  • Japanese loved listening to their machines making noise.. first time i hear the original! thanks for the upload

  • i cannot hear any similarities in this and the newer version

  • BLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAADE!

  • Love it at the start:

    "CONFUSION"

    WHEEEEEEYYYYYYY

    hahaha

  • amazing

  • Dual bass FTW!!!!1

  • jesus,can you cnuts and enjoy ...?

  • Arthur Baker wasnt in Joy Division

  • were u joy division? really???????

  • Just demented!! Thank you for that rare wonderful pearl !!

  • show musica e toma cachaça

  • the nice project song new order

  • I like how Bernard doubles on bass for the end of the song; only noticed that recently.

  • @radicalsquare Looks like Hooky's playing a normal guitar, actually.

  • @athrough0

I just rechecked. Hooky starts on guitar then switches over to bass for the end of the song to double-up with Bernard. Didn't notice that before!

  • @postrealitysyndrome

Even my cloth ears hear bass, so it's 6 to 4 string no ?

  • @WLancs

PH was playing a regular 6 string guitar for the first part. There's a lot going on in the mix and much electronica but he seemed to be playing the jangly muffled strumming through the verses with some emphatic strums during the "confusion" part. He stops playing around 3:30 and by 3:50 he's got the 4-string bass. You can see the 4-string bass at ~5:10. PH does play a 6-string bass on some songs. If memory serves he used it a lot during the Ukranian Ball Room NYC show from 1981.

  • @postrealitysyndrome agreed Hooky has a Shergold 6 string, which was used on a lot of his best work. He loves that guitar.

  • wow!! thats soo different from the pump panel remix from the Blade Soundtrack, I m amazed....huge difference.

  • @inthemerde Indeed.

  • THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • ahhh an emulator, I'm a nut for vintage gear.

  • who isn't, i'd give my left testicle for an e-II

  • I loooooooooooooooooooooooooooove this song. Check out the instrumental version and the 808 State remix.

  • so in 1994 they were like, hey lets make some acid techno.

  • Comment removed

  • This is so much better than the studio version it's not even funny.

  • @belzondium That's not easy for NO. Fans know what to expect at a NO concert -- in-tune vocals is not it. I think that Hooky backing up Bernard made this happen.

  • Yeah the Pump Penal reconstruction Remix sounds totally diffrent. One could say that the acid-baseline which runs the Remix thru has a slight similarity to the slap-baseline at 3:56

  • lol i can kinda hear the crystal method tune in there but not completely because of the drums.

  • there is no crystal method tune, its a remix from pump panel.

  • i've always wondered why barney and hooky swap instruments on this?

  • well barney doesnt play a guitar like that and hooky doesnt play slap bass like barney does in this so thats prob why they swap instruments

  • Arthur Baker mixes of this song have never been topped!

  • Hooky your a legend ........Peace

  • Bernard on bass!!!! Excellent!

  • wtf

  • confused?

  • OMG confusion!

  • i just have one quetion, are there like to New Order bands? playing to different songs called Confusion?. Becausse if you watch BLADE 1998 the Night Club scene and listen to the Techno Track that one is also called confusion and The Band is also called New Order?, is it the same band or to different bands.

  • its the same band....public domain remixed it into a hard house/techno style and that's the one you hear on blade!! the remixed version is called operation blade but this is the original!!

  • There is one other band called *The* New Order, but they are not very known and I don't think they have a song called "Confusion". This is the one and only NEW ORDER. The version from BLADE was highly remixed to the point of changing the song completely. Although I'm a huge New Order fan, I can't hear the original melody in the BLADE version at all. I guess I'm just not musically trained enough to hear it, but officially this IS the same song.

  • BLADE??? Dear me. New Order are an 70's/80's band and the track you refer to is probably a Tekno remix (not unusual for New Order). Yes, it is the same band!

  • Kids, eh? Worship dead popstars; become Joy Division fans after watching the Control film and then take it upon themselves to slag off New Order's mostly stirling work of the following 25 years!! Confusion is difficult to play live; watch This Time of Night from this concert and try saying that New Order are bad!!

  • Listen kid, you're too young to have an opinion on this great band. Learn about the band before you spit nonsense. Just because you just discovered Joy Division doesn't make you cool.

  • hahaha you are right !

here in Brazil its the same.

Kids watch the movie and focus just in Joy Division work / Ian Curtis life, etc...

They dont know that in the 80's ALL the nightclubs play New Order...Bizzare Love triangle, Blue Monday.. every night... so powerfull tunes...

nowadays lots of djs trying to get the PERFECT remix...

  • Not a fan of the funky slap bass here, doesnt suit New Order at all.

  • stop going on about the trance and rave versions, just go out and buy the original 12inch........

  • i thought, that this is instrumental :-)

  • get the fucking "blade" shit remix out of your heads people. the original breakbeat is the ONLY.

  • And it was produced by Arthur Baker, the man behind 'Planet Rock',a truly originator.

  • The 80's will kick the livin' shit out of any other decade....

    :O)

  • wasnt what i was expectin but pretty cool tho

  • funny to hear the original, years ago i thought "New Order" was a trance artist after seing Blade, boy i was wrong

  • rave remix is better

  • cant find his key?

  • wat the hell? i thought confusion was the trance song they made?

  • theres a really shitty trance remix of it in one of the blade movies if thats what you mean?

  • yup, sadwaters is correct.

they made a remix for blade and it only have the lyrics exactly as the original confusion (in a robotic voice)...but the song is totally diff.

  • The only "exact" lyrics are the 2 lines. That's it - one song is a corny 80s song, and the other an electronic song. Comparing them is apples to oranges.

The lot of you guys are idiots.

  • Some people should never, ever sing. I love them on record, they suck live. Sorry if you are offended by that, but my God - the guy could not carry a note in a bucket!

  • ha ha... um, yes, you're right.

  • True, the singer is not great, but I still enjoy them live most of the time. The fact that they endured for so long proves that people do enjoy them. Those who don't like don't matter to them.

  • very good delije sever red star belgrade f.c. serbia

  • bernie on bass.....why not??

  • Awesome song, never heard it live before, sounds great! New Order are certainly one of the truly good bands.

  • The beauty of NO concerts ... you never knew what they were going to play and if they could get the equipment to work properly!

    Love them!

  • why has there only been a mere handfull watch such a great manchester band !

  • Wow..I love how Hooky said confusion and the synth line started!!! That is intense!!!
