R u serious? you cant ask people who get their hair done at a salon! Anyone who gets their hair done at a salon is going to end up spending more money than someone who does their hair at home. I think the whole point of natural hair is that you can do it yourself! An at home perm and at home twists are going to be cheap just like salon twists and salon perms will be expensive.
This was a good video. I decided to transition because I was tired of 1. going to the salon every two weeks, 2. Perming every 6-10 months, and 3. sitting in the salon on a Saturday all day. I began doing my own wash and sets and only going to the salon for my perms and or weaves. I am hoping that once I am natural, I can do my own hair unless i want braids or weaves. Thanks for the video.
When Black women go natural we tend to be way more particular about our hair and we are willing to spend much more money pampering our hair. But for the basics relaxers spend MUCH more money.
Clever video. I am natural AND I also do my own hair AND I am not a product junkie. So I spend about $20/month on a few supplies (braids, shea butter, etc). The affordability of going natural for me, has set a very high bar and pales in comparison to my other hair options....natural for life and loving it :-)
i agree at first going natural can be a lil pricey but that is only bcuz you are experimenting w/ products...being natural is cheap when u make your own products & do your own hair. going to a natural hair stylist, yeah it's gonna cost a bunch just like goin to get a perm...geez
I actually doubled what I spent by going natural (the 1st year), it's expensive to explore. With relaxed hair I was a pj. When I first became natural I became a SuperNova PJ. I am proud to say that I am no longer a SuperNova PJ now that I know my hair.
i liked the fact that you interviewed women in a professional environment. On youtube there are many videos about whether or not natural hair looks professional and all these women look very professional with their natural hair.
can I say ----Why? We really need to learn better so we can do better. We waste too much "got- durn" money while making the hair industry rich!! Stop the foolishness.
I'm surprised at how much money people spend on their hair. Wow. I spend maybe $10-$15 a month on my natural hair. But I guess cause I never go to the stylist and I use cheap products. When I was going I did spend more money going every 2 weeks and getting relaxers.
Thank you for thi video.i will Never Ever Relax my Hair Any more.

I agree, it does look professional...it's just a matter of opinion. Some of us still can't look outside the box.

Wow! The ladies with relaxed hair spend a lot of money. I didn't spend that much when I used to get relaxers. Thank God for Paul Mitchell School :-)
