That day the world stood on the precipice looking down into the void, the world as we knew it turned a corner none of us wanted too see, America was awoke from its American dream to this site that we all remember, I often wonder what the world would be like today without this attack?
I remember my house mate waking me and my girlfriend up in the middle of the night after the first plane hit. The three of us held each other and cried as things unfolded. Pruitt Igoe captures what I felt at that moment perfectly; devastation at the hideous act and loss of life, but also anxiety about what would come.
I remember thinking that hundreds of thousands more lives would be lost as I watched the towers come down. If only my pessimism had been ill founded.
@MrGarrett223 This video doesnt need silence, it needs reflexion, we need to try to understand why did people wanted to do this to USA and what can we do about it. Leave silence for the afterlife.
As I have said in the past, the Bush presidency will be one of the more interesting periods to study in american History. Regardless of what one things of him personally, you cannot deny that his reign was eventful and dynamic.
Also emotion about 9/11 aside, it is amazing how the moment and day itself has almost become the object of myth. Though much of this is due to its construction and exploitation as a piece of propaganda it is no less chilling to see the raw power of it on display.
This could have been grim, this should have been distasteful...
... and yet it captures the majesty of the towers as an architectural feat, the sheer scale of the disaster, and the overawing melancholy of the aftermath. Well done!
I am Australian. America saved our country from the Japanese in WW2. That wasn't that long ago. If dickheads hit a friend of ours in the nuts we will go way out to make those cocks pay. SAS will kill them every time.
The 9/11 attacks on America was from the perpetrators mind an attack on all of our way of life. Yes, We are not perfect in the way justice is served worldwide. But no logic can justify such a ruthless act. We will however, to try harder. Because fairness is right.
Philip Glass is a genius, a great composer! RIP to all those who died in the attacks of 9/11. oh, and DigitalPh33rson, stfu and take your conspiracy theorist bullshit elsewhere. Must you CTs come and spill your garbage everywhere you go? Long live Philip Glass! UriahRR, so true!
Though this day was the worst. Philip Glass is the best. Between this and 'The Illusionist' soundtrack, I'm hooked. Minimalist is the future of classical.
R.I.P to all those inocent people that suffured a terrible accident on 11th of september 7/11. 2001 and now i just heard a car crash 12:09 am so the world is full of unexpected. the land of opitunity....
This is the only video of 9/11 that I know of with perfectly appropriated theme music. I've been on some that have the bad taste to play rock music???
Quick protip: The architect, Minoru Yamasaki who designed the World Trade Center also designed the Pruitt-Igoe urban housing complex for which this song, I believe was named after.
Agreed. Philip is amazing...this reminds me so much of the first time I watched Candyman (which he scored) and i believe he reused this piece in it...or something very similar
I just thought it would go with the song thats all and it does very well plus am hoping no one thinks am having a go at 9/11 am not i will never forget that day EVER
This fits the song and the original meaning behind the song really well. I imagine it must have been pretty hard to make this without going back in time eight years!
Wow this gives me chills, this is a brilliant video. It really captures the feeling of that horrific day. This is so well edited it doesn't even belong on youtube, absoulutly chilling.

Pruitt–Igoe housing project, St. Louis, Missouri,[12] 1954 (demolished in 1972) designed by Minoru Yamasaki
The World Trade Center also designed by Minoru Yamasaki open in 1973 later destroyed by a terrorist attack.

Sums up my emotion of what happened on that day quite completely.
I remember at work when the news began to trickle to the floor. We kept working because we were not told to stop....
As the news came in I first thought it was a joke, then maybe a small plane.
Then the full realization that something significant had happend.
The end of the American empire seemed to be at hand.
Still we kept working because we were not told to stop.
And it was I guess now it was the begining of the end

I know what Pruitt-Igoe is from the movie Koyaanisqatsi, and from a college course I took in Urban Geography (which was eye-opening).
Hearing the profound Philip Glass music you selected made me cry.
