If you trace back to Proto-Indo-European (Wiki it if you don't know), maybe. But Irish Gaelic is in the Celtic family while English is Germanic, not EXACTLY related.
you're right about that, I looked it up and the resemblance between the two is somewhat superficial. I stand corrected. I had assumed that the similarity in sound between irish gaelic and modern english was due to one influencing the other, but apparently it isn't.
gaelic borrows lots of words from English (well, just like many other languages), that might make them sound similar to you. but in syntax level they are different in every way, the Subject-Verb-Object and Verb-Subject-Object structure, for example :)
that I noticed, for example Garda Síochána na hÉireann if it were translated into an english syntax, but there are much better examples that I don't know of.
not closely, they only belong to the same family but not to the same group. the problem is that, due to colonization and dependence, the irish "had to" borrow many words from the english. The same happened with the welsh and the rest of celtic languages, breton for instance borrowing a lot of french words
Better if the anthem played the melody of the first stanza and the chorus than of the chorus itself. But it would be possible if Ireland unite with the north.
this is the really loooong version, the more commonly used version is the part between 0:49 and 1:46, and should be played with a rousing crescendo! ;)
"No crime committed by a man in the name of his freedom can never be a great as the crime committed by the man who took that freedom away." Pure Celtic culture, unmolested by the Romans, unlike the Britons.
I am not shameless Chinse like you and I will not deny that hisotircal facts.
These crimes were comitted my ancestors not I. Thinking that a man must be sinful because his fathe, grandfather or ancestors committed some crime is a uncivilised character of ancient Chinese judicial system.
"We" are lucky that Sharia law has been deemed as uncivilized and banned in most of civilized nations. Unlike other barbaric nations who preaches the religion of hate.
