  • Nobody and I do mean NOBODY else could or ever will be as great and as entertaining as Dean and Jerry. I love this song!

  • @TheChoule11 What is sad to me is that back then it was easier to become a famous entertainer then it is today. They new talent then. These days no one really knows what talent is. In those days they gave people a chance. These days you have to give blood for that.

  • Sorry in case it has been mentioned before but what's the name of the band? Great sound.

  • I'm gonna geek out a bit and say that 3:25-3:30 on this video is similar to what Dean whistles in Clip 12 0:38-0:44 /watch?v=3UVS0JmYzLg

  • I love these men! 2:03 - "When do we get the money..."

  • Comment removed

  • many others people think like that, the tv was fun in the years 50 to 75, after it became to be bad

I like all this old shows, they make me feel happy for the end of the day

  • Oh how I love all the trouble with the microphone...just thinking about it, they are singing, dancing and being funnz all at the same time.... bliss.

  • wow... i really admire them...how do they learn all those lyrics and lines?!?!

i mean did they have enough time to practise and rehearse??

  • @sujufanatic Jerry probably couldn't even get Dean TO rehearse! Dean hated to rehearse.

  • i love that noise he makes at 1:36 that "nnnn" XDD i don't know why, but it makes me laugh everytime i watch this!

  • Their voices go together perfectly!!! Though Jerry's isn't the typical sought after singing voice, I looove it!! xD

  • I think this is very funny and exciting to watch.

  • I think it's a true reflection of the crap we watch today that so many youngsters are watching talent of yesterday - good on ya! You know what good talent was and dont just accept what is dished up on telly - i dont think it's a case of not accepting what we have today - sure there is talent but it' s normally smutty or politically correct - not natural at all. Half of Jerry's comedy was being a total loony which appeals to the heart of man's psyche.

  • They sure could do it all! To think they broke up nearly 54 years ago and their material is just as great and funny today.

  • these two are AMAZING. i watch these two all of the time...and im fifteen....i just wish my generation could appreciate this kind of stuff more!!! i wish i could have been born when they were a team back then!! i love them!

  • Omg! I love this song! They sung this song on their movie, "Living It Up". If you haven;t watched that movie yet, please do watch it, it's one of their best movies ever! :).

  • @ShawtyLikeMe2007 I just watched it for th 1st time-I have been on a Jerry L kick remembering when I was like 7 yrs old being in love with him!! 2 bad he is b4 my time:(

  • Yeah, most of us that appreciate real talent are way before our time. I sure wish I could've watched them at they're prime.

  • @ShawtyLikeMe2007 there will NEVER be 2 ppl like this ever again -its impossible!!

  • These two sure knew how to have fun even when performing

  • These guys, when they were together filled the house where ever they went. There movie "Living It Up" (1954) to this day is still very funny. Probably there best.

  • dont they sound nice when they sing together and jerry uses his own voice

  • To FrankiesMom: I hold those memories very close, and honestly, guys like them, and a few other people helped me some rough times, making me smile when there wasn't much to smile about. I can remember seeing Dean at the MGM and laughed myself silly, even though I had gone to the show feeling pretty low; I came out feeling like the world wasn't so bad afterall. :-) Dean had slowed down from those old days, but he was still a very funny guy with a wonderful sense of humor and a marvelous voice.

  • Orson Welles said that seeing Martin and Lewis in person was to witness total anarchy. To see them on TV was to recall what they had been, and to see them in the movies was to find them completely unrecognizable. I think that's a little harsh, but I find in these wonderful Colgate shows a wild spontaniety that I'll, sadly, never see in their nightclub act, and I'm grateful. They're fantastic!

  • realmente adorables!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I can hear these guys doing this song on the radio. All hail Martin and Lewis!

  • OH!! there it is!! Jerry's real singing voice!! <3

  • I really love it when he sings with his own voice !! I don't understand why he wasn't more famous for his singing ..

  • What brilliant entertainers! Can watch Jerry and Dean all day long....xx

  • I wonder what would happen if magically Dean and Jerry would suddenly appear on Great American Idol? How would our favorite judges vote? Probably that they had no talent!(Dean and Jer that is)LOL There hasn't been a single talent like either of them. THey come and go like a revolving door, flashes in the pan. One out of the thousands that might just make it.

  • With the kind of "talent" there is today, maybe it's a good thing only one in a thousand makes it. Most of my friends and family laugh at me because I have hardly any vhs/dvd's that are more recent than the 1960's & because I say things like "for pete's sake" and "oh, geez" instead of, well . . . you know. Everyone says I was born in the wrong era. Frankly, I have to agree.

  • im 19 years old and i first started watching dean martin and jerry lewis when i was 8 years old... i wish i was alive wen they first came out as well... these two are the greatest

  • I used to lament that I was too young to see their nightclub act. They came to Chicago at the old Chez Paree but Iwas only 8 years old and only 12 when they split. I will always be grateful to my dad though, because he did get tickets to see Dean and Jerry at the Chicago Stadium just before they did split and did Every Street's a Boulevard. I was absolutely mesmerized and will never ever forget that night. I wish there were more tapes, films, of their act like this one.

  • I wish I could have seen them. The Colgate DVDs are treasures! My dad took my mother to see M&L when they were newly engaged, and my mother laughed so hard, my dignified father broke the engagement!

  • I saw their live act in New Orleans shortly before they split up. About 1955.

  • Wow. What i would give to have seem them once!! ;)

  • "We seldon amswer a request because we never remember what we do."

  • I'm 16 , and i love these guys too! I only wish i was alive then so i could go see their shows......every night!

  • I don't understand how anybody could not like Dean and Jerry. They are truly fantastic. I wish there were shows like the Colgate Comedy Hour on today. For those of us who love and adore Jerry and Dean, they will remain in our hearts regardless of our age. I'm only 21 and I am completely addicted to Jerry and Dean. I could watch them all day everyday and still never get bored. God bless Jerry and Dean!!!

  • I'm only 16 (A) but I watch them every day. It never bores me, they are awesome.

I too wish that the big suites of the tv would send programmes like this, not that crap like most of it now

  • i am 14 and compleatly agree with you!

i watch jerry and dean every day. they are my idols! its a shame over 90% of young people our age dont even know who jerry lewis is. entertainment nowadays is a disgrace.

there will be no one like dean and jerry!!

  • i argee with you im 17 i love this i think it more like 85% people dont really know about these two geat singers how unfortuate fr them

  • thank you. that is an amazing bit of film and history.

  • They could sing, dance,be funny. The greatest comedy team of all time.Yes itis a shame we don't have entertainers like this anymore. I miss Dean,Frank,Jerry,Bob,Bing and the rest of those great stars.

  • Why are we burdened with absolutely uncool people in the world now? Back in this era there was Dean, Frank, Bob Hope, Bing Crosby, Bogart, at least a dozen or more people who oozed coolness of some form. Now who's the coolest person we have? Brad Pitt is all over everything but i hardly think he's cool.

  • Flawless performance. There will never been a pair like them again.

  • This was great!

  • i love the clips of dean and jerry dancing...is there any more out there

    this was just great...thanks

  • God i miss these shows.. i have been listening Dean Martin, Nat Kİng cole and Billie Holiday for a week and havent get bored and still finding it more and more fun each day.. Bring them backkkkkkkkkkkk :(

  • Now that's Jerry using his real voice.Jerry and Dean are great.

  • Discipline, polish, class, fun, they had it all. And so much of that is missing from entertainment today.

  • Perfectly said !!!!

  • This is brilliant. Thank you so much for this posting.

  • & they don't make guys like these two nowadays :/

  • hahaa : ) they never fail to make me happy

yeah i'm also 16 and i wish more than anything that i was around to see all things Rat Pack and Jerry Lewis etc. for the first time, instead of watching them today on a video website. I can't stand the crap that's out today sometimes, this is so much better.

  • Society has changed; cynicism and specialization, the splintering of the culture make such sweet entertainment rarer and less popular. Anyway, don't you see from the writings on youtube, that you would always say teh past was better than any talent today, no matter what they were performing?

  • As much as I would love for entertainment to still be like this today, unfortunately, I know it will never happen, and you are correct, luckyshow, this is the precise reason why we can't have anything like this back!

  • Show business like this still exists, but it isn't marketable to the masses, so only a select few get to see or hear it. Truly, Martin/Lewis, Sinatra, Ella, Sammy Davis, Mel Torme, Pearl Bailey, and others in this style had class and intelligence, wit and charm. They appealed to people who didn't curse, had morals, and aspired to be more. The masses today seem to be classless, dumb, and happy to be so.

  • I just saw Marty Allen and his wife do a great old time show at a small casino called the Gold Coast in Vegas. Great stuff.

  • I was reading what everyone's said and it's just funny to see all the young people watching this. I'm 16 and I love this stuff. I do watch modern comedy shows too, but Martin and Lewis just have this sweet, clean vibe that people today don't have. It's almost refreshing. The work they put in to do this live is amazing as well - there's not many people that would bother to try today.

  • I think one of the bigger differences between comedians these days (i'm talking the type you find as regulars on current day roasts) and those of this calibre is that the current day ones just don't seem to care, or at least act like they don't. It seems as though they traded in 'class' for 'cool'... many gave up 'intelligence' as well i imagine.

That's not to say there's nothing good out there at all. John Stewart and Co. is a great place to start for example.

  • I have 42 and from my young years always watches this style of material in my Home Uruguay now I have the fortune in live in EEUU and I become in serious collector,I love the years between 20s and 50s,I believe in that time was the best era from the Show Businesses after that its came the decay

  • I agree too...I don't think it's a belief, it's a fact that talent was greater then then it is now. I'm 22 and would rather be watching I Love Lucy or The Dean Martin Show then just about anything that's on TV today. I'd also rather listen to Frank and Ella Fitzgerald then idiots with no class like Justin Timberlake and that Kanye person. I think the age of the people commenting on this video and what's been said is funny. It's nice to know i'm not alone!

  • Thank you! I'm glad to know I'm not alone as well. I am EXACTLY the same way when it comes to the stuff of today. Everything is just pointless hyped up CRAP. I'm glad that through youtube, the smarter of the younger generation has the ability to meet others who share their loves. I could never find others who agreed with me. Thanks for being nonconforming!

  • You guys are not the only ones who feel that way. I'm 21 and with the expection of the few years where I was obsessed with the Backstreet Boys (dumb youth) I have rather have Dean Martin and Elvis and Ella and Frank over just about anybody. No one these days can bring a smile to my face like Jerry Lewis.

  • @igvmyslf1000pts The reason there is so much "CRAP" today is because the public is unable to discern what is good or classy. The same thing goes for calling some women "beautiful". My God, some of the actresses they call beautiful would be called politely "plain" back then.

  • the reasion why you think that is because there are to many no talents on tv that think they have talent and there over shadowing the real people with talent

  • I agree completely. I'm 21 and I can't stand most of the stuff from my generation, but granted, there are a few, and I mean very few things that I do like from it. I just say to each his own, and if you don't like it, then don't watch it...

  • I hated when my elders thought that their comedy, music, art and values of there generation were better than mine. (Everything cost a f**king nickel, kids didn't talk back...blah, blah...)Believe me, yesterday was not as great as people say and today isn't nearly half as bad. Martin and Lewis were great, but it might be a mistake to ignore your own era. There is talent out there. Don't believe lie that things were better in their day. People's craving for nostalgia is their fear of facing today.

  • Well, I happen to believe that music, movies, television, and comedy WERE better back then. That's just my opinion. It is VERY rare for me to find something these days that sparks my interest or actually has the ability to make me laugh. I mean, I'm young. I HAVE faced entertainment of today. It's just not for me.

  • @igvmyslf1000pts I completely agree. I'm 20 years old and I've tried the Saturday Night Live, the stand up comedians, etc. and I never even smile. Everything that comes out of their mouths is smut, and performers today usually just get by with their sex appeal and help from the computer. Back in the day, people would take time to get good at their craft and perform FOR the public, and didn't act like the public owed them something, like the famous today.

  • Live music (no playback), three cameras, a studio audience and a film camera in front of a TV receiving the broadcast to tape the show. Such was the technology of the day. And artists had to do this in one take...there was no room for error. Think this could be done today?!

  • I ABSOLUTELY agree. NOTHING can compare to the classic days of live television. You just don't see the kind of energy put into comedy these days. it's so sad. I mean, I'm only 19, but I HATE all new entertainment. It sickens me to see where it it going. Everything is just so unoriginal. Ugh.

  • soo cool

  • OMG!!THey had to practice for days and hours on end to get this all right.

  • this song is from my fave martin and lewis movie "Living it up" great stuff!

  • That is just pure class!

  • Yeah, they are so sweet.

  • awe! He answered my request...How Sweet!

  • nice i love it
