She was a very spiritual women who thought the world of Dwight,, Any suggestions will be so helpfull Thank you so much

  • that's a really great tribute for his idol and friend. Dwight is so emotional here. Great, but sad song. RIP Buck.

  • Beautiful...Wonderful tribute to his dear friend... I am touched.

  • I love many country artist's ..Get caught up w/new ones from time to time..but then I return & listen to Dwight and wonder why I ever liked the others-he's truly one of a kind....I don't have much of a bucket list (or whatever they call it) but mtg and talking to Dwight wld be the one thing I would like to do b/f I die. I'd ask a 1000 ?'s & annoy him I'm sure as he doesn't seem to give up much about himself.

  • I am a member of the church of Christ and this tribute by Dwight shows he is trying to be respectful to his Mother, Buck and the faith that he was brought up in. What a humble individual he is, and I have the utmost respect for him.

  • dwight grew up in the church of christ, like myself, which dosent allow instruments in church. they base most of their beliefs on the new testement, musical instruments are never mentioned in the new testement.

  • A favorite hymn by my favorite voice for Buck

  • Its a sin to use instruments in a house of worship? Like the organ I guess.

  • i do appreciate him for mentioning the musical instruments. i do belive it is a sin to use instruments in a house of worship. exceptions for can be made for both i belive for funerals or other certain things.

  • this song was sang at my dads funeral he was 47 years old such a beautiful song rest in peace pop

  • I've listened to all versions of this song available currently on You Tube - there's no comparison, Dwight is awesome, so much feeling expressed and pure talent to cover a song that some sing with little thought and and a big yawn, my heart is touched so tenderly. Thank you Dwight.

  • Alvis Edgar Owens, Jr. (August 12, 1929 – March 25, 2006), better known as Buck Owens, .......not 1999

  • Dwight Yoakam has such a unique and wonderful voice. I've liked every song of his I've ever heard him sing. Such a talented singer from Bakersfield.

  • @the1texasmccoy He's from Kentucky, but he showed up in Bako sometimes.

  • A beautiful tribute to a great entertainer.

  • I was deployed when Buck passed. I saw this in Stars and Stripes News while I was abroad. I've not much to say other than Dwight was the blessing of the service while Buck listened on and smiled. Sorry to say this is all I saw of the service; however, I know it is amongst the best part of it. It is beautiful.

  • What a beautiful version. Did he pass in 1999? I can't believe it's been that long.

  • @nwjones1 Buck died in 2006. (8/12/1929 ~ 3/25/2006)

  • I have been a Dwight Fan for more than 17 years and he never fails to deliver, I have seen him live WoW what a show, It ticks me off that Nashville fails to regonize his talent.

  • Man you can tell he'd rather shot himself in each foot than have to do this because he loved Buck so much.

    God love them both ♥

  • Dwight is my favorite country artist singing today.

  • buck and dwight: my two favorite country artists of all time. it is so evident how special their relationship really was. i dont think anyone has ever doubted that.

  • I love Dwight and I wish he would do a gospel cd. I think it would stand the test of time just likes Elvis does.

  • Dwight is the Hank Williams of our generation

  • AMEN!

  • Little Roy Wiggins told me the story of how he and Leon McCauliffe met. Leon was Little Roy's idol and he added this phrase. "Where else but in Country Music can a person meet someone they idolize. It is rare for a person to meet their idols and even more rare to become friends with them.

This video is a perfect example of something I was told 30 years ago. I knew Buck and know Dwight as well and their friendship was as true and genuine as any I have ever known. Wonderful tribute to both.

  • Dwight has never forgot his Floyd County Kentucky roots and ways of life. Thanks for the wonderful tribute to your friend Buck Owens. You are the best Dwight!

  • I am another of the thousands. I spent every Saturday as a kid watching HeeHaw. I never understood where the custom of removing your hat came from anyhow. I don't know where that would be in the Bible and I have read the Bible a few times. Great job,Dwight! How fortunate you were to have had Buck Owens as a personal friend..and the same to anyone that has your friendship as well because now YOU are a music legend.God Bless you.

  • Thank you Fox Den, soo sad & moving. But a tribute like this brings us good people together in one spot & away from some of those crazy vids. w/nasty comments. By the way was Dwight a Rhodes scholar? or do i have him confused w/Kris?

  • I remember this day, It was so sad :(

Dwights fan were so worried about him, This was such a sad day for Dwight. His voice cracks, It was like he lost his best friend ^j^ RIP Buck

  • Life is just filled with MOMENTS and this is one of those sad but necessary moments that enable to us stop for a brief while and let our hearts just BE . Heartbreaking. Just BREAKS MY HEART. Thank you for this clip.
