Great review for a great game. I forgot that all the licensed music doesn't play while racing. The music was one of the best parts of the game. I remember buying this for Playstation when it came out, and hoping that a new version of Skitchin would be coming out after. Sadly, that never happened. Skitchin was probably my favorite for Sega Gensis. Dunno why, but I always enjoyed it more than the Road Rash games, even though they were all phenomenal as well.
Dug this out tonight after finding it and remembering this review, and discovered an easy way to win alot of races, You get a massive speed boost if you successfully kick other racers (L2 button) Even on the worst bikes you get a massive speed boost.
This is the first video game I ever remember playing, as a five or six year old on my tech-savvy uncle's Windows 95 rig. It went on to become the first game installed on my own computer when we finally got one several years later, and it never ceased to be totally fucking awesome.
I loved this game on PC back in the day. It had its own unique charm with the silly character designs and the "beat the hell out of your opponents" attitude.
played this on the PC back in the day. My mom was mad because the save game menu was in the bathroom of the bar and there were condoms in the toilet. I tried not to save when she was around.
Oh, I hope you guys get a chance to review RR: Jailbreak. That one does some of the things on the wishlist that this one could not. Like real music while in the game and split screen, duel player. Plus, it's just a whole lot more fun.
Too much Grunge BGM. It really hurts my ears to listen to that crappy American trend of the 90's.
Now, about this game, I would say the 3D0 and Saturn ports were much better than this port, but I got to say, who cares? This game is real fun, and probably the second best Road Rash game of the series for me, because the first one is Road Rash 3 for the Genesis. That was an epic installment.
I'm going to get this game. I like the 3Dish 2D graphics, I like the cheezy cinematics, I like the GTA Racing type of gameplay! Thank you for reviewing this game!!!
its no regular music in this game because the playstation has to stream the mapdata because the maps are so big and require more ram than whats available.
Grew up with this game on the computer. Probably one of the best games I've ever played, though in-game music wasn't so good. Thanks for reviewing, it was a nice suprise.

The graphics of the PS1 really show their age here, but the fact that it's a Road Rash game makes that irrelevant.

You should read the other part of the back of the Jewel Case, "Superbikes, Heavy Metal and a baseball bat, what else do you need?"
