Best lightsaber fight has to be Luke and Vader (Return of the Jedi) - Luke is surrounded by hatred and evil and overcomes that great evil by his own being of a good-natured person. Involves courage and sacrifice, so much depth. No flaws involved.

I liked Obi-wan vs. Anakin too, in Revenge of the Sith. It shows betrayal and sadness, a sort of loss for Obi-wan as he turns away from Anakin, left in despair. Only problem was that the fight was too long and too much action to be understood easy.

I saw this film in 1977 aged 6 and it really did change my life, not in a geeky "I go to conventions way" but it made me think about the possiblities of what might be out there and going on in the depth of space. Along with Close Encounters of the Third Kind this film has kept my attention and kept me asking questions about life for 35 years.. pure genius!

My original take on seeing this trailer? I was intrigued but also thought it looked kind of silly: I wasn't interested in seeing it. But I was back at that theater in Delaware (the Tri-State Mall Twin Cinemas) 2 nights after it opened in the States, May 27, 1977, along with a ton of other people and I was blown away. Not a big Star Wars geek--the movies to follow all paled in comparison to the 1st one--but the electricity & excitement that was the original SW zeitgeist swept the country in 1977.

One other thing I recall about seeing this trailer a few months before the film opened: the packed theater laughed like hell at R2D2 keeling over after being shot by the Jawa. The feeling I got was that they laughed derisively, or dismissively at this moment, thus sort of summing up their opinion of the movie & dismissing the entire film as something not to be taken seriously at all, eminently forgettable. Understandable, as sci-fi films, in the years after 2001, were b.o. duds.

I saw this trailer in a packed theater in Delaware a few months before the May 25, 1977 original release and I have never forgotten it. Funny, cuz I can't recall what the feature was that I had gone to see in the first place. I remember especially the driving violin slashes increasing in volume as the trailer went along, and really being blown away by some of the images in the trailer: the 1st unusual glimpses of characters & scenes that went on to be become iconic & instantly recognizable.

I remember watching this trailer and I knew it was something years ahead of any other film at the time. The reason the original films are better is that Lucas was running out of money and he didn't have the computers to do more special effects. He had to lean on the acting and characters. The latter films are all special effects and little interaction as you have in the original film. You can still find original versions on vhs at used bookstores or flea markets.
