  • hate aussies as most of the time they do act like scums of the earth but any one will be idiot to denie the great sportsmanship that Gilchrist showed. Anyone going against his walk is actually morally corrupt - they just need excuse to tell others that they are not.

Good job Gilly. hats off for you. Screw everybody else who dont believe in sportsman spirit.

  • @sobank

no one is hating the aussies, mate! Gily is awesome and i agree with "Screw everybody else who dont believe in sportsman spirit."

  • @sobank racist.

  • Almost all Aussies are cheaters but some like Adam Gilchrist , Brett Lee , Mcgrath etc. are great Players!

  • @Harry0Putt0Punjabi racist.

  • @Terlob I am not

If i was, I would never has said any Aussie Player a Good Sportsman!

Most of the Aussies Suck and Its a Fact.

  • Great Sportsmanship!!

  • Love u gilly :)

  • IAN CHAPPELL = best commentator ever!

  • This is why I love Gilly. In the modern day with proffesional sportsmen and women earning big dollars....ok maybe only the men, this is good old fashioned honasty. Personal integrity above all else, even the wishes of team mates. Once you lose your integrity good luck trying to earn the self respect it takes to win it back. Gilly = a true legend of the game.

  • awesome

  • Great sportsman. Great Australian.

Credit due where credit is due.

One day the Indian cricketer's will learn how to be sportsmen, instead of relying on false appealing in the hope of making the Umpire doubt his decision.

Also, they may stop ball tampering. I think it is called cheating.

  • did australia win this match?

  • @TheSmashinPumpkins of course... they won that world cup

  • @DJEffrey77 yay!

  • I'm English. I like Australians and was laughing my head off throughout India's tests in Australia and India's tour of England ( Put your money on Bangladesh for India's next tour.) Yeah i know this video isn't about India but the comments seem to always end up talking about them. And it's not really undermining the umpire because these days all the hawk-eye review decisions are on the big screen so umpires see their mistakes often now.

  • Wow, all these Angry people having a go at Australians, and all because we are better than the Indians, oh well.

BAHAHAHAHHAAHAHA, suck it up cry babies..

  • your description is more lenghty than my english lessons

  • the fact that he walked proves that he cannot truly be an Australian

  • he is stupid fuck.he should not have gone back

  • @khanpreston1 thats wat great sportmanship is

the umpire thinks hes not out, but how would he actually know cause he wasn't gilly

but gilly was the one, he actually think he got out

  • Shows how much hatred there is with these sickening comments. I'm English and have great admiration for Australians having spent a great year in Perth with some amazing people. Such a shame a video showing fair play has to be tainted with bitter comments. Shame on you

  • As I aware..austrailians are the shittest nation i ever seen...Ricky ponting is a asshole cheater...cheated well and got caughted by 3rd umpire...it doesnt matter whether it was happen by normal player..though he was playing as a captain...and shameless to face the interview too...

  • @rikaz2704 because India never cheat, appeal when its obviously not out, or break the laws of cricket do they?

  • @Alexlance1997 you would never ever see a Indian, Pakistani or Sri lankan walking. period. ever. why? they dont play the game in the spirit that the English founders played it in. Im glad Gilly (weather he was right or wrong in doing so) displayed that same spirit. It shows Australian players can have that same dignity.

  • @rikaz2704 I guess that's why India are the only nation to refuse to use the DRS, huh?

  • @rikaz2704 You realise that even your fabled Sachin has been caught ball tampering right?

  • even srilankans doen't know how to react.... cheers gilly

  • Are you guys sure he's actually Australian?

  • A True sportsman

  • an aussie showing good sportsmanship :O random

  • the few aussies to do that

    and i'm an aussie

  • i think everybd knows how clever aussie are

  • lol russell arnold looks anorexic

  • This indeed is a moral dilemma.Would he have done it if the team needed 1 run to win.....What if the Aussies were 9 down the last batsman was wrongly given out and then Gilchrist walks ....Australia loses.........then would people be still supporting him as so many are on this page......

  • That's called Character!

  • I am Sri Lankan and hats off to Gilchrist for his honesty...

  • amazing person he is..... brilliant Gilly... one more reason for we ppl to remember you....

  • Not first time Gilchrist alwayz walk for caught behind, not other Australina players tho

  • first and only time aussies ever played cricket honestly

  • Good job posting all that info in the description, it was an interesting read.

  • i have lot of respect for a great gilli ofter c this clip

  • @rhynokav I'm English and agree with you about what you are saying but harsh saying we are wankers i think you get some wankers in every country.. Australia back then were quality hope England one day can be as good as them, hat off for Gilly

  • Tony Greig makes a big deal about every god damn run!

  • honeSTY is the best policy

  • anyone remembering the in form Sangakkara's walk in the first IPL's semifinal? They were 11/2 in the middle of the 3rd over and he walked after a thin edge. Nobody even gave a serious appeal to the umpire except for the bowler and the umpire didn't say anything. Yuvraj and the rest of the team looked pretty pissed

  • I wonder how the umpire felt at that time

  • Great sportsman. I'm all in favour of the DRS, but it's a real shame that because of it, displays of true sportsmanlike behaviour like this have gotten more rare.

  • I love how none of the video actually shows Gilchrist walking. Did that get displayed on TV?

  • LOL INDIANS ALWAYS WALK HAHAHAHAHA. Tendulkar NEVER walks. Dickhead

  • @cheapxshots Tendulkar always walked!! even in the 98' coco-cola cup where he raped aussies I guess u don't have eyes or brain, for that u need head

    u stupid cunt!!!

  • I am Scots. I have just watched Trevor Chappells underarm ball and Gilly's walk. Australia is a great nation because it is more like Gilly than Chappell.

  • @boogieeck Ha you aussies are all the same.

Punch of absolute retards. This just proves Gilly isn't an Aussie coz Aussies are fuckwits

  • @MrJewBaby He's not Aussie? Where did he get all that talent from?

  • awesome.

  • lol. nearly all indians walk why is this such a big deal?

  • @MrMambalam ive never ever seen an indian walk, but it doesnt matter, theres no rule you have to and i dont think theres anything wrong with standing there, i wouldnt walk

  • @Brownzz07 you have obviously not watched much cricket or you've never seen it because the likes of buck nor and benson give indians out whether they're out or not and the fact that someone was honest is not something to be celebrated, it should be expected.

  • @MrMambalam I watch far more cricket than is healthy, very rare to see an Indian or any other player walk, although it must be said Tendulkar just doesnt walk, ever, even after being given, but what I'm saying is that that's fine because with the amount of bad decisions you get you are entitled to get lucky sometimes, more often than not it doesn't go your way so ive got no problem with a batsman standing his ground

  • @MrMambalam Hahhahahahaha good joke pal.

  • @MrMambalam What a load of shit, I've seen Tendulkar stand there even after being given out.

  • Top bloke.

  • he took sportsmanship a bit too far this time, i dont think thats a clear cut wicket so he shouldnt have walked

  • 00:22 SUPERMAN!!!!!!!!!11

  • what a stupendous move

  • adam gilchrist the best batsmen of his time

  • Gilchrist has integrity that no other aussie has.

  • @xtrmsprts You personally know every Australian? Fool.

  • @britishguitar I'm not sufficiently masochistic to want to go about making acquaintances with every redneck on that ozone-rich island

  • @xtrmsprts I can assure you I'm not a redneck, despite being born and raised in Australia. Your attitude isn't in the spirit of this great game, so I don't know why you feel you have the right to pontificate about the integrity of my fellow countrymen.

  • @britishguitar , m frm India , hv been living n playing cricket in melb. for last 5 yrs , n i love Aus. , guys pls. don't buy d "Aus. is racist or rude" B.S , Aus. n Aussies r truly awsm :)

  • @yorker662 Cheers man :)

  • @britishguitar I was born in England. When I see aussies, I see convicts who made trouble in my country and then were rightly deported to that desert island. You guys aren't british, sir. You are the dregs of old british society. as robin williams put it ,"english rednecks". Know your place in the commonwealth. And we'll see you next time at the Ashes.

  • @xtrmsprts You'll find the majority of the country isn't descended from convicts, including myself, considering my mother is English. But hey, you keep living on your little wet island, with your scummy welfare class who burn your capital city, and your Tory government.

  • @britishguitar This little Island had the entire world under its control, my boy. You clowns downunder still recognize Her Majesty's monarchy. The old saying where I'm from was that if you committed a crime and wanted to escape the law, you fled to australia. your mother probably killed her pimp and fled lol I'd rather enjoy the English evening shower than live in a desert toxic with ozone. Good luck with chemo, mate.

  • @xtrmsprts What a sad guy.

  • @britishguitar extremely sad...

  • @xtrmsprts No, you never had the entire world under your control. Somebody tell him hes dreaming.

  • @morningstomper123 The sun never set on the British Empire. Learn your history, punk. @britishguitar You are sad, you aussie alcoholic. You crazy rednecks are unhygienic and ape-like. Thank god we shipped you convicts off the British Isles long back.

  • @xtrmsprts I'm so glad you did too. Now we live in the greatest country in the world, while your stuck in that shitswamp you call the UK

  • @peachway1 @britishguitar "All Australians are uneducated, and an unruly mob" --- Douglas Jardine.

  • Comment removed

  • @xtrmsprts and that's why every one hates the english, sure in midevil times you controlled things, were YOU born then? no, YOU are born now, what power does england have now ... very little, so ... please go kill yourself

  • @rhynokav It's not about us. Mr. Jardine accurately described these spawn of convicts who collectively call themselves australians. These people have a mob-like quality that does not befit a gentleman. As to your stupid criticism about my apparent temporally-incongruous pride in being English, well the British tradition is something that transcends generations. Our Empire ruled the world because of our people's innate cold intelligence, British reserve and an unbending will to dominate.

  • @xtrmsprts UM .... awkward how England no longer dominates shit.

Ahhh well from the rest of the worlds perspective Aussies outside Australia are really cool people. Most Poms are wankers! and you clearly fall into that category of people.

you in general are just a cunt

  • @xtrmsprts Mate you and your little british empire can suck my fat cock !

  • @ejohnson242 Instead of shipping you convicts to Australia we should have sent you to the bottom of the North Sea... where you belong. There is not a single gentleman who is also an australian. As a country of ruffians, you should continue to bow before Her Majesty's will.

  • @xtrmsprts I noticed you couldn`t be arsed spelling our thieving country with a capital A but the North Sea gets a capital N! Now that is insulting. I`ll get together with my thieving family and find a way to steal all capital letters from the home country. Out of interest, if her majesty breaks wind, is it a "fart" or a "Fart"? just wondering.

  • Comment removed

  • @xtrmsprts " We " ? what did you have to do with anything that happened 250 years ago ? I will tell ya what SWEET FUCK ALL.

As to Her Majesty she can also suck my fat cock, old hag. pitty dianas dead or she could do it for her.

  • @ejohnson242 The same animating spirit that ordained the greatness of William the Conqueror, Lord Nelson, Sir Winston Churchill and others lives in the heart of every Englishman of the genteel class. My great-aunt was the bride of the second-born child of no smaller personage than the Duke of Norfolk himself. Hence, I have obvious disdain for the spawn of proletariat criminals who originally hail from the gutters of liverpool and suchlike, aka. australians.

  • @xtrmsprts Oh okay i get it so what your saying is you had nothing to do with anything that happened 250 years ago hmm thought so... is that the best you can come up with. your "sprirt". Thats like saying my great uncles cousins sisters brothers dad is the king of england.

  • @ejohnson242 You small folk won't ever understand how the class structure works here. That is why you are not part of it.

  • @xtrmsprts lol, you sound like a twat, stop it

  • @ZAFARCAKE You sound like an aussie guttersnipe

  • @xtrmsprts lol im english

  • @ZAFARCAKE Then you ought to be on my side, old boy. I'd prefer the most unrefined Englishman of the working class to the richest australian. All who unite as Englishmen under the banner St. George's Cross and the reign of Her Majesty are my brothers. Don't lose the British stiff upper lip and embrace the vulgar levity of the modern age, friend. Honour your roots.

  • @xtrmsprts friend, nationalism really doesn't matter that much.

  • @ZAFARCAKE That is not it. It is patriotism - love for your country, culture and history.

  • @xtrmsprts OK patriotism doesn't matter. What matters is Austailia thumping India whilst England got thumped by Pakistan.

  • @ZAFARCAKE Then we differ completely. I find no pleasure in australia's triumphs. I am enlivened by England's success, of course. What would give me the most sporting joy is England keep the Ashes away from the dirty hands of these aussie swine again this year. What our nation needs is another Harold Larwood to keep these convicts down, metaphorically and literally.

  • @xtrmsprts Its because of pigs like u that people don't like england. Why are u commenting on a video about Adam Gilchrist anyway seems strange seeing as ur such a "patriotic" POHM ?????????

  • @Jacko125rider Know your place, aussie vagabond.

  • @xtrmsprts - G'Day mate, hate to tell ya this, but they were ENGLISH convicts that came here! Enjoy your %^&# cold wet weather and Euro debt crisis!

  • @mmmail1969 If you haven't been reading the WSJ, then let me inform you that England's debt issues are not even remotely alarming. Yes, they were english convicts. But stress should be applied on the convict part. It was a great housecleaning. Keep Britain tidy. Send the criminals to some desert island down under.

  • @xtrmsprts - Britian my friend is in danger of saying goodbye to its AAA rating see link below - thanks for "desert island" too! ;)

  • @xtrmsprts I`m giving you a thumbs up for persistence. I suspect you`re really from Belgium and just love a wind up. Mind you, what else is there to do in the always growing pedophile wing of Wandsworth Prison. I assume incest isn`t a crime in barely united kingdom. If it was most of the royal family would`ve been first on the boats.

  • @xtrmsprts you're a joke.

  • @xtrmsprts hahahahahahaha No one bows to the queen the English empire is no more and with good reason, you can barly keep Argentina from taking your realestate let along govern an empire.

  • @xtrmsprts I just finished work at a pretty shitty pub in Sydney where 97% of the patrons were proudly British. Would you like some quotes from the innate cold intelligence capital of the world? "I`ll av a Vodka and Orange, a beer, and...a Screwdriver." Or "How do I know if the toilet door is locked?" Enjoying the series against Pakistan?

  • @carntspell Good to see you people are still at the service of Englishmen.

  • @xtrmsprts and alleged Englishwomen, although their gender was debatable. Most times an Englishman with unconvincing makeup.

  • @carntspell Is that how you think of your customers? No wonder people say aussies are an uncivilized & discourteous lot.

  • i hate this commentator

  • That is what called as a true gentleman in the game of gentlemen. Hats off :)

  • he walked because it was too obvious. had it been an edge, he would've stayed.

  • @rodeo179 Pretty sure he would have walked either way. Honest cricketer.

  • wow, I Gilchrist just earned a lot of respect points from me, and yes believe it or not, a lot of Indians second fravourite team after India is Australia. But I guess everyone is suppose to "hate" on the big payer, like the U.S is a major power, no one likes them, if tomorrow India cricket team (they are bad right now) becomes great, everyone will "hate" on them instead of Australia.

But this was a great Australian team, no freakin doubt.

  • in whole australian team gilchrist is the only one who can do such thing

  • simple, if you are sure you're out... walk

the umpire can never be sure....

  • lol Look at the umpire .. Got fucked up !

  • yeh but everyone was correct about australia being dishonest and cheaters........

  • he didnt hit it?

  • ..For a batsman to walk without the umpires decision shows the mark of an honest man!...How many would of walked, especially playing in a match of such importance?...I'm English, but I don't mind saying Australia at that time were bloody brilliant!......

  • @robin9997 yeah you right ... Australia were bloody brilliant that time but Gilchrist was always brilliant ...hats off Gilly..

  • Apart from one occasion(i assume) the great sir Brian Lara used to walk.Who could forget that famous walking of him in the hero cup final against India back in 1993.Its nice(surprising as well) to see an aussie walking though, normally the ball is edged to third slip n they still look at the umpire for confirmation.

  • great cricketer gilchrist was, good on ya mate!

  • This is insane

  • dud e the description gives me headaches....

  • That is pure class. He earned Sri Lanka's respect for sure.

  • Idiot!!!, you NEVER ever walk, the umpire decisions go for and against you,if you were smart you would of realized this...?

  • The people that don't agree with this HAVE got a point. Over your lifetime you're going to get about an equal amount of bad decisions in your favour and against your favour. The ones against your favour you can't change (aside from DRS), so their point is that why should you throw away the ones that go IN your favour. But at the same time, this was a great show of sportsmanship, I'm just not really sure where I stand on this subject...

  • the law about the game is you shouldnt walk, because each not given out is balanced with an out given not out. alot of people gave adam alot of flak for walking, and arguably fair enough, however gilly walked because he thought it was the right thing to do for himself.

  • great..........coming from an aussie

  • Not walking is not cheating... sure just like diving to earn a penalty in Soccer is not cheating... I'm looking at you Italy..

  • If you are a great batsman, you wouldn't feel good to continue batting knowing you were out. It just won't feel right.

  • i dont get it..

  • never ever ever walk...the umpire has eyes and gets paid to use them, so let him...great sportsmanship can come in other ways, not giving away your wicket

  • @ilikethisname81 its better to see right and correct outcome isnt it? gilchrist will forever be a legend to all sports with the sportmanship he showed then. Why are most sports adopting video technology, etc? because its well known human error occurs and technology can right situations when it occurs.

  • @skelto10101 to quote you on video technology "its well known human error occurs and technology can right situations......I agree with you...its NOT up to Adam Gilchrist to walk, its up to either the Umpire in the middle to give him out, or the third UMPIRE to possible use technology to tell him he's out....ITS NOT UP TO GILCHRIST TO WALK....thanks

  • @ilikethisname81 why is it not up to adam gilchrist to make that decision? he is well within his right to if he feels he can assist the umpire to make the right decision. its like a judge saying a murderer is innocent, the murderer can still fess up if he feels he deserves the punishment. the punishment in this case being that gilchrist loses his wicket.

  • Great camera work...

  • well done gilchrist

  • It's good game spirit.

  • bat - pad- caught

  • Where is the walking? I don't see anything here :D

  • @moss7573 Care to point out where in the Law of Cricket it says that not walking is cheating? It's ok, I can wait ....

  • TOny Grieg. Absolutely no idea what was happening, even when watching the replay.

  • Good sportsmanship but I thought he was going to lose us the cup!!! I know Punter and a few of the boys (if not all) would not have walked.

  • And Sub Continent faggots say australians cheat

  • "Walking is effectively robbing the umpire of respect and authority" ... what a massive cop-out! Walking has nothing to do with the umpire's authority, its to do with the integrity of the batsmen. The Sri-Lankan's had earned a wicket, and Gilly simply did what his conscience had told him to. Good on him (plus the umpire, Rudi Koertzen, was glad that Gilly walked)

  • Wow if he had stayed, that would have been given not out...

  • The best part of this. Gilly walks, four years later in the final of the next world cup Sangakarra shows the same great sportsmanship in reply by not claiming a catch on Gilly even when they were get smashed all over the park.

  • @lewelltam okay, ur too one eyed to debate with and i cant be bothered wasting my time with u. Not walking will never end weither u or i like or not, it is a part of cricket and it will stay with cricket to the end of time. Also comparing those batsmen who dont walk to people who have commited crime?? Really??? U must have vendetta aganist them. Surely u have lied in your life.

  • @haymid1995 It won't end. I know that it's a part of cricket now. I just don't think that it should be 'cause it's cheating and cricket at least used to try to hold itself above that level of competition. I didn't compare those who don't walk to criminals, I said that the logic that they use to justify their action is the logic that criminals use to justify their crime - e.g. recent looters in London Riots often claim in interview that in looting shops they were simply reclaiming their taxes.

  • @lew

  • Maybe he was tired.

  • @Lewelltam well my point is that calling a batsmen back is (in my eyes) the same as a batsmen walking. But you never see it happen. So the batsmen have every right to not to walk cause it is quite likely that will be giving out with a bad umpiring decision sometime in thier career.

  • @haymid1995 This is just what batsman have been told to tell themselves to justify their cheating. Because a bad decision has been made against a batsman in the past and may again be made against that batsman in the future, he has the right to be able to cheat his current opposition where he feels it's appropriate? That's the logic of criminals.

  • @lewelltam have u seen a batsman givin out wrongly by an umpire who has made a howler of decision then told by the feilding team (who oblivilsy know he is not out ) that they will reverse the decision so he can stay?

  • @haymid1995 An umpire should only give a batsmen out if the fielding team claim that it's a wicket - if the opposing team call for a wicket when they know there was no decision to be made then, yes, that's cheating too. I'm not entirely sure of the point that you're making.

  • Of course it was out, look how the ball dramatically changes in the bounce, if he didn't hit it, it wouldn't of been so low.

  • Excellent work by adam, if you hit it and your cought, you should walk

  • i wish they'd shown him walking. all we saw was the appeal and the celebration.

  • great man xx
