I remember my house mate waking me and my girlfriend up in the middle of the night after the first plane hit. The three of us held each other and cried as things unfolded. Pruitt Igoe captures what I felt at that moment perfectly; devastation at the hideous act and loss of life, but also anxiety about what would come.

As I have said in the past, the Bush presidency will be one of the more interesting periods to study in american History. Regardless of what one things of him personally, you cannot deny that his reign was eventful and dynamic.

Also emotion about 9/11 aside, it is amazing how the moment and day itself has almost become the object of myth. Though much of this is due to its construction and exploitation as a piece of propaganda it is no less chilling to see the raw power of it on display.
