You would not call any collings a copy if you had a chance to play one. These guitars are really nice I own a couple. Much better than the guitars they are inspired by. I've owned both so I know what I speak of.
They're crazy money. not that I haven't spent more than that guitar several times, but for what it is, crazy money.
I'd be inclined to find a decent vintage guitar and a luthier who could make it "right", you'd be in the same place when you were done and you wouldn't have a copy.
Aside from the hobbyist guys making guitars by hand, and a few older fellows doing the same thing, guitar making is pretty much dead. CNC robot stuff.
