Anyone know whats wrong? I use Nero 9 and can burn to DVD format no problem but when burning data or music it says successful but the disk is always empty. I tired express, Burning Rom, windows media, even windows XP burn tool. same thing.

can u put programs onto a cd like for e.g camtasia and if i can will it work on another PC or do i have to reinstall it

You can put the install file on a disc or even the files you create with the program, but to use it on another computer you will need to install it.

You need to have the original install file to put on a disc. You cannot take the program that you installed onto your computer as files are scattered everywhere.

A CD will only 700Mb of data, whereas a normal DVD disc will fit 4.7GB of data which is more than 6X the size. It depends on how many discs you want to store. I would choose dvd discs because you can use less discs.

You cannot erase a cdr or a dvd-r or a dvd+r ...They are just writable discs...You have to buy rewritable cd or dvd which is cdrw...Then you can wipe the files from it and reuse it.

If you put data on a cd and make it multisession then you can go back and put more files on it later.

I have put some shit in some cd and on dvd too, and i want to erase it off, and use it as a storage disc. so how do i achieve that??? i tried each and every way, n im not succeeding so i think that it is really not possible.

I have backup up mp3's like this and then depending on your dvd player....it will play them....My dvd player lets me browse folders and play music... Haven't tried it with pictures.

I think it will work on even a trial version. There is also an inbuilt cd burner in Windows XP and Vista.
