  • Yeah! Linux is VERY good for old computers

  • What happens if you turn on your pc the next time without the CD?

Can I run Linux as my only OS on a completely new pc without losing the cd drive coz I need it

is there any other way to boot Linux everytime without booting it from a CD?

    please someone reply ,thank you.

  • fuck Toshiba!

  • Good one. If you have a little bit of linux knowledge you can get a lot of freelancing work at ezdia. Check it at ezdia.

  • linux rocks but its under-rated.

  • You just told that people must download a file. Put it on a disk and start the PC with the disk in the diskdrive.

you forgot to say or was wrong about:

-Enable 'boot from disk' in your bios. Because this is not always the case.

-Not a "Typical OS" and then refer to Firefox. :S . Firefox is almost the nr1 used browser in Windows at this time.

  • 2gig = serious, rofl

  • Try whit Kubuntu..

  • if you boot it from the disc will it always run on linux?......or will it revert if you dont save it?

  • hei y have one dvd linux end y dont know haw y must do :(

  • i don't recommend you using Linux if you arnt good with computers, Linux is different from windows or mac.

  • you can use imgburn..its the same thing but free

  • i really doubt it.

ITS COOL. I HAVE A DS AND ILL GET DS LINUX SOMETIME.

but as far as running COMPUTER GAMES on it.....

    NO

    cool though

  • It is the real linux. It uses the uClinux kernel, which is very small. It comes with only command line which is cool.

  • you sound kinda down syndrome

    it is

  • Were you able to get the graphics card and sound card working correctly? I you can send me a link to get the right drivers I'd appreciate it. I'm new to linux, but my computer is running a hell of a lot faster on dsl. What the hell was emachines thinking running xp on only 128 mb of ram...

  • Is that an emachines t1840? I think I have the same computer. The lack of ram sucks, so I might install dsl on it.

  • Hi, Thanks for video. Can you help me to uninstall windows (prefer without CD Rom uninstall)? As well as telling me how to move my windows files onto linux and get windows files working on linux? I have herd of wine but I need a little help because I am new to linux.

    Thanks so much!

  • Avelx, you can uninstall windows with the damn small linux disk. Boot from the DSL cd, then open the terminal. Type in:

    sudo -s

    and press enter

    then type:

    cfdisk /dev/hda

    This will open the partitioner

Delete all the partitions you have and write the changes to the disk. This will completely format your harddrive. You can then create a swap partition and an ext3 partition so you can install linux to your hard drive. I anyone wants to know how to install DSL to their hard drive, just message me
