  • I saw Steppenwolf three times in my life and John Kay was ALWAYS super cool. :)

  • I saw them in Charleston SC, August 1975.

  • Steppenwolf is extremely cool. THIS IS REAL MUSIC! :)

  • The clarity of your audio is ON. Picture quality is above par, too. John is getting much (past due) attention on VH 1s History of Metal. Born to be Wild was the first song to carry the line Heavy Metal when John bellows, "Heavy Metal Thunder!" John's a survivor /still\ in the music business, as well as surviving communist Germany. He and his mom, with 7 other people, escaped at night thru a hole in a fence in the 1940s. They had to pay a spy. 5 men were spotted & machine gunned. Sad & true JC

  • OUTSTANDING thank you for HD

  • @patoo1000 : My pleasure, glad you found it.

  • Thx so much for posting, most of the Don K Rock Concert or Show footage of the later original lineup was done poorly, this one is great sound and color and camera work etc - Awesome!

  • @Prone2Thrill : Glad you found it and thanks for your comment.

  • I love the Dan Armstrong guitars way too much faze shifter!

  • Wow, never thought I would see a live video of this quality for the Steppenwolf of the mid-70's.. Goldy, Edmonton, Biondo, Cochran and Kay. I 'd love to see the group with Larry Byrom as well. Perhaps someone out there can make it happen. Anyway, how heavy is this. Agree with others here who have commented on the midi version of the band which I saw here in New Jersey 7-8 years ago. The other original members were integral to the sound. To bad Jerry is gone and Goldy and Kay are at odds.

  • Get a kick outta those disco era threads

  • @MistyMountainsky Sorry Buddy. This was more a decade before Disco. Rats . . . I was old enough to be there! LOL

  • I like seeing Bobby using some guitar effects..

  • fantastic quality!

  • nice to see the big regular size tom toms.

  • this is so FREASHHH!!!! THANKS!!

  • Nice to see Steppenwolf in HD. Loved seeing Jerry behind the kit. This was almost the last hurrah of a great band. A scant two years later they were done. After that John Kay returned under the banner of "Steppenwolf" but it was and never has been the same. Kay's modern "Steppenwolf" is more of a cover band than roaring band seen here.

  • @zoso8t0 - Pretty much the last hurrah for sure here. Jerry & George were a solid rhythm backbone. Saw them several times from `70 - `74. John Kay needed to put an end to the fake Wolf bands and it was good to see him do that by 1980 as JK&S.

  • @kayodleman The 'fake' wolf bands, get a bad rap for sure. The 'fake' line ups missed what made Steppenwolf work - all the ingredients coming together (in their case, no John Kay). This is what JK&S suffers from as well, while John Kay was an essential part of the band, so were the strong musicianship of Goldy and Jerry for example They were the soul of the band. JK&S's heavily midi-programmed live shows and the "John is Steppenwolf" attitude betrays what made the original magic.

  • @zoso8t0 - You nailed it.

  • The bass player and drummer are strong !

  • by the way....great picture and great sound. love HD!

  • they were excellent! there...is everything settled?

  • THE FIRST OF ALL..................

  • Well, he's definitely the epitome of somethin'

  • Always loved John Kay... great 'real-deal' performer... epitome cool!!! :-)
