia do you think that an imported model from Asia would work on our network?
