Autism Speaks doesn't help us. I don't need their stinking help. If help means making stereotypes and fear-mongering ads about us, count me out. I bet you haven't seen the other videos, like I Am Autism or Autism Every Day, because you clearly don't know what I'm talking about. If you type in "Autism Speaks controversy" or "Autism Speaks doesn't speak for me", you will see why Autism is so hated in one part of the autism community. They don't want to help us. They want to wipe us out.

Autism Speaks does not speak for me. I can speak for myself. FANCYcp said, "Almost all that work for the actual company are loving parents of children with Autism.". That's one issue. The other issue is "Cui bono?"

I don't know why there is so much hate against this video. My brother has autism and I am a researcher in a lab for that studies language markers for the autism spectrum phenotype. I recently asked my friends what autism is, and they had no idea, saying that people with autism can't form emotional attachments to others. It's organizations like Autism Speaks that promote awareness and fight against the ignorance of neurotypicals so that hate and injustice are things of the past.

But please know this- I am a teacher (5 yrs) for children with Autism and I also am a Chair person for Walk Now for Autism Speaks--- I would NOT work for them if what you were saying were true. When you have a child, you will understand. 60% of all marraiges fail. 75% of marriages will fail with twins. Up that with a disabled or different child with special needs. Does that mean that an autistic child isn't wonderful and great? NO but it IS a harsh fact of reality. It's hard to be a teenager, I get that but it is detrimental to a parent fighting for their child's life
