C4 is programmed primarily in C++, but the C++ is so well written that it can be used as a learning tool (but you'll need to learn and persevere). I've also got TGE and TGEA but am staying with C4. I was most disappointed to see that T3D has not yet been componentized, seems to me to be TGEA 2.0 !
In the next release for C4 (April), 1.6, is LOD for the voxel terrain - a world's first I believe. And then in 1.7 is background terrain loading for truly limitless terrains, check out the roadmap,
@sokkerdave I guess it really depends on the games you want to make. Voxels are neat, but I feel it's kind gimmicky at this stage because if Voxels were the hit thing, why aren't there tons of games made with them? The tech is new, but old, if that makes sense.
With Torque, you can pretty much start making your games right away, I don't know about C4, cause I have not tried it.
Whatever works for you though!! For me, Flash is what works, so that's what I use.
@staphinfection The terrain is built with voxels, but an iso surface mesh is created complete with LOD. So, no, voxels are not used in the final game, they are only used to carve the terrain. Carve your terrain in a third party solution such as Acropora and then import the voxels... works just as well.
and how do u add that to a game?

Great functionality, 3D voxel terrain is really cool. But the interface (design) and the terrain textures are not exactly nice...

Incredible terrain editor! I´ve never seen as handy one as this in my life!
Downloading demo. I hope it has all these features to test.

Seeing this makes u wanna cry when thinking about the hours trying to make a decent terrain in BF2 editor as a foundation of a good map
