  • Awesome review

  • Nice Sith Lightsaber You Have There ;)

  • Get a 70-200 2.8 with a 2x extender and you have a 140-400 5.6 :)

  • @CubaVids The 2x really takes away the quality of the lens and sucks up alot of light

  • @johnraffaghello The quality difference isn't noticeable unless you compare close 100% crop areas carefully. There's no light difference between a 70-200 f2.8 with 2X extender compared to a true EF 100-400mm lens (which is f5.6 @ 400mm too). Of all the comparison shots I've seen, the $500 extender is well worth the cash over buying an entire new 400mm lens. In fact, if you use the-digital-picture [dot com] 's comparison tool, the 200mm w/2x @ 400 looks better in 100% crops than the 400mm! Wow

  • Heres my conclusion: The 70-200 IS f2.8 II is a great portrait lens as well as a very versitile lens in my bag. It great for travel and lowlight especially on the 1dsmk4. Hands down the #2 lens in my bag beside the 16-35mm f2.8 II.

The 100-400 f 4.5.6 is my main lens for shooting sports and wildlife especially handheld. Its not as sharp as the 70-200, but the zoom makes it better for distant subjects.

Ultimately they both have their strengths, overall the 70-200 is a better lens quality wise.

  • Hmmmm. You call is a 'vs' but you don't draw a conclusion, and don't really talk features, and don't do any kind of compare/contrast. You don't even list the model numbers, which is necessary given that there are 5 Canon 70-200 lenses (not counting discontinued versions!). Your tags aren't even correct.

It's pretty much "Hey, here's two Canon lenses I own. See, aren't they nice?" Not much value in this, at all.

  • @Amberscion add it in yourself then, by the way i own 6 L lenses.

  • 0:40 It's Wall-E!!

  • I recently bought a t3i and upgraded with 100-400, love it.

  • Hey John, I primary use a Canon HV40 video camera. I plan on buying a Canon EOS T3i, (Shooting video) is it worth paying extra money for a Canon 7d Mark ii, or just upgrade the T3i lens. Thanks for your help.

    -Eric-

  • @liquidvisionstudios If it's just for shooting video I'd go for the T3i.

  • White balance not ok bud :)

  • @MazlumOguz I shot it on an iphone, i know its not the best. I usally dont care much about the quality unless im making anything else.

  • Can we see some of your surfing shots? I live in Cornwall UK (surfing capital) and would be great to see some shots with this lens :)
