Instead of all the yakking, why not enjoy the kata for what it is, by a person performing it. Who or what is better, makes no difference. Enjoy all part of the martial arts, with an open mind. All martial artists are a kai, (family) so act as one.

Get a grip! Nakayama sensei is a legend! Competition based kata is pure theatre. Use these old J.K.A. videos as amazing reference material, i've wanted to see them since i started trainin way back when. Read Kanazawa the early years, he says who is performing which kata (Enpi), Enoeda (Jitte, Bassai dai), Shirai(Tekki nidan, Sochin), Asai(Heian nidan, Nijushiho)...
Of course Nakayama is a legend, but I don't see why would anyone use such a video as a reference material. It's like wanting to learn how to build a Ferrari from studying a 50 year old car (which may be a legend, I don't deny that). And if you think nowadays katas are pure theatre, you should have felt a punch from Milon, you would have seen how real it was.
you haven't seen yahara perform this kata? you probably were only looking at the jump. the jump is the least important aspect of this kata. Unsu was not a shotokan kata originally. Nakayama San and other shotokan masters included this kata in shotokan. They helped develop it to it's form today. So please show them respect. Oss!
