It was the REASOn they did it. I think in places like this it is imcumbent upon black people to rise above and leave behind white trash, even if as a black person you are poor. There's always been a dignity an need to be in the know and above it all which has seen poor blacks overcome better than lower end white people.

Dr. lamont so called illustrates that he knows NOTHING of criminal law when he says that the so called "response" led to the charges against the 6 being dropped. Those charges were going down anyway you look at it because even a law student acting as defence counsel would have been able to get the charges reduced due to the absence of a clear motive.
Prosecutors don't stop prosecuting because a bunch of under employed black people are marching. They stop when they don't have a case.

The charges weren't "dropped," but they were lowered to aggravated assault way back before Bell's trial in June 07. As you said, the most obvious reason for lowering them is that the DA had a better case against Aggravated Assault than for Attempted Murder. And Bell was offered a deal reported to be 1 year in jail with 2 more suspended (on an Aggravated Assault guilty plea) at that time.

Yeah, the big rallies happened AFTER the lowering of the charges anyway. There were much smaller rallies that occurred before the trials went underway and some civil rights groups were already involved to a much lesser degree than they later became, but the charges were lowered at arraignment, which happened for Bell (the 1st to go to trial and only one still in jail by summer '07) in May or June '07. The big rallies were in September.
