  • Great job. Yes you do remind me of Richie Kamuca and to some extent, at least in the first few bars, Stan Getz. You improvisation while not losing the melody was very good. I play tenor sax and trombone and am doing some recording at home as well. Pretty much use the same setup but with Acoustica Studio Pro and MMO backing tracks. Thanks for posting your rendition of What's New. One of my favorites

  • How long have you been playing the sax? Great sound.

  • perfect man just the way i like it so relaxing nd the end , please dont worry bout it i think it was great

  • Thanks man, it's GREAT to hear someone that's just trying to make some good music... NOT just trying to out CHOPS everybody or MACHINE GUN us to death!!!

    Keep Posting,

  • oh very nice mood!

  • Wonderful tone. I want to trade my Selmer LaVoix in for a more professional horn. What do you recomend. Also, what brand of Tenor are you using?

  • very good mouthpiece....bravo!

  • Simply, the best from my pint of view.

I ussually hear music in the office. Music from CDs or just from the radio but after finding crazydaisydoo's music here I decided to create a playlist.

    He is an amazing performer.

  • Bravo! I play the Tenor in Jazz band and I love it! I hope to someday sound as good as you!!! One question though, what sort of reeds do you use and what sort of mouthpiece? I use a 2.5 reed and I cant remember the name of my mouthpiece..lol..but Yea..what do you use?

  • Quality!!

  • Another great recording CDD, thanks for sharing them and I'm pleased you switched to tenor :-)

I am learning to play the tenor, very late in life, and the sound you have is the sound I strive for and like Saintyared it reminds me of Stan.

    Keep them coming.

  • Thanks for sharing with us your videos, I to am learning alto sax and you are really inspiring for the easyness and casual way you turn sequences of notes into pure pleasure! May I ask you what kind of mic you are using? Is it connected to the computer? DO you use any program to manipulate sound (echoes atc)?

  • Thanks for the kind words, my recording set up is simple. I use garageband with an alesis 1402 firewire interface and a rode nt2a mic. I use a little reverb only, again added in garageband. Garageband is mac only, but you can use audacity on a pc

  • do you play the Aebersold base in background, listening to it in your headset and mixing with the sax trace in GB? Or do you first record the sax (with base in h.set) and then load in GB both base and sax, adjusting tempo and effects?

Sorry for asking so many questions but I am really interested in doing some home recording and I'd like to start with the right steps...

  • I first load the Aebersold backing track into GB, then I monitor the backing track in the headphones while recording the sax. This means I only record the sax on track 2, so I can adjust the levels and reverb without spill from the backing.

  • nice bit of getzing love your style buddy

  • just great, real jazz!

  • You know, I'm picky as hell with my jazz, but I just love everything you do. I would LOVE to hear what you'd do with "My Little Brown Book" or "Wave"...or "The Peacocks," if you're up to it.

  • i play alto thinking of maybe trying out the tenor for a bit

im afraid of loosing the lips for alto

  • Some people can do both...I am finding it difficult. Try and borrow one for a while :-)

  • What I would like to have your nice sound on tenor :-) But I need to wait 200 years yet :-(.

    A lot of good inspiration....

Hé what's wrong with the ending.... it's ok for my ears....:-)

  • You have an incredible sound -- you remind me of Stan and Dexter. Your increasing dexterity (pun unintended) on the tenor is a pleasure to witness. The calamity you forewarned at the end was de minimus.

  • I am not worthy as even a page turner for either of those, but it is very kind of you to say so :-) And, I like the de minimus, at least not a D minus. Thanks for subscribing, it wil get better :-)

  • Yes,yes, yes!!! Absolutely superb, very lyrical, singing tone quality. And the melancholy atmosphere - it fits the lyrics. The tenor is a real tenor now.

  • Thanks Uli, my alto exclusion policy is working then, although I am feeling a little guilty :_(
