Regardless, props on making this tutorial video. Not bad of a tutorial. Will definitely make a good start for all the newbies. However, this isn't too much of an advanced tutorial--more of a beginner's tutorial. But w/e, still, nice work.

LOL, as a pro competitive soldier (or even if you just plan on being good at all) you NEED to practice DIRECT hits with the rocket launcher to maximize damage! Sure, if you're a newbie you should utilize splash damage with the rocket launcher, but only if you can't aim too well. Once you get used to the game, you should sway towards getting those direct hits. This is one of those things that separates those average soldiers from the pro soldiers.

@Fangscream pugs and mge don't make you a pro. Invite is considered pro, I don't recognize your name from any of the rosters for those teams. Also, on your channel you have no videos from those teams, so your most likely not a pro. Besides, all of the high level players such as tlr aim for the ground just behind their enemy in order to pop them into the air. So that's where your wrong. Watch some of the pros demos, and until then try not to give people bad ideas.

If you didn't know how much health he had left, you wouldn't know whether to push on, or back off.

You shoot the fleeing soldier with your shotgun, doing 46 damage. You shoot him again, dealing 34 damage. The enemy soldier is dead, leaving you to continue guarding your control point, intel, cart, or capturing them. Long story short, it's a great option. It's useful for other classes, too.

Protip:

1) Go to advanced options

2) Scroll down to "See damage done as text over target."

3) Check it.

4) Scroll down to "Play a sound when doing damage." (or something like that)

5) Check it.

6) ???

7) Pwnage!

The damage really does help you calculate whether or not to keep on pushing on an enemy.

Example: You shot a rocket. It shows you did 80 damage to another soldier. You shot another rocket. It shows you did 60 damage. He runs away.

Soldier is not overpowered. no way. He cant one shot kill at any range and inflict major splash damage but that's completely fair right? His health is ungodly high and you have more of a chance of pigs flying that getting a damaging critical on him as well but hey he's really slow so that makes him balanced right? Oh BTW did I mention he carry's a shotgun as well.

Hey guys I have a problem against soldiers. Today I played against an only Soldier team. It was 4 vs 4 because it was a bit late and it was on the third part of the map goldrush. I was attacking and the four soldiers just killed our whole team. So I said "Okay, let's take an Anti-Soldier class." I was dead and looked at the other 8 classes in this game and realized "Fuck, all these classes are weak against soldiers!". So please help me! How can I stop Soldiers?!

Pyros can airblast rockets back at soldiers.

Scoots can use their speed to flank them, and just jump everywhere around them.

Spies can backstab them since Soldiers are slow.

Snipers can take them out from far away and avoid rockets because of the distance.

@Noxcer I play the Scout often and I think he is very weak against Soldiers. Scouts can beat everything except for Soldiers and Engineers. Pyros are only effective as long as he can ambush his enemies, but ambushing was impossible because they just spammed rockets in all possible directions. I think the airblast is only a defensive abillity because its very difficult to use it right. I use it only to get away from a soldier. I suck at playing the Spy so i will try it with the sniper next time.

Pyros can't do shit if you attack them from the side and again,shotgun ftw.

Spies are not that big of a deal if you spot them because of splash damage

tactics wise:

mix up your movements, your average f2p soldier is horrible at accuracy (i know i'll be corrected on this)

see rockets, its pretty hard to not see a flaming rocket coming at you

snipers are moderate against soldiers, so long as he doesn't see you.

spies are average but i wouldn't rely on them too much.

soldiers have low clip sizes, use this to your advantage.

@ToastJunkie420 vanilla means something like original. in this case it means the weapons the soldiers starts with. thus the rocket launcher, shotgun and shovel.

Hmmm, soldier is the best class for me, although every class is balanced, except the heavy in arena modes. For pyros, I like to aim at their sides so they will not be able to airblast my rockets away, the best way to do that is to be on level ground with them. Soldiers are particularly strong because they have the ability to dish out extreme damage and are considered tanks. Unlike the heavy, they are also considered quick with rocket jumping.

@yukoko94 and where most would argue this makes them OP, as with the demo and their strong splash damage along with traps.. Their biggest downfall is they deal damage to themselves quite often. I've killed myself so many times by rocket jumping away fro ma heavy or from stickies on a group.

@TSDFurReal Control the amount of rocket jumping you do and constantly cycle through your primary and secondary weapon, mainly, the vanilla and the shotgun. Always do your rocket jumping by turning 180 degrees quickly and shooting the floor at about 30 degrees.In addition, there is the reserve rocket rule. The rule is for more professional players mainly, if you're using the vanilla, shoot only 3 of the rockets and keep the last one in case of extreme situations. This will help in your survival.

@yukoko94 Well the savign rockets isn't always a big deal for me since I use auto reload. I also use the goanboats instead of the shotgun because I do a lot more ambush from above instead of charging. Though I have been REALLY getting into juggling with a pyro... Cruel, yet efficient.
