  • I like ITF more.

Mainly because I practise ITF and not WTF.

  • Yesterday I tried to do this...

When I jumped I fell down onto the ground -_-

  • Would never try this kick in a real fight but holy shit you won't believe how much stopping power this kick has if done right. It makes the heavy bag touch the ceiling practically. I train karate though, although pretty much the same kick.

  • Thank you Sabumnim.

  • Hmmm, I do Karate but our "Tobi Yoko Geri" is all identical. We never practiced this kick in our Dojo/Dojang, but I can see a great application if you're running away from someone and his mate approaches in front of you. So thank you very much for this tutorial. Now it bears out to my punching bag to practice. And btw, DAMN these guys jump high! =O

  • Me encanta verlo...! aunque no este en mi idioma... !

  • Me encanta verlo...! aunque no sea en mi idioma... !

  • This was very informative. Thanks!*bow*

  • Taekwondo + Boxing = Master

  • "Finally, land on the ground..." uh...thank you, I would have forgotten lol.

  • I like this video very much, well done to all involved :)

  • he is a president of korean teakwondo masters

  • @macnov27 are you dumb ? Its not the art ! its the martial artist lol your one of the few tkd hater who doesn't train martial art but like to say negatives comment about other martial art!! fck your mma shit tkd rocks get a like.. train and prove it, not prove it by what you see, because your eyes are stupid as you. This ppl deasnt need to prove something on mma octagon we train for spiritual motives not for the street fighting we have our own way of protecting out self, own sport...

  • @JDL8807207 i do taekwondo and we do train for street fighting. self defence means we train to protect ourselfs from attacks where ever they can occur

UFC is a sport not a martial art. there are rules in the ring, actually alot of rules

  • I wonder who is he ??

can anyone tell me please ?

  • @sohny12345 Who? The long haired guy who resembles Liu Kang? His name is Shin Chul Kang. One of the greatest grand masters ever, in all of MA.

  • @MasterMacLeod thanks but is there any information on this guy ? GM kang shin chul ?

  • @sohny12345 Well, for starters, you can watch the Human Weapon episode featuring TKD and you'll learn a lot about him, also there are plenty of vids featuring him on YT, but they don't necessarily address him by name in the credits, it's more of a cameo or a "guest starring" feature. Afterwards, there's always google.

  • ok ppl who say that taekwondo is useless are obviously influenced by the two point tap hits they see in the olympics or are just one of those close minded, ignorant, and annoying MMA/ UfC fans that just rape vids containing traditional martial arts with hate comments about how the certain martial arts isn't as effective and deadly as mma... u might as well just get gun if u want the most effective... like seriously martial arts is about self defense, increase in confidence and metabolism...

  • Estoy traduciendo este video a Español.

  • Comment removed

  • actually NO martial arts is the best, you have to mix em up, so you get a REAL fighter, one of my friends know kung fu, yeah, he can do some moves in a real fight, but i still fight better than him, know why?

i hadn´t trained as much as him in only one martial art..

  • Guys.tkd is often confused with tkd Olympic style sparring. That is a SPORT version of tkd.. Tkd can be useful on the street. They have many hand locks and pins as well. If you are intelligent, with tkd knowledge, you don't fight Olympic style. That's stupid. I tried and got my ass handled but I quickly switched to traditional tkd and knocked the kid down.. If you use tkd with power kicks more than speed, you WILL cause a lot of damage.

  • taekwando is the great offensive attack....

  • very very good hope to see more thanks

  • Any MMA fIghter would have a hard time against the legit TKD who do both kicking and punching. None of that chi shit. An MMA fighter is good but really what can you do when a K.O. kick is coming at you? Put your arm in the way and it breaks along with a rib. In sport matches i can see MMA being better but on the street i would rather have TKD

  • @PrimeHumanity wow! u really have no clue what u are saying here. with respect u must begin to study. research ,study than drop opinions

  • VERY GOOD THANKS

  • What's his name again? His my masters grandmaster :)

  • Guess people should start searching up WHY taekwondo was made and what its intents are.

If you wanna bash martial arts, bash wrestling. I will never accept wrestling as an art.

  • taekwondo is nice

  • this guy is excellent kicker why dont he try in olympics???

  • @convovial taekwando is supposed to kill not compete..

  • i compared this video with another i saw...and i'm confident to say this one is a very well-rounded tutorial for SK, i want to try this one:D

  • dam its to bad the old man doesnt demostrate more of these kicks

no disrespect for the young guys kicks

  • this is the right style side kick in tkd, unlike the karate style S.K. the side kick was changed in tkd .

  • Or duck.

  • if this kick is performed correctly the opponent will neither be able block the leg nor catch it.His only defense is to move back.excellent.

  • I could see how this move would work but also see many ways this move would fail. Miserably.

  • Now this guy is actually good. But there are too many crappy guys, even from korea.

  • nice kick but if you dodge it ,they are way off balance when they land and asking for a sweep

  • @croccostimpy well for the most part yea but alot od tkd fighter do kikc witch r easier to contol and dont use the full pivot not as strong but alot fast and less chance of getting grab

  • imagine how many ppl broke their leg or rolled their ankle trying to do this...

  • Why?

  • this guy owns the best tkd studio in korea.

  • Hi, What is the song's name at the end?!!!..

  • Hey i doing almost like that, look at my video, is it ok, can you tell me my mestakes, to do it better?

  • "The Wings of a Boy that Killed Adolescence" from the anime Gundam Wing.

  • FLAWLESS!!!

  • muy educativo, bueniiisimo

  • What is the music is in the credits at the end of the vid. it is so gooood!

  • this was my breaking technyc, it was so hard to get down, lol but its so fun to do.

  • @80smash80, Tae Kwon Do comes from the Korean Taekkyon. Whoever said it came from Japanese Karate needs to do more research.

  • Actualy it does the creator of Taekwondo trained got a 2nd dan black belt in karate also trained in Teakkyon which he merged to create Taekwindo

  • The Karate he trained is Shotokan

  • @XtraSd In fact, It comes from neither. Both were used as a strong influence. Assuming you are familiar with ITF Tae Kwon-Do, you would be ignorant to say that TKD wasn't influenced in any way from Karate. Take a look at pattern Won Hyo (6th Kup tul).....its almost identical in diagram and movements (with changes) to the Shotokan Kata 'Heian Nidan'. around 75% of hand techniques look pretty much identical to Karate Techniques (Double Forearm Block, Straight Fingertip Thrust etc).

  • @XtraSd Not starting an arguement but merely making observations. I think your statement comes across as 'Karate had no influence whatsoever on Tae Kwon-Do' This might not be the case but either way. You are entitled to your opinion :)

  • super over-complication of the kick

  • the most simple version is jump and kick however it will be much harder to do.

  • Taekwon-Do like any martial art has its strengths and weaknesses. It is up to the individual exponent of the art not the art itself. Any martial art can be devastating - heck even Tai Chi can be a killer - it is up to the true individual practioners - of which sadly not many are around.

  • 80smashe80, Taekwondo is not made from made it from karate. It originally from Korea. You have to do some research. ^^

  • Gotta love that cheesey music

  • Great kicks and instructional!!!!

  • thank you so much you taught me what my martial arts teacher could'nt.... i recently got to know that the guy was a conman.

  • i learn tkd and they told me that general... made it from karate and traditional nation fighting sports and i think he took best from every one of them and that s why it s so good . because of other fithing sports

  • wats the name of the teacher on these videos. the guy that kinda looks like baek from tekken

  • one of the best taekwons around

  • same here sotkata1. i've read so many comments like those and it pisses me off. For those of you who leave bad comments about taekwondo you people either don't even practice taekwondo or you quit taekwondo for another martial art because it's not cool or doesn't have any complicated maneuvers you can use in combat. That's all lies. Taekwondo has techniques that can whoop all ur asses. TAEKWONDO RULEZ!!!!!

  • i love taekwondo n ballet!^_^

  • I've read lots of comments about how silly and useless is TAEKWONDO but thesse words are from people who DO NOT practice any martial arts/they just watch the olypics and make a stupid conclusion / they do NOt know what is to be a TKD fighter I bet that a good responsible TKD fighter will beat their ass up alll of them because a fighter like TKD has techniques and strenght .OUR kicks are astonishing and full of energy . fot those of you who do not appreciate this ART

    >>>TAEKWONDO RULZZZ 4ever

  • @sotkata1

dude i too lived the lie of taekwondo, karate kung fu etc, i started taekwondo at 15, and got to red belt, i was good but then i saw a takwondo blackbelt 3 dan get his ass handed to him by a boxer in the local YMCA and thats the truth, next day i started MMA and havent stopped

  • @sotkata1 i agree with u but i am not one who practices the martial arts, but TKD is a superior art

  • @sotkata1 disagree, TKD is a sport, in reality muy thai will own TKD. even in real fight 80% of the time you will be on the ground, but i'm sure you are already under the assumption of thinking TKD is the best. I'm not dissing you, i'm just saying TKD isn't that great when it comes to real combat.

  • @sotkata1 It shouldn't matter to you what people say right? All practicers of TKD do practice for the art, for the community of TKD and for your selves. There is no need to prove the strength of it.

I can only laugh?>"this martial art is the best"

Just because they saw one Muay Thai fighter fight against an TKD fighter?

You know there aren't just these two people in the whole world ,who practice TKD or Muay Thai, oh and allmost everbody forget about the different types.... tradition and sport...

  • @sotkata1 I couldnt agree more. My father is a taekwondo black belt and he trained me for 9 years..I am a practitioner of Shudokan Karate do but taekwondo helped shape my kicking to what it is today.

  • @sotkata1

you are right I have practiced kickboxing, krav maga and now im with taekwondo brown belt and i think is the best martial art i´ve practiced

  • @sotkata1 ur right for the most part but a responsible tkd master wouldnt go around beating up noobs :P

  • @sotkata1 yes you are right.i hate to see most people making bad comments on tkd

  • tae-kwon-do is about striking ur opponent with speed strength and accuracy to end the fight quckly as possible.very dangerous

  • The idea of Tae kwon do kick is to hit an opponent with such speed force and accuarcy that they are incapable of fighting back. Hence not as a many hand strikes.

  • Taekwondo uses kick primarily, but it has loads of hand strikes too for street self defense. In Taekwondo sparring competition, striking with hands in the face is prohibited to encourage kicking technique. Hand techniques are easy to learn than leg techniques. Once you make your legs kick as fast as you punch, you're a lethal weapon. Taekwondo has some Karate, jujistsu, & kung fu moves too. Taekwondo is for us to make friends and not to make enemies.

  • Tae Kwon Do has loads of hand strikes trust me....i remember doing this flying kick on my instructor i jumped 7 foot long and kicked him...he went another 7 foot back coz of the kick...i love this kick

  • easy kick

  • He's a Chinese i bet it...he learns korean

  • jajaja!! he is similar to baek doo san JAJAJAJ!!!

  • Hi, thanks for uploading this video - shall pracitce my little butt!

  • Fantastico!!!

  • whoa!! that's ga baek from tekken!!

  • thats the TKD LEGEND OMG

  • taekwondo is awesome but it should be taught as a martial art and not just as a sport .

  • tkd is taught as a martial art

  • what i mean is that the martial art aspect of taekwondo is more useful in self defense than the sport style .one can become a devastating fighter.

  • There is no better martial art, only better artists. One should not be limited by their training. it is just as dangerous for a grappler to rush a tkd guy as it is for a tkd to be close to a grappler. At the higher echelons of martial arts one should strive to be techniqueless flowing and adaptive. TKD is not for everyone neither is BjJ. your primary art should come from a reflection of the self, not a desire to win competition or score points. stop bickering it is not how a warrior should act.

  • well said!

  • very well put

  • oh by the way... your just a practitioner, not a master...

and to those people who says that taekwondo sucks, it's just in your country. Not in Korea...

  • oh by the way... your just a practitioner, not a master...

and to those people who says that taekwondo sucks, it's just in your country. Not in Korea...

  • TKD does kinda suck, there are some good kicks, but it's mostly only good against other TKD students. If you don't agree with me then look at the MMA fights in early 1990's, when TKD guys tryed to join, they got their asses kicked.

  • Seeing as you don't actually do TKD, and you take a fist in the ass on a regular basis, you are not qualified to make stupid remarks. Just because you saw a video of a TKD guy losing doesn't mean TKD isn't good. Why don't you go and get your ass handed to you by a TKD practitioner before writing stupid reviews no one wants to read?

  • Phil hows the TKD class, still chugging for that yellow belt?

  • TKD class is great. How's being a paedophile working out for you?

  • Hey listen up I have been training in San Shou for a few years now, as well as jiu jitsu. Some kid at school, who had done TKD for 7 years wanted to fight me, I knocked his ass out in 40 seconds. Don't give me shit about not knowing what TKD is, and also my best friend, who REALIZES TKD SUCKS, has lost in a friendly sparring match to me before I even took martial arts. Talk about a stupid comment.

  • It's a shame that you're ignorant enough to generalise your retarded friend's weakness to all TKD practitioners.

  • Well I have datapoints. I know people at my gym that have earned black belts in TKD, I have a close friend with a black belt in TKD, and I have enemies who practice TKD. Sure it helps, but it isn't reliable in a combat situation. No doubt a TKD guy can fight, but it's so much harder to be a better fighter with only TKD in your arsenal. It's kind of like football, while it can be used in combat, it is not as easy to use as Kickboxing or Jiu jitsu would be.

  • I would say TKD is better for self-defense than jiu jitsu because when you take a fight to the ground people are going to stomp on you and you'll be in serious trouble. Anyway, a woman from my previous TKD class managed to fend off 5 attackers on her way home one night (a few of them ran away) which suggests that it is good for self-defense.

  • THIS IS AMATURE HOUR!!

  • your completly right its pretty hard to kick on the ground are when your enemy is punching the hell out of you up close

  • First of all i would like to see you guys say that to Bren Foster's face, u guys would get fucking killed and second of all taekwondo has many punches. i bet you guys are a bunch of fat bastards on the computer all day playing world of warcraft.

  • ill like to see bren foster fight in a closed space he's good with kicks but when it comes to fighting when your opponet is practicly touching you look up kiss of the dragon fight scene and you'll know what in talking about

  • true but if it's not in close quarters you know he'd win

  • oh by the way im a a practioneer of jeet kune do kendo and many grappleing arts i know what im talking about

  • Thats great.

  • tbh, jack of all trades king of none sucks balls. oh and jeet kune do's dead. shame really. (well actaully i just didnt wanna be taught by this fat american who called himself a master when he came our area.)

  • lmfao, rinsed. +10

  • The easiest way to beat a TKD fighter is to just step in to his kicks and catch his legs. Even if you get kicked once or twice once you are on the mat the TKD fighter is pretty much defenseless.

  • You could say that for any martial art which has kicks. TKD also has plenty of hand techniques you know.

  • Lol find one TKD video where the TKD guy doesn't rely on his feet, and I'll show you a kickboxer.

  • Hold on, you changed your point. Just because a fighter relies on foot attacks does not necessarily mean you can step in on their kicks. Using your logic I could say that the easy way to defeat a Jiu-Jitsu fighter is to stamp on their head when they go on the ground, because they rely on grappling on the ground. Anyway, I found various videos of TKD punching but I don't see why a TKD fighter would stop using all their kicks just because you think you can step in when you actually can't.

  • Ok so you think that when you are being pinned to the mat flat on your back you can "stamp" on their head?? I can guarantee that if a TKD practitioneer throws a round house kick and the opposing fighter steps in close enough so that the TKD guy's shin is past his back, he could throw a few hooks or set up a double/single leg takedown. I am not saying that "JIU JITSU R PWN ALL HAR HAR HAR" I think it's best to intergrate techniques from any art with useful skils, doing otherwise is ignorant.

  • Yep. The place where I learn TKD also teaches grappling and throws.

  • Good point...There are different ranges of combat. TKD is best in the kicking range. Jujitsu is good in the close and ground range. So if you want to be well rounded why not train in each aspect of the range. Thats what most MMA fighters do.

Also, there is a big difference between martial sports, martial arts, and self defense.

  • MMA is not actually truthful to its name "Mixed martial arts" - it is predominantly Brazillian Jiu Jitsu (well at least from where I have trained). The true "mixed martial art" is Bruce Lee's theory of Jeet Kune Do.

  • agreed

  • The only time I have successfully used this kick was when jumping into a fight. Especially in school, since you have little manuvering room I doubt you would be able to use this if you were surrounded by a ring of kids chanting "fight". Still this kick is awesome

  • yeah the sidekick is good for sparting

  • i just love the axe kick and i specialized myself on the side kick won a lot of times because of it

  • iagree its a kick that you can sit behind if in trouble...

  • somebody kwno where can i get sup for this dvd?

  • ....and of course it doenst look good eiter -.-

  • bezerka i pwnd someone with a side kick in a fight i won gold :D was freakin sweet! was at Ft worth international tournament i was little though about 6th grade :P i still whooped someones ass lol they kicked me in the face and balls i got pissed!

  • omg this kick brings tingles down my neck imagine the beauty of pwning somebody in a fight with everbody watching.

  • (continued)the point of a jumping(flying) side kick is to deliver the momentum created by running into the opponent would it work in ufc maybe in the streets maybe i actually seen it used twice in a street fight shit was cool but this kick should be used when the opponent is tired or dazed cause i think u can just move out of the way of the kick if u see it in time

  • its cause ufc dudes r 2 big there like 200lb+ when they jump it would be slow plus ur in a octogon u have to be far away from the oponent to delivery that kick.

  • yeah try that against a ufc person, they will own you.

  • Aright, yves edwards did it and won...jackass.

  • ive never even seen someone do that in ufc, why? because it woulnt work. show me a video of it, you dumbass.

  • You sounded so confident that you knew it has never happened in the ufc, yet you question the fact of if it has or not.

    Serkhan Yilmaz

He's gotta video on here look him up, he even does it "wrong" haha.

    Oh yeah...dumbass.

  • look up yves vs nick thompson too

  • tried that, own them.

  • I have the utmost respect for KwanJangNim Kang! 5 stars!!

  • omg choson.. wow its like spotting big foot seeing you comment.

  • That is awesome!

  • awsome

  • With practice on technique, speed and power i beleive that if you have the distance to get a slight run up to ur opponent, then i think that this kick could be pretty effective on the street.

  • yeah if ur opponent isnt 7 ft tall..:P..cmon...he's demonstrating a kick in like 8ft jumps..

  • Hehe...that is true but its possible to get a side kick at 5-6ft high. So Its a possible technique on the streets but not very practical

  • yeah...when I get ready to jump in the air he can just take out a double barrel and blow my legs off...then tkd wont help me..

  • True. But how many people do you know carry around double barreled shotguns with them everywhere they go? To be fair, Martial Arts in general are used to defend yourself. If the situation is impossible to be solved using the Art eg gun to head and no way of defending yourself then you resort to negotiation.

  • nah...after 5 years of jeet kune do,jiu jitsu,judo,hapkido,MMA,muay tai,kung fu,kenpo..etc..Ive always seemed to ignore tkd...only because it always seemed weak..so bleh..i dont care..

  • Hehe. It's the same thing again. Tae Kwon-Do is crap coz Tae Kwon-Do is weak. But to be fair.....who is it that is doing the TKD techniques? The practitioner so i would like to say your wrong lol.

  • fine mister tkd..my freind is in tkd training..they dont strengthen the muscle and bone in their legs..in my muay tai and jeet kune do..I basically knocked tree's over with my fists and legs..in tkd its mostly aerobicy..spinny showy stuff...so..bleh..like I said I dont care..

  • Actually.....no. Its not all aerobic stuff. Sure we don't use makiwara and the like but we strengthen our muscles using various exercises involving techniques. It works. I had no strength in my legs and arms and now since i started training, i do. BTW if you think your so great at MMA then i would like to see you take it up with my head instructor about Tae Kwon-Do's 'crapness' His tongue is as hard as his kicks. Though i respect your opinion on the subject :)

  • meh

  • ill rip his tongue off with his own hand..then.I'll throw him through a 35 story building window and then drop a penny on him..hahaha..and dont use ur master as an excuse..ill destroy u both...bahahahah!

  • I'm not using my master as an excuse but im sure he cud put up a hell of a debate on the subject lol. BTW he isnt my Master in the sense of the word as he isn't the correct grade yet

  • lol he can debate while he's flying through the air.....maybe he'll live...last guy who I threw off the building lived...so I threw him off again..

  • You say you don't care but if you didn't, you wouldn't be continuing the debate. Btw....no1 respects a keyboard warrior. I could just as easily say that i could set you alight using a flamethrower. So to be fair, stop with the whole 'i could beat u and you 'master up'. Its not impressive at all.

  • yeah I guess...since I havent met him anyway...just judging taekwondo basically..

  • Fair enuff. Every1 is entitled to their own opinion. Yours just happens to be negative about Tae Kwon-Do where as mine and my experiences are positive.

  • well....w/e...but I "think" I can kik ur ass...so beleive wat u want..

  • awesome tutorial!!

  • lol the narrorator said the wrong sides

  • i used it when a guy was getting up, since he was lower it hit em in the forehead and flipped him over...

  • you have to learn to do a split to kick that high...

  • wow beatiful tech. and he jumps high with no effort

  • ooh! Put up one for a spinning hook kick! ^-^ It might be easier for me to do, if you guyz do it. ^-^

  • upload the 540 tutorial it's the only one anyone really wants to see haha

  • aaaand, a cup of coffee and a doughnut later I'll just step out of the way while you totally miss...

  • In your dreams maybe

  • Because you win the fight by dodging one kick.

  • Actually in a real fight yes. Thats enough to get you ****ed up

  • Okay, but who uses a flying side kick in a real fight unless they're coming from behind or some angle where they're sure to hit from?

  • oh I'm sure, I wouldn't want to be the receiving end of that kick!
