Yes it's crowded in June and July which to many is a lot of fun, lots going on! If you like quiet times then May, August and Sept are the months to have the river more to yourself.

It's a shame an area of such beauty is overrun by thousands of people...wish it could stay the way it was 40 years ago when not that many knew about it.

Just grateful I lived in Central Tx and saw this surrounding paradise as a kid before the crowds hit and it was found as was Austin at 55K folks. Damn it was incredible swimming right at this exact spot on a weekend and maybe seeing 4 other people besides my parents! You only heard silence of the rippling water and birds, no rock music blaring etc. I'd venture to say it use to be the clearest, freshest h20 anywhere. Need a drink, you had the entire fresh clean Frio, at least in the 50's.

yeah it gets down some summers.....its really high the next. Its weird like that. Been going every year with my grandparents for about 10 years. Lots of fun no matter what the water level

FYI river is down,lot of walking...swimming holes are still there though, just got back, hope it rains soon.
