  • Oh also could I make a lemon drizzle

Like what's on top of a lemon drizzle cake

Cos I luv the taste of lemon

Also do I have to use lemon extract

  • Thanks for the recipe

I think raspberrys and lemon go well so would it work if I served with my raspberry ripple ice cream and maybe a raspberry puree with a squeeze of lemon juice in

    Please reply

    Coolgal5645 :)

  • thanks so much. it's very smooth... I like a lot.

  • Hi Betty, I made the lemon pound cake yesterday and it turned out to be perfect. My husband does not like cream cakes but he definitely liked this and not to mention about my 2 year old. This was the first time I am trying to bake a cake. The blending was perfect. Oh I loved baking it and also I shared the cake with my friends they all admired the texture as well as the taste. Thank you so much once again.

  • Hi Betty! Do you have to use lemon juice in addition to the lemon extract? Or can it just be all lemon extract?

  • @lexph3re No, you don't have to use lemon juice; just increase the liquid by that amount.

    --Betty :)

  • where do I get the cake baking container from

  • @anjeshkv You can get the cake pan at a store like Wal-Mary.

    --Betty :)

  • Can I use lemon jello flavor , insted of lemon juice and lemon extract

  • @dmdomah1998 I have never tried that, but it might work very well.

    --Betty :)

  • Hello Betty, My cake turned out a bit oily and greasy :(

  • @IshaFarhan If you try it again, you may cut back on the oil/butter.

    --Betty :)

  • Hey Betty, Its just my husband and I so I do not want to make such a big cake. Do I simply use half of the ingredients you used?

  • @pmartin522 Yes, cut everything in half and bake in a normal cake pan.

    --Betty :)

  • Hello. May I please have the recipe for this? It looks delicious!

  • @PrincessMBA07 Hi! The recipe is always below the video in bettyskitchen. Just click "show more."

    --Betty :)

  • you remind me of Sandra Bullock from "the blind side" movie :]

  • @ugghersee I've never been compared to her before, but that's a nice compliment!

    --Betty :)

  • i love limon cake!!!!wowowow im tryin this!thxthx

    --Betty :)

  • instead of using a tube cake pan can i instead use two 9" baking pans?

  • @blck8death Yes, that will work.

    --Betty :)

  • i love your videos! very helpful:)

  • @SuperAriana123 Thanks so much for your lovely comment!

    --Betty :)

  • Could you do this recepy but, for people with diabetes? Because, i see that you put 3 cups of sugar

  • @gabivioleta12 You may use the same recipe, but substitute artificial sweetener (such as Stevia) in place of the sugar.

    --Betty :)

  • @xsmileyprissx Thanks for your great feedback! I really appreciate it!

    --Betty :)

  • Thanks Betty gonna make that today . Keep those recipe's coming :o)

  • @LibraInsanity You're welcome! Thanks for the comment!

    --Betty :)

  • how much ingredients would i need for a 2 layer 8 inch round cake?

  • @lovelyladylibra89 I think this batter could be divided into two equal parts and baked in two 8-inch round pans for a nice layered pound cake. Just choose a nice icing, or Cool Whip, or strawberries or something between and on top of the cake. YUM! (It will probably take less cooking time.)

    --Betty :)

  • @bettyskitchen okay thats great. Im not too fond of lemon pound cake but my mother looooooves it. Would i be able to do the same recipe without the lemon also? say vanilla etc...

  • @lovelyladylibra89 Yes, you could change the flavor to vanilla in this recipe. (I do have a pound cake with glaze in bettyskitchen.)

    --Betty :)

  • im making this for my mum on her bday.. i hope it will come out like yours did.... thanks for posting....

  • @e14r21808 You're welcome! The cake should come out very nicely. It's very easy--just follow the directions.

    --Betty :)

  • You're welcome, Betty. I saw that you have some cookbooks available on lulu.com and I can't wait to buy them.

  • @cocobrownallaround Thanks for your encouragement and support of bettyskitchen!

    --Betty :)

  • I really like Betty and her recipes on here. I like the fact that these are traditional recipes instead of fancy recipes with hard-to-find ingredients. I know for sure that more people would be healthier if they took the time to go back to the basics and cook real food from scratch. Too many people are heavily reliant on industrialized processed foods and that's the reason for obesity. I used full fat dairy and real butter just like people in the olden days did.

  • @cocobrownallaround Thanks for your lovely comment! I appreciate it so much!

    --Betty :)

  • what do I put in if i don't have lemon extract?

  • @110cottoncandy You can use a small amount of lemon juice and some lemon zest (rind).

    --Betty :)

  • i've just made this cake in my house, it looks wonderful, my family loved it, thank you so much Betty for your delicious recipes keep on the good work :)

  • @ChArLiiE891 Thanks for your great feedback! I really appreciate it!

    --Betty :)

  • That is one beautiful cake, very dense just like pound cake is suppose to be. I can't wait to try this but wondering if I can bake in a loaf pan stead and changing the baking time?

  • @KissHope I think this cake will require more space that a loaf pan, but you could fill to the appropriate poing and pour the rest in another small pan or baking dish and you would come out with one loaf of pound cake.

    --Betty :)

  • a little unprofessional but great finished product nonetheless

  • @damtzx Sorry about that...we've made a lot of videos, but are still amateurs. I hope the recipes are clear and that people like them.

    --Betty :)

  • @bettyskitchen

Betty your videos are very well done and Rick does a great job of recording them. Not sure how anyone would sumise unprofessional but some people are just going to find something negative just because. Keep doing just what you are doing.

  • @KissHope Thanks for your sweet comment! I appreciate it so much!

    --Betty :)

  • @damtzx

How is this video unprofessional? Betty is a home cook sharing her knowledge with those who are not perhaps as knowledgeable. Nowhere does she refer to herself as Chef or professional, your comment is uncalled for.

  • GREAT RECIPE...QUICK AND EASY...I LIKE HOW YOU SHOWED THE FINISHED RESULT IN THE END AND THE CAKE SLICE SEPERATED....

  • @foreverhiswifeybabe Thanks for your sweet comment!

    --Betty :)

  • hi. first of all i would like to thank u for all ur videos, i've made several cakes according to ur recipes... I'm from Armenia, and i can't get lemon extract here, can i add more lemon juice instead of the extract???

  • @Margarita098744 Hi! Thanks for your nice comment! Yes, you may use more lemon juice and some lemon peel, and omit the lemon extract.

    --Betty :)

  • Thanx so much!

  • @sweething319 You're welcome! I hope you enjoyed the cake!

    --Betty :)

  • Can u use coconut oil instead of butter?

  • @sweething319 Yes, you may use a variety of oils in place of the butter.

    --Betty :)

  • Damn it looks so good.

  • @emcee2456 Thanks!

    --Betty :)

  • I love that you show the brand names of the ingredients it made it so much easier for me to do it. If I wanted to make it only with natural lemon juice how many lemons would I use? What size is your baking dish?

  • @LatingGirl Thanks for your nice comment! It would take 2 or 3 lemons to make up for the lemon extract, and it would still be a mild flavor. The baking pan is 9 inches.

    --Betty :)

  • also, I don't have one those circular cake pans. Can I use a regular loaf pan?

  • @raiyajessa1 Yes; there might be more batter than you need for a loaf pan, so leave some space at the top for the pound cake to rise a bit.

    --Betty :)

  • Hi Betty I really enjoyed your video. One question: if I added about a cup of blueberries ti the batter instead of making the sauce, do you think it would turn out well? Thanks!

  • @raiyajessa1 I think that would taste (and look) great!

    --Betty :)

  • thanks Betty!!! it was so tasty

  • @maynardcourts Thanks for your great feedback! I really appreciate it!

    --Betty :)

  • did you use bottle lemon juice.

  • @littlevampirelover Yes, I did.

    --Betty :)

  • Hi betty, I'm finding it hard to get lemon extract, do you think that adding zest along with lemon juice would give it enough flavour??? Thanks

  • @minxdublin Yes, for me it would--but don't expect it to taste super-lemony.

    --Betty :)

  • @minxdublin Actually, I found a few recipes that used lemon zest and lemon juice. I am going to make it in a few minutes.

  • @minxdublin Actually, I found a few recipes that used lemon zest and lemon juice. I am going to make it in a few minutes. I can post back after I make the cake and let you know if it added to the flavor or not

  • Betty my aunt wanted me to make her a cake for her birthday.

which is in 3 weeks and she said she wanted yellow cake

do you have a recpie for it?

  • @jdstar98 Yellow cake is something that I have not made in bettyskitchen. It is a good choice to make.

    --Betty :)

  • ID LIKE SOME POUND CAKE

  • Hi betty i love your reciepes.I have a question regarding Lemon cake. you didnot use the baking powder in lemon cake usually baking powder is essentional for baking cake so i am little confuse can i use baking powder or not for lemon pound cake

  • @sadafkashmiri You may use it; I didn't, and you can see whether you like the texture that I got with my cake.

    --Betty :)

  • @sadafkashmiri i think the lemon does the same job as baking powder

  • that loooks sooooo goooood

  • Hi Betty your cake looked amazing and first thing when i wake up i am definitely planning on making this cake. So i was wondering is it necessary to use the lemon extract or could i substitute it for something else?

  • @SexxiiBlaque It will be better with the lemon extract, because that is a very strong flavor. You may omit it, but the cake won't taste as lemony.

    --Betty :)

  • @SexxiiBlaque shredded lemon peel helps.it does work for my mom

  • @cinnamonchica Thanks!

  • hi betty!!! i love this recipe i just made it.. and it came out perfectly its so delicious... i admire your cooking and you

  • @themusicgrl123 Thanks for trying the recipe and for your lovely feedback! I really appreciate it!

    --Betty :)

  • Hi Betty! Thanks for uploading such fabulous videos. I love everything you make and I recently tried this recipe. It came out delicious. I even blogged about it, and about you! You seem like such a nice person. Thanks again!

  • @ssumitra Thanks for your lovely comment and for your great feedback! I really appreciate it!

    --Betty :)

  • I know it's late but i'm SOOOOO excited this my first time making a pound cake and it came out FABULOUS!!!!! My eggs were a little small and my batter started to look dry so i added an extra one i'm so glad you show step by step instructions. Thank you very much and keep up the good work. You're a great teacher!!!!

  • @shonshyne Thanks for the wonderful feedback! I really appreciate it!

    --Betty :)

  • Love your recipes ...Betty, what size of tube pan did you use? I wanted to make one but i need to buy the correct capacity all I have is a small one..and there are many sizes..from 5 cup up to 12 cup capacity ...???

  • Hi your cake looks mighty tasty but i noticed you baked it on the bottom rack!!! Now whenever i do that it burns whatever i'm cooking is something different that u do to prevent that?? or is it ok to bake like that with that type of oven?? And do i have to worry about people walking to heavy and making the cake drop

  • @shonshyne I would rather not use the bottom shelf for baking, but my cake pan was tall enough that I felt I needed to put the pan on the bottom shelf. I worry about that, too, but I never have had any ill effects with this particular oven. I don't do anything special to prevent burning--but all ovens are different. Also, I never have trouble with cake falling from kids bouncing around in the kitchen. I think my oven is pretty stable.

    --Betty :)

  • Hi Betty I made the lemon pound cake for Christmas & it turned out Perfect, THANKS my family loved it!

  • @junita217 That's great! Thanks for your lovely feedback! I really appreciate it!

    --Betty :)

  • I made this for dessert for our Christmas lunch, it turned out pretty good. I made some green sugar glaze for the cake.....I added green food coloring, lemon extract and lemon juice to give it a lemony taste. It was awesome!

  • @tjmilliner1011 That sounds really good! Thanks for the feedback--I really appreciate it!

    --Betty :)

  • That looks RIDICULOUSLY good!

  • what size eggs did you use in the lemon pound cake?

  • @junita217 I usually use "jumbo" or "large," but any ordinary size will work.

    --Betty :)

  • or how much baking powder to use?

  • @TheDounts For each cup of plain flour, add 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder and 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon salt to convert to self-rising flour. You may use either plain or self-rising flour in this recipe.

    --Betty :)

  • @bettyskitchen Thank You

  • can i use self rising flour for this???

  • @TheDounts Yes, that is fine.

    --Betty :)

  • Nice. How about an orange cake? Hardly anyone ever makes those.

  • This cake is so rich, I think I will enjoy it with a scoop of Vanilla ice cream like Haagen Daz, and a hot, black cup of coffee. Then I think I will take small bites and try to taste the butter and lemon in each little bite !

  • Hey betty, you cakes looks delicious. i tried your recipe today, however , my cake sank once i took it out of the oven. Also it was a bit undercooked in the middle, although the top and bottom were fine. What do u think couldve went wrong ? i really want to bake this perfectly, as my boyfriend loves cakes !!

  • Hey betty, you cakes looks delicious. i tried your recipe today, however , my cake sank once i took it out of the oven. • how long should you mix flour? I was told not to over do it... But whats too long or too short

  • Hi Betty :)

I just bake this cake just now. I think I did it wrong. The cake didnt come out as smooth as yours. Would it be because I mixed the flour with spatula instead of electric mixer?

However, the taste was great. I didnt use lemon juice though, I use lemon zest only. And I put some roasted almond inside the dough (I used my mini food processor to crush the almond into powder).

I want to ask you more question. Would it be nice to serve this with strawberry sauce?

    Thank you in advance :)

  • @erinp1392 Yes, it may be because you didn't use an electric mixer that it was not as smooth. I like your addition of lemon zest and processed almonds. And yes, this would be wonderful with strawberry sauce!

    --Betty :)

  • @bettyskitchen Thank you for replying every message :) really appreaciate it! I will try to make a better lemon pound cake next time :D Thanks again ^^

  • Dear Betty, you're amazing! i love the food you make! im 17 and i love to cook and when i make your food i just amaze myself thank you so much! <3 take care and god bless!

  • How do you keep the flours bugs out of your flour?

  • @azngirl967 I haven't had a problem with them, but I do keep a lot of dry ingredients in large glass containers with screw-tops. I keep the bags of flour, sugar, etc., just show the ingredients in my videos. I haven't run into trouble yet with bugs, but I think our grocery store has very few pests that might be brought home in the groceries.

    --Betty :)

  • wow!!! that is A LOT

of sugar but that looks so delicious!

  • would this cake be fine if i halved the recipe? it looks like a lot of batter! i want to bake it for a friend's birthday cuhs she said she likes lemon pound cake

  • @gracedesigns Yes, you can just take 1/2 of each ingredient, and the cake will be very nice. Bake for an appropriate amount of time, depending on the type of pan you use.

    --Betty :)

  • Betty...did you put any baking powder in this cake ? It looks wonderful !

  • @fairlightdawn112 Thanks for the compliment. No, I did not use baking powder. This is a pound cake, and it is not supposed to be light and airy. It is dense and has a wonderful texture.

    --Betty :)

  • oh wow yum! :)

  • awesome!!!

    i like lemon(^^)

  • betty when are you going to make white cake

  • @khokharhumazah1 I'm sorry, but my schedule for the next two weeks is full--with fall festivals and fall foods. Maybe you can find white cake somewhere on YouTube. I will be glad to make it for you later.

    --Betty :)

  • wow that looks very delicious.....

  • Halloween recipes would be great!!! :0 Fun treat for kids and adults

  • Looks good enough to EAT! ^_^

  • Beautiful cake.:)

  • can you make some Halloween treats

  • That cake looks just beautiful i have to try it :-)

  • Wow, what a beautiful cake!

  • yummy ound cake im only 10 and im aloud to cook so imma cook this!:D you look young!

  • Wooow, you aren't kidding. This looks perfect.

  • OMG! Betty I am sorry! I meant to say "IT" looked yummy! How embarrassing! I'm so sorry!

  • @yankman91 Thanks for your lovely feedback! I really appreciate it!

    --Betty :)

  • You look very yummy! I will try it this weekend! Thanks for your hard work!

  • @yankman91 lol, cute typo :P

  • hello bettty,i am about to make the cake, but i am just wondering did u use REAL butter or just spread, because here in ireland we just use spread,so is it real butter or spread,

    cheers betty :) :D

  • @NICNICNICKIFY It is real butter.

    --Betty :)

  • @bettyskitchen just made it and it's the best thing after my xmas cake :) thanks betty

  • @NICNICNICKIFY Thanks for your great feedback! I really appreciate it!

    --Betty :)

  • @NICNICNICKIFY These brands of butter should be readily available to you in Ireland: Lurpak or Irisch butter.

  • @Heathmah thanks,but i already made it :D it was kerrygold butter i used

  • Very pretty display, Betty! Blue Bell ice cream has a blueberry variety called Delta Blues..it does have bits of pastry in it, tho, to simulate blueberry cobbler..most supermarkets carry Blue Bell ice cream which their Homemade Vanilla is to die for tasting like fresh churned..Im hooked on that variety, lol. I never realized how rich pound cake is..lots of eggs, butter, and sugar..wow am thinking that big slice u had there could really stop up an artery, haha. but whatta way to go! ;)~

  • @kokonutbaby1 I can't find Blue Bell ice cream here in NC.I know one coffee place that serves it and I need to go there someday.I did have some vanilla BB ice cream 17 years ago in Texas.I would love to try the chocolate tho.

  • The foil paper on top of the cake is a great tip, thanks!

  • Oh wow!

That necklace is PERFECTLY matched with that shirt!

That shirt looks like crushed velvet!

It looks like somthing that's dry-clean only.

It takes a very good cook to be confident enough to cook while wearing a nice shirt like that (even with an apron on).

  • I'm going to make this on sunday! My husband loves anything lemon!

  • if i wanted to make a loaf of this pound cake... how much would i have to change the measurements of ingredients?

  • ¡¡¡¡¡This looks so delicious!!!!!

You gave me an idea to surprise my family, thank you

  • This cake looks like a slice of lemon heaven. Yummy

  • u did it again.... genius

  • One of my favorite teachers was my 7th. grade Home Ec. teacher, she was always so patient in teaching us the basics, and you remind me of her in the way you are so patient and cheerful. I love your videos!

  • This is wonderful and it looks amazing, I LOVE lemon pound cake this is a must try. Thank you so much Betty for this great cake recipe.:-)

  • Wow, that looks amazing, such a nice presentation. The pound cake looks delicious, thanks Betty!

  • Betty - I thought Jonathan's version looked incredible too, but I have to say yours looks even better to me. That is by far the prettiest pound cake I think I have ever seen.

  • How do you determine the measurement of your recipes?

Have you tried them before you uploaded?

I mean...it's hard to measure how much of each ingredient you need..

  • @rockubabe There will occasionally be a few recipes that I have never done before, like the two sandwicheswe had for lunch at Jonathan's. I had sort of figured out what ingredients to use, but I adjusted the amounts as I made the sandwiches. But, for a major recipe like this (pound cake), it is something that I have definitely made before. I started creating and collecting recipes when I was about 12, so I have about 50 years of cooking that I refer to, including family recipes, too.

    --Betty :)

  • Your husband is one lucky guy

  • @lankyclap Husband speaking here--yep.

  • That is a delicious looking pound cake Betty, It would taste nice with lemon flavoured ice cream too I am sure :-) thanks for sharing ...... Richard

  • @richardpeej Hi Richard, Lemon flavored ice cream sounds great; I don't think I've actually had that--maybe lemon sherbet. Thanks for your nice comment! I hope you are having a great day!

    --Betty :)

  • That's a beautiful pound cake, and I'm sure that it is very good too!

  • Betty, that looks awesome. I love anything that is lemon flavored.

  • looks so delicious!
