The Jesus Christ of Mormonism has only the name in common with Christianity. They believe in multiple, actually infinite gods. Their goal is to become a God themselves and rule their own planets in the afterlife. Polygamy isn't Mormonism, true. However if you look in the bible, there are several prophets who had multiple wives. Do you condemn the bible for the plural wives? No other church has prophets, if there is, name some? How many churches have the priesthood mentioned in the bible, name some? How many churches say that God still exists and answers prayers, creates miracles, and talks to them as it was in the story of the bible?

@benscoot actually my time was spent reading lds church history, letters by JS wives, journal entries by his brother Hyrum about JS "first" vision, etc. I am so thankful to God for leading me where He did! I am no longer a part of the lds church and a HUGE burden has been lifted from me. Praise Jesus!
Summergod27 actually JS had 36 wives as young as 14 years old. He was also caught making advances to an 11 year old. He shot ands killed 2, possibly 3 men while in Carthage jail, and had 8 different accounts of his "first vision".

If you want to see a different gospel being taught, check out the changes made to the gospels at the Nicean Creed as they voted on what to include in a unified gospel from different groups as they attempted to unify the Christians.

According to Jesus, there is 1 true God. One. If every religion worshiped the same god, that would no longer be one true form of God, but many that are now acceptable. My belief is that Jesus Christ is the human form of the one true God, he was and is equal with God, he is God.

Actually, we only have one God. We call him the Eternal father because he has always been God. We dont teach that he "worked up to it." And we are nothing like the catholics. The catholics worship their "prophet." The Pope. We dont worship our prophets. We only worship God, and God alone. But if you dont believe in our way, then thats fine. I was a lds for 25 years...until I came to faith in Christ ALONE. I have no bitterness in my heart toward the members. I only blame myself in allowing myself to believe in mormon theology. That being said, I realized, after I left the church that the mormon church views the Bible in the same manner as atheists. There was just no way I could have been a Christian with an atheist attitude toward God's Word.

I have a Mormon friend and everytime someone points out a flaw in his religion he refuses to listen and gets very aggressive. e.g. (Him) the native were repenting and worshiping their God/Jesus so that they could go to one of the 3 stages of Heaven. I've always been confused about the Adam-God doctrine taught by Brigham Young for twenty some odd years. He said our salvation depended on our eventual acceptance of Adam, the first man, as our "Father and our God, the only God with whom we have to do." (Journal of Discourses vol. 1, p. 51). The Journal of Discourses was the precursor to the Ensign. I've never been able to find an answer to this question. If anyone knows, please tell me. Thanks!

1)Why does the Book of Mormon say that Lehi found horses when he arrived in America? The horse did not exist in the Americas until the Spaniards brought them over in the sixteenth century.
2) Why was Nephi stated to have a bow of steel? Jews did not have steel at that time, and no iron was smelted in the Americas until the Spanish colonization.

So what if every sunday is a different subject. Those subjects typical are about the church itself and rarely about Christ. Their services are mostly about testimonies, "I know the church is true", "I know JS was a prophet" ( repeating it adnausem as the tears run down their faces ). There's very little about how to have a personal relationship with God ( because mormons don't believe that's possible ), and almost all about the masonic temple rituals that are necessary to know (their) god.

I am really sorry but please don't criticize a religon before knowing about it. I am a proud member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and that is not how it is.

Outward appearance of Mormons will never reveal the truth. What goes on behind closed doors is rarely set out in the open. I know there are bad apples in every walk of society but the pride and condemnation of the priesthood is not something that a holy God would approve of. Male dominance and working towards godhood is actually a blasphemy.
All people are created equal. Yes some males can be dominant mormon or not. I know that men and women are equal. I know that my future husband will be able to make up for what I lack and I will be able to make up for what he lacks. Although I won't have the priesthood I will enjoy the blessing of womanhood and being a mother.

Praying is about all we can do. Forced conversion is not from the heart, and it's useless... I agree that they are (usually) some of the kindest folks around, but they refuse to understand that their teachings are quite skewed. The freedom(s) they seek are sitting right there in Christ. They don't need the additional gospel of Joesph Smith.
@MyParable there is a living prophet today and his name is Thomas S. Monson, just like in day's of Christ the righteous would follow his words, the prophet is given revelation from God and Jesus and it get's distributed through out the world! Book of Mormon is a record of the America's and it is the "one book" that has been translated only once and by Joseph Smith who was a Prophet. Just like prophets of old we follow all prophets words because they come from Heavenly Father!

God does not directly talk to all men, but he does reveal his plan for his children through prophets. It is nothing new, God did it with Abraham, Moses, and Noah. If God is the same yesterday, today and forever, why can he not call prophets today? It makes sense.
@MyParable I appreciate your prayers. I know you probably don't attend our church, so you may not realize that the focus of all our teaching is on Jesus Christ. Joseph Smith's life was all about the teachings of our Savior Jesus Christ. I'm sad that so many people have wasted so much time in their lives to malign the LDS church.

I've come to understand that you believe JS will judge us along side of God and Jesus. That to me is making a man equal with God... I don't agree with it.
What I meant about inconsistencies, is that you used to acknowledge multiple wives, but now condemn it. You used to consider blacks as 'evil', but now you don't. That's my point.
1) It's not that the words of Christ aren't enough. In fact, the words are what we live by. Joseph Smith is a Prophet that revealed the ancient writings on brass plates, and he wrote them into a book, which we call The Book of Mormon. We do not worship JS, we just acknowledge him as a Prophet.
@Fitzthum1990 I understand what you're saying. However, why have I read (from mormon sources, not anti-ones) that you will be judged by Jesus, God, and Joseph Smith? First off, God and Jesus are the same being. The son is in the Father, and the Father in the son. They are the same, they are equal. Jesus is his human form. To be judged by both is to be judged by one.
As for JS being a qualified judge.. that's nonsense. What makes him greater than all other prophets, if he truly is one?

The problem I have, is why an entirely different book is needed (book of Mormon). The words of Christ should be fulfilling enough to a believer. Books that add on to his word, in my opinion, should not be considered as essential to salvation. I just don't agree.
Hmm, that is interesting. It might have been an FLDS video. (Fundamentalist LDS churches are the ones who still practice polygamy, and are in no way connected to us) But idk. And if you don't agree with the Book of Mormon, well, who am I to judge you for that. Even though my church says "we are the true church." @Fitzthum1990 I think the wisest thing to do is cling to the words of Jesus Christ. Seek his word diligently and it will find you. The living word of God is a sharp 2 edged sword, it will work it's way in you if you desire it.
In the end, knowing Jesus and drawing near him is the key to salvation in my opinion.

Kudos for not being the typical "i'm going to troll on someone/something just because i'll think im cool". yeah mormons can deffinitley be described as strange but the best answers i can give you are:
1) we read and often observe the words of Christ, people probably don't believe so but we (mormons) are in fact christians. Some people disagree which is whatever but a Christian can be described as someone who believes in Christ, you can look it up if you dont beleive me.
1. God has always called prophets (Moses, Abraham, Noah, etc) so it really is not that strange to believe in prophets. They are not a source of worship, Christ is the only one we worship.
2. Christianity has no inconsistencies? Have you heard of the Crusades? The Roman Inquisition? Indulgences? Look these up and it may enlighten you. There are good and bad seeds in every religious group.
1. Joseph Smith was a mere human like Peter James and John...who, like JS, revered Jesus Christ, and shared his teachings.
2. There are no inconsistencies when you have full context. Some may have thought it inconsistent when Peter received revelation saying that it was now okay to bring the gospel to the gentiles. It was just the right time for that change. That is the beauty of continuing revelation...which is the rock that Christ's church was founded on.
How do you reconcile the inconsistencies required to be a proud member? I mean like the book of Abraham? It's almost comical.... JS purchased a mummy from a traveling exhibition and it just happened to contain a papyri in "reformed egyptian" that JS knew how to translate. Lo and behold once "translated" it was the book of Abraham!!!! The problem is the papyri was found in 1966 and egyptologists say it has nothing to do with what JS "translated"! LOL. That's in Genesis if you look under the chapter where the flood has ended. Genesis 9: 26-27 "...Cursed is Canaan; a servant of servants shall he be unto his brethren. 2) We believe that mankind should follow in Jesus' footsteps, so yes, we believe in doing good to others. (It only helps us get into Heaven)
3) "Our" God is the same God to you and every other religion. We do not worship our Prophet(s). And Joseph Smith was 15 when he had the visions. I'm pretty sure in the late 1800's drugs were not a "big hit" to teens.

According to Jesus, there is 1 true God. One. If every religion worshiped the same god, that would no longer be one true form of God, but many that are now acceptable. My belief is that Jesus Christ is the human form of the one true God, he was and is equal with God, he is God.
Definitely good to do your research. Draw close to Jesus Christ, -diligently seek his word.

I was a lds for 25 years...until I came to faith in Christ ALONE. I have no bitterness in my heart toward the members. I only blame myself in allowing myself to believe in mormon theology. That being said, I realized, after I left the church that the mormon church views the Bible in the same manner as atheists. There was just no way I could have been a Christian with an atheist attitude toward God's Word.

@charger2538 this may not be the same thing. but. when the whole thing with the economy happened i couldn't find a job for 2 years. and i could tell you right now it had nothing to do with the Mormons. i even went to church with them and yes i am a LDS member. and they do take care of there own and others as well. but dispit that i still couldn't get a job. i received help with food from the church. i eventually had to move out of the state looking for work. but it has nothing to do withThem

I have a Mormon friend and everytime someone points out a flaw in his religion he refuses to listen and gets very aggressive. e.g. (Him) the native were repenting and worshiping their God/Jesus so that they could go to one of the 3 stages of Heaven. (me) Oh, you mean the Jesus that they had never seen nor heard of? is that the one you're talking about? So my point is:they refuse to see anything wrong with their beliefs. Just wanted to point that out. :D

I am a Lutheran Pastor...but I have GREAT LOVE for those "Mormons," which by the way, I consider my BROTHERS AND SISTERS in Christ....
Salvation- is LINKED TO THE MAN, and not necessarily on information ABOUT THE MAN. The Thief on the cross did not know "the full gospel," but he placed his faith on Christ himself....and because of this, he was saved. Salvation is by GRACE, not through our "theological correctness." So I say, let those Mormons serve Christ and do good!

I've always been confused about the Adam-God doctrine taught by Brigham Young for twenty some odd years. He said our salvation depended on our eventual acceptance of Adam, the first man, as our "Father and our God, the only God with whom we have to do." (Journal of Discourses vol. 1, p. 51). The Journal of Discourses was the precursor to the Ensign. I've never been able to find an answer to this question. If anyone knows, please tell me. Thanks!

1)Why does the Book of Mormon say that Lehi found horses when he arrived in America? The horse did not exist in the Americas until the Spaniards brought them over in the sixteenth century.
2) Why was Nephi stated to have a bow of steel? Jews did not have steel at that time, and no iron was smelted in the Americas until the Spanish colonization.

ok we all do have faith in Heavenly Father. That has nothing to do with the fact that there isnt any archeological evidence for the things that took place in the Book of Mormon. Why would God take all the evidence away? The Bible gets criticized a lot too but the bible at least has a lot of evidence of geography, written texts ,coins, animals, plants and more that supports all its events. So thats something you have to realize as well.

So what if every sunday is a different subject. Those subjects typical are about the church itself and rarely about Christ. Their services are mostly about testimonies, "I know the church is true", "I know JS was a prophet" ( repeating it adnausem as the tears run down their faces ). There's very little about how to have a personal relationship with God ( because mormons don't believe that's possible ), and almost all about the masonic temple rituals that are necessary to know (their) god.

If you like to be controlled and told what to do by men, join the lds church. It's a family oriented church where some children are starved to make sure they fast. Other children are beaten or grounded if they don't attend every meeting. So, if you're into bondage, self righteousness and control, the church of cheese and crackers is right for you.

The love of church and sanctimonious behavior of the men can destroy lives. I have seen people take their own lives because of this evil man made religion. The victims realized that ending their lives would stop the suffering and guilt inflicted by family and the church.

Outward appearance of Mormons will never reveal the truth. What goes on behind closed doors is rarely set out in the open. I know there are bad apples in every walk of society but the pride and condemnation of the priesthood is not something that a holy God would approve of. Male dominance and working towards godhood is actually a blasphemy.

I do not wish to attack mormon beliefs, but I would like to understand a few things about them...
1) Why aren't the words of Christ enough to set you right with God? He said that's all you need... so why attach yourself to JS (a mere human) ?
2) Why are there so many inconsistencies from early mormon times to now? - This has not happend with Christianity.
Christ's message has not changed at all. It stays the same, in my opinion, because God protects it for those who seek it.

Oh, no doubt about it. I completely agree with you.
My point, however, is that the word of Christ has remained consistent. Whether or not people follow it correctly is another issue. (Truth is, none of us follow it to a T, but that's where the endless grace of God steps in, and the mere requirement of pure belief saves you.)
If we are going to look at individual cases, you definiately make a valid point. Mormons, however, leave me scratching my head... why drift from Christ?

Praying is about all we can do. Forced conversion is not from the heart, and it's useless... I agree that they are (usually) some of the kindest folks around, but they refuse to understand that their teachings are quite skewed. The freedom(s) they seek are sitting right there in Christ. They don't need the additional gospel of Joesph Smith.
Christ is all one needs.

Monson, just like in day's of Christ the righteous would follow his words, the prophet is given revelation from God and Jesus and it get's distributed through out the world! Book of Mormon is a record of the America's and it is the "one book" that has been translated only once and by Joseph Smith who was a Prophet. Just like prophets of old we follow all prophets words because they come from Heavenly Father!

Joseph Smith's life was all about the teachings of our Savior Jesus Christ. I'm sad that so many people have wasted so much time in their lives to malign the LDS church.

I think I can answer number 1..
1) It's not that the words of Christ aren't enough. In fact, the words are what we live by. Joseph Smith is a Prophet that revealed the ancient writings on brass plates, and he wrote them into a book, which we call The Book of Mormon. We do not worship JS, we just acknowledge him as a Prophet.

@Fitzthum1990 I understand what you're saying. However, why have I read (from mormon sources, not anti-ones) that you will be judged by Jesus, God, and Joseph Smith? First off, God and Jesus are the same being. The son is in the Father, and the Father in the son. They are the same, they are equal. Jesus is his human form. To be judged by both is to be judged by one.
As for JS being a qualified judge.. that's nonsense. What makes him greater than all other prophets, if he truly is one?

The problem I have, is why an entirely different book is needed (book of Mormon). The words of Christ should be fulfilling enough to a believer. Books that add on to his word, in my opinion, should not be considered as essential to salvation. I just don't agree.

Hmm, that is interesting. It might have been an FLDS video. (Fundamentalist LDS churches are the ones who still practice polygamy, and are in no way connected to us) But idk. And if you don't agree with the Book of Mormon, well, who am I to judge you for that. Even though my church says "we are the true church." I still have the thought of everyone having the right church for them. And again, only God Himself can make the judgment in the end on who was right and who was wrong.

In the end, knowing Jesus and drawing near him is the key to salvation in my opinion.

Answers to your questions:
1. God has always called prophets (Moses, Abraham, Noah, etc) so it really is not that strange to believe in prophets. They are not a source of worship, Christ is the only one we worship.
2. Christianity has no inconsistencies? Have you heard of the Crusades? The Roman Inquisition? Indulgences? Look these up and it may enlighten you. There are good and bad seeds in every religious group.

1. Joseph Smith was a mere human like Peter James and John...who, like JS, revered Jesus Christ, and shared his teachings.
2. There are no inconsistencies when you have full context. Some may have thought it inconsistent when Peter received revelation saying that it was now okay to bring the gospel to the gentiles. It was just the right time for that change. That is the beauty of continuing revelation...which is the rock that Christ's church was founded on.

How do you reconcile the inconsistencies required to be a proud member? I mean like the book of Abraham? It's almost comical.... JS purchased a mummy from a traveling exhibition and it just happened to contain a papyri in "reformed egyptian" that JS knew how to translate. Lo and behold once "translated" it was the book of Abraham!!!! The problem is the papyri was found in 1966 and egyptologists say it has nothing to do with what JS "translated"! LOL. JS was a false prophet, polygamist liar

The whole Mormon doctrine is false and rack full of mistakes and contradictions, the majority of them also do feel multiple wives is ok based on the scriptures, but many wont do it because they know that they will be prosecuted. They have many non cristian man made rituals they practice in private.

RE:Name of the Savior... Answer SO WHAT this means NOTHING. In 2Co 11:14 says Satan masquerades as an angel of light.. this does NOT mean Satan is so.. In the SAME way have the name of "Jesus Christ" in the church means NOTHING since LDS teaches blasphemous things about Christ and God the Father...

Myth 3. LDS theology is NOT CHRISTIAN. They bible NOWHERE teaches that Jesus and satan are brothers this teaching ALONE disqualifies LDS theology. .. Jn 8:24 I told you that you would die in your sins; if you do not believe that I am the one I claim to be , you will indeed die in your sins. Jesus NEVER claimed to be the brother of Satan

I guess than you guys would call Joseph Smith and Brigham Young liars then these days. About the poligamy, You do practice spiritual poligamy, if you don't believe in it, why is section 132 still there?
