Sully, you can do a roll if you hold down either L or R and press Y. You can also do a rolling long jump where you jump as soon as you hit the ground after rolling. This lets you go a lot farther than a normal long jump. I'm not sure if you know this by now (I've skipped some videos) but I hope it helps!
