hi i have this netbook in blue i installed vista then windows 7 but after a while i get the blue screen is it because i only have installed 1gb and not 1.5gb
@amirudin920927 lol, I do believe that. I think this was Windows 7 Ultimate. Haven't tested it with W7 Professional so far because I'm using it as a server... =P
@lexemmens LOL that guy is stupid. It's 7, It doesn't show the new boot splash because its only for 1200x600 resolutions and up. Not small resolutions.
@lexemmens THATS WRONG I KNOW WHY, WINDOWS 7 BOOT SCREEN REQUIRES A HIGHER RESALUTION SCREEN TO DISPLAY THE ANIMATION. ALL WINDOWS 7 NETBOOKS DO THIS. YOU PLUG THIS INTO A MONITOR USING VGA AND BOOT IT UP THE BOOT SCREEN COMES UP. (sorry for the caps)
Just torrent download windows vista 32 bit and an activator or pre-activated and use an external usb dvd drive or a flash drive to boot off of the iso image and install it. Then just download ur drivers and updates and ur ready to go.
I installed Windows 7 RC1 on my AOA150 after I had to do factory default restore because of a pesky piece of malware that left the system crippled even after cleaning it. Running as dualboot and so far I'm loving it save occasional BSOD which I contribute to the driver and/or some software incompatibility issues.
Get to a pc that has a dvd rom and a thumb drive you can make a bootable recovery drive. Just the system down after you plugged in the thumb drive and put the disc in then reboot and follow the prompts. That should work.
i have this on my aspire one, 1 thing that annoys me is that a1ctl doesn't work, so the fan is constantly on full..., the wifi is also another problem, the led for the wifi doesn't work and the wifi itself works randomly ok, and sometimes nothing.
Think whatever you want, but this is Windows 7. Feel free to scroll to 0:55. As you can see it says Windows 7 Ultimate and no, I din't mess with the login screen.
I have a external harddisk casing with cables to connect a hard disk via USB. Those cables also fit with an internal DVD-ROM drive, so I connected the DVD-ROM drive to my Aspire One (and I still have)
i've actually heard that windows 7 is actually designed more towards netbooks and the like, it has changed the whole way it streamlines tasks to be more friendly to SSD, that and it being so lightweight and still able to use the nice graphical interface is really cool in my opinion, i find it amazing they managed to make DX10 support come from just the processor.
let us know or show a video when you switch to 7000, you can find it all over torrents now. i have also heard its a big jump
I think Windows 7, compared with Vista, will be better and faster, but until the release of Windows 7 this can't be set with any certainty. At this point I see Windows 7 as a very good successor of Windows Vista. And XP? I think XP is still the best OS for the Aspire One 'cause Windows 7 isn't really designed to run on the Aspire One. You've allready noticed it, but it isn't only the boot-process, it is also noticeble when you're working in Windows.
you should try using the newest beta release (7000). I am currently using it (on a macbook), but haven't used any of the other betas. It is supposed to be much faster than 6801 (which I assume you are running).
how well does this function?? besides the boot up. What system specs does yours have? did you add ram to make it run better? can the atom processor handle windows 7 properly? if i am going to do this i wanna make sure it runs real smooth
I didn't add ram to make it faster, I use the 1Gig that came with the laptop and the Atom processor can handle Windows 7 properly but I won't say it runs real smooth, if you want to keep you Aspire One real smooth; stay with Windows XP...
Maybe it's worth saying that Windows 7 crashed 3 times until now (It is still a (pre)beta..)
I don't care about how long it takes to boot up--I want to know if it works! Is the pre-beta relatively stable on aspire one? (I mean, stable as far as pre-betas go). Can you open up word, or Windows Mail etc?
Uhm.. Windows Mail is not included in this beta version.
I've installed Office 2007 on the machine, I am not that happy with it - Word crashed several times. I haven't tested it with other software then MS Office so far.
But.. the aero interface works rather well, surprisingly.
man, change to starter edition then, and upgrade your ram to 2gb, or push it's limits!

Yup, the WiFi thing blows. I'm installing Vista drivers for it later today, and we'll see if that fixes some things. Wish me luck!

Are you all stupid??? This video doesn't show Windows 7 booting up, it's Windows Vista!!! Don't you recognize that Windows Vista boot logo?
Windows 7's boot logo is different and it collides from corners of the screen to the center.
Damn you, moronic uploader.

This is windows 7, i have the exact same netbook with build 7000 installed and its exactly the same,
I think the reason it displays the vista one is because of the vertical screen res only being 600
Either way, not a great idea acting like a know it all and calling people morons when you dont know what your talking about ;)
ears1991 3 years ago
It blows not having the new boot screen :(
