  • The new millennium energy bars are the best

  • salt re hydrate? -.- dude im pretty sure salt dehydrates people otherwise we could drink salt water without a care -.-

  • @videomaster214 Your gonna kill eachother???

  • do these ever expire cause i found one at the bottom of my pantry is it ok to eat?

  • no where i ate them all

  • what is a good website to buy mres

  • I liked the fact you compared the both. Is it possible youcould compare another two?

  • Me And some of my friends are going to be making our own hunger games where we are going to compete with each other in the forest for three days. we have to make our won survival pack and live while we all have to fight each other i'm taking MRE's in my survival pack

  • Thats not mint gum. Trust me. For you people who have ate it you understand me.

  • i got a sloppy joe todayMRE at Nellis AFB for $7.77

  • some of the gum is laxative

  • arent there different flavored and packaged military MREs?

  • would you recommend the millinium bars instead of a mre for people that get affected by the food from a mre?

  • @fluffy112233 those bars are 400cal, basically flavored versions of the SOS bars, not a full meal. would work in a pinch but not for long term cal intake

  • gotta go with the cookie

  • downrangegaming

  • iv had both and the military one tastes a whole lot better than the other one

  • Nice review, but btw, salt causes you to become more thristy, it doesn't hydrate.

  • hey beast im in army cadets so ive eaten the military version and the standard version and i agree with you the military version is better and i find it raises moral cause it makes it feel like you are eating a home cooked meal

  • salt doesn't re-hydrate lol...

  • i have a menu.21 chicken tetrizini just tried chicken with mushrooms it good

  • One thing that we do with the beverage bags is when we're out doing an FTX or a ruck march and you have your phone on you, to keep it from getting fried from all the moisture or spilled water is put your phone in the hot beverage bag and suck the air out of it. Still works the touch-screen and pretty much water-seals the phone (with the exception of being completely submerged)

  • Yeah, like a dumbass I bought those clear ones from opsgear.com. $70 fn dollars and all it comes with from an actual mre is the main entree. Everything they used in their so called mre they buy in bulk from CTD. It's a rip off. So I got some from MRE Star. They are an actual mre but still the bottom of the barrel. Spend that extra money and get the actual MREs. It'll be worth it in the long run!!

  • I heard this stuff goes straight through you.

  • they should add a straw to the military version

  • I heard the Drill Sergeants will make us eat the instacoffee during Basic if we're falling asleep =(

  • where did you get these???

  • ...MREs have a shelf life of 5-7 years depending on the temperature. the only problem i see is that when you buy MREs how can you tell how old there are already, they could of been sitting in someones storage for years before you buy it. there must be a manufactered date on the package? thxs for your response...

  • @SteveSabbai there is a code that tell you when it was made, but if its older than your not sure what temp it was stored at..

  • ...this is perfect for the Zombie Apocalypse in 2012...

  • Aa marine said those "gums" are laxatives

  • How did you get the military version i thought it was illegal to sell those?

  • @ThatKrazyBoy really because when i had mres it said it was illegal to sell to civilians on the package im not in the military but i was in the marine corps poloee function.

  • @911sanitarium my friends buys them all the time and hasnt been arrested yet so ethier hes very crafty or there not

  • @ThatKrazyBoy dude tell your friend to hook me up with his contact i miss these lol

  • @911sanitarium bahaha

  • cheaperthandirt(.)com sells both mil and civ MRE's

  • How does the food taste like??

  • Where do u get ur military mres at??

  • @godismyhomie101 surplus stores online maybe some camping stores for civilian

  • How much is the mre?

  • A mate of mine who served always said that MREs stood for Meals Rejected by the Enemy...

  • @TheSufferingFool it was probably a joke about how they taste

  • Where did you get the millitary MRE's at?

  • Had nothing to eat today while hiking but an MRE. I opened that sucker up and ate the pound cake that came with it. Let me just say that it was the best damn thing I ever ate.

  • I remember MRE's being handed out by the military after Hurricane Katrina. My family and I had lots of them. We got the military version and I liked them. I wasn't "surviving" off of them, but I saved them for a while and they were a good snack if I couldn't find anything else to eat. I personally favored the Raviolli. The one thing I didn't like, though, was the "milk shake". I thought everything else was good, though.

  • I went on a kayaking trip one day and we were having lunch MRE'S and i absoluteley LOVE menu 3 ( beef ravioli. ) ND THE POUND CAKE

  • i like the buffalo chicken and fried rice one!Ohh Rahh.Semper Fi

  • i had one of these today for lunch with my unit i got skittles in mine haha everyone else was telling me they would buy it from me haha xD everyone else got crackers lol and yes im in the army

  • I've always wanted to try MRE's, like whats the price per meal package

  • people look at you weird when you cook an mre in the lunch room at school

  • haha is this the mexican mre version?

  • thanks for the video =)

  • I had a Marine field function today and had southwestern beef with black beans entree, mexican rice side, veggy crackers with plain cheese spread, picante sauce, raspberry white chocolate chip cookie, and lemon-lime drink mix. That's my favorite. I also like the chicken pesto pasta. Everybody says that MREs suck, but I don't mind them. But I eat anything... I would also add, do not eat the gum. you will shit yourself...

  • I have tried the civilian ones you have there, and well lets just say I could find a better meal behind a backstreet Taiwanese restaurant in their dumpster. Main meal tasted like shit, the crackers tasted like shit, the knock off nutra grain bar tasted like shit, my meal was covered in fillings. I would rather just kill some squirrels with my 22. and eat them raw than eat these things in a survival situation, as well as a 2x2 foot piece of card board has more calories than them.

  • I doubt that toilet paper will do me any good, military grade or not.

  • great vid overall.

decaf coffee, wtf and who the hell?

  • the cookie looks like a condom! hahah

  • 2:10 lol

  • I thought salt dehydrates you. Makes you more thirsty.

  • @xXKOSTRALXx thats true....i dont know either.

  • For your next video I would really prefer if you opened these packages up and made the meal. Would be much more interesting than just looking at the packages. Thanks for the vid.

  • Salts good for what? lol

  • @SRNF

afaik salt makes food taste better and replaces the salt you lose through sweating. ;-)

  • I've had a Chicken Breast military MRE from a Navy base commissary in my kitchen closet for about 3 years now, good think this things don't have expiration dates, or is that a bad thing......lol

  • thumbs up if your gonna buy some for 2012...

  • i bought one today from my it had all of the same thing as the military one but it was just the meals packed the same, but these didnt have heater for them.

also did u buy the military one online, if so whee?

  • The uncommon commercial ones are thankfully better (by that, I mean the ones produced by the big 3 companies that make military MREs.) They come with pretty much all military items, and sometimes exceed military meals in terms of both quality and quantity of food. Thank you for this video. I really hate those private label brands.

  • Great video as usual it answered all the questions I had about the two. It seems like the civilian one is not worth the money I like how the military one gives you more stuff.

  • 0:03 spelling fail

  • Yo, I just got a MRE at my Poolee validation and I got Beef Ravioli with meat sauce and it came with a little bottle of Tabasco sauce

  • Where did you buy the clear ones at ? :)

  • @BigManLifee surplus

  • you compare the cost of the two, but MREs aren't legal for sale to civilians. Yes you can buy them at various places but the costs can be all over the place. Great review regardless, thanks!

  • @oOfekiOo its 3 1/2 years minimum shelf life at 80 fahrenheigt

  • Its cool cuz an MRE can last 5-10 years at room teperature

  • that packaged cookie from the military version looks like a magnum condom

  • How long is one pouch supposed to last you

  • @hillybillymitch its one meal

  • @hillybillymitch you can survive on 1 a day maybe 2 if you cobserve energy but i eat 2 a day comfterably

  • @beast12101 Thank you, Good Sir.

  • where can i buy ?

  • What's the dimensions of the military MRE pouch? Trying to find out if it'll fit in my Tad Gear GPP2. Thanks.

  • @MrTangent the entree is the widest/tallest item 5"x8", the bag is bigger but for the bulk of packing I'd say 5x8x3.5, hope it helps

  • @beast12101 what is the name of the military version of the mre

  • @MrTangent my buddys moms bf is a SSGt in the Corps and he got us a box of em for a trip we are goin on

  • I had an MRE from my friends dad, he had a box full of them from when he was in Viet nam. the tabasco sauce was cool, and it still was fresh

  • Man thanks for the walkthrough. Very imformative answered alot of questions i had. Thanks!

  • cheese and veggie omelet dont eat it.

  • salt dehydrates you retard

  • did you eat them?

  • NEVER BUY MREs. FREEZE DRIED IN 10 CANS IS THE WAY TO GO FOR MANY REASONS. GO TO ShaneShop (dot) NET FOR THE BEST DEAL ON FREEZE DRIED FOOD. GREAT LITTLE WEBSTORE, VERY HONEST AND EASY TO DEAL WITH.

  • i wish they still came with the tiny bottle of Tabasco sauce

  • Wait, they got rid of the tobasco? That kinda makes me sad.

  • were did u buy the military m.r.e

  • @hackonomical and @demonmeth70 you can get the mil versions on ebay for about 60-80 bucks a case (12 different meals) you can also buy individual ones for about 11 bucks. (rip off) if you buy a case make sure you check when they are made and if the orange sticker has a black circle in it DO NOT BUY IT! the darker the circle, the less life they have. and sloppy joe is the best so get case b :)

  • where can you buy the military version?

  • Comment removed

  • Why are all the bags all that same shade of brown.?

  • I love MREs. If they weren't so expensive ($13 for a vegetarian one which is my favorite actually) then I would get these as just a treat itself!

  • I have a bunch of Military MRE my dad gets them for emergencies i tried on it was meatloaf pretty tasty and SoS i love that i eat that like every morning

  • just commenting on one of the things you said near the end about an MRE lasting all day. it might in situation where your not doing much. but being a Marine myself the MREs we get are well the same military one you had and it comes in different flavor and so on but it has around 3000 calories in all and in the Marine Corps on a mission or in the field you can burn anywhere from 5 tp 10 calories a day whick is why and MRE is "meal" not a days ration of food. just saying...

  • @Arcainenify true, if your very active you'll need more, but even on an average day with working out an hour, Im around 2200 calories a day.

  • @beast12101 exactly like an exaple of why you need more than one MRE a day is when i took my ranger certification course thay gave us one MRE a day and by the end of the course i was disoriented and had lost around 20 pounds. which if nothing else is a good way to prepare you for more dire situations

  • mmmmmmmm an MRE is best meal ever when starving in basic training lol :) good times

  • you gotta try the Deep dish pizza with imitation cheese MRE

  • I was in the Army and ate many of these ,just rinse off the fileings or u can also leave it in the box when heating thus ruduceing the fileings

    good vid thnx

  • WHERE U GET THE ARMY MRE NOT THE SEE THROU BAG

  • where do you get the military version mate??

  • @bennyboyshaw Ya I had one once and now I'm dying to get a few. The civie one just doesn't cut it.

  • NEVER EAT THE BEEF TERRIAKI MRE!!!

  • MMMM i love MRE's im eating one of those shit civvie mre's as i type (its the bufffalo chicken its actually not bad they have some good flavor. thats about all the coffee SUCKS, those rykrisp things taste and smell like plywood and that coconut thing is decent but i couldnt choke down a whole one without ALOT of water i would rather have a USGI mre ANYDAY beef enchilada is my favorite one outta all the menus i would cut off a finger to get my hands on one!!

  • Nice video thanks for posting.

  • That's not enough toilet paper!

  • nice review.... I personally prefer the MREs, I just break them down, so I dont have all the bulk of the bag. And im willing to carry a little extra weight and be guaranteed a substantial meal... And ill be making some a series of videos as well. I just need to get settled in a little more. lol. Awesome videos by the way.

  • had these this wknd on 20 mile hike on the A.T. filled u up like hell, but toilet papers mad nesescary

  • @yachk Umm.. OK but mine have holes. Thats why i said that.

  • where can i get an mre?

  • They still come with tobasco just not all of them and the gum is for constipation because although that food fills u up it sometimes plugs u up that is real military knowledge from both my uncles a marine and an army

  • don't eat the cheese, that damn crap is like super glue for your guts. Eat some of that and you'll be really cranky for a few days.

  • I thought MRE stood for meals rarely edible

  • 5/5

    MRE's r great.

  • sloppy joe MRE's are really really really good. and there worth heating...

  • how much is it for mre?

  • I heat my MRE using the blood of a dead Iraqi.

  • @Cambria2007 badass whats that 8.99???

  • First of all, great vid! Military MREs are way better, although I've never had a Civy one. But yeah, all in all good comparison.

Ok, this is just creepy because I had an MRE this summer and it HAD the tobasco sauce with it. Goes to show ya the military doesn't throw anything away.

  • 2:08 lol

  • 2:08 lol

  • ha i have some mres

  • hey everyone where can find mre at? i need alots of them

  • @mrfireclaw suck a dick you fucking asshole! this channel has kids watching it and your running your mouth about sucking dicks? i cant fucking believe it!!!!

  • hahah yaa

  • how does salt rehydrate you?

  • @darkdoom645 it doesnt.... it helps your body contain water...so u dont lose it through urine or sweating as much..

  • @CR9soccerdude but it makes you feel parched right? which is a bad thing

  • @darkdoom645 if u just eat it like that...just add a litle bit to the food you eat...perferably meat.......but yes, if u just eat it like that you will feel very thirsty no matter how much water u drink...wen i hav pastrami in a sandwich (pastrami is VERY salty) it feels like i cant get enough water in my body..

  • @CR9soccerdude lol if you think pastrami makes you thirsty try eatng procuito

  • nobody uses the heater

  • You still get the tobasco, it just depends on which one you get. I actually had to test a few new MREs before they were released for field use.

    P.S.

If you're a civi, understand that the military version has A LOT of calories. They do this because when you're in the field, you burn a lot more calories and they NEED the extra calorie intake. If you're not burning a lot, you will get fat off of them. If you're that "gung ho" that you need to buy military MREs, quit being a bitch and join.

  • lol salt to "rehydrate you" ...

  • MRE's can stay fresh for years

  • i usually carry a few clif bars to supplement my MREs...

  • What is the shelf life of these things

  • We've got new meals now. Some of them are pretty good. Another breakfast MRE. Maple Sausages, pretty good. Some of them still come with the Tabasco sauce. There are only a few MRE's that I would actually heat up. Other than a couple, heating some of them are a waste of time. The heaters aren't really that great, they take way to long to heat the meal. Yes, even if you do it correctly.

  • @KuBi1337 good to hear

  • @KuBi1337 I love the kind of cracker with choclate, but I forgot the number of the package! The dry fruit is excellent too!

  • @KuBi1337 i like the new ones becuz they dont have the iron shavings and the variety is a lot better and some are pretty good ... except the beef teryaki

  • How long do they last?

  • I used to buy them all the time at the surplus when i was little. But now it's closed. :(

  • Can you send me a link to the military version and where I can buy them? PM me if possible. Thanks

  • @SavageSnipes I bought them local at the surplus

  • Uh, uhm MRE uhm derp uhm hurrrrp uhm

  • the cookie looks like a condom. lol XP

  • I was at a red cross shelter during an ice storm last winter in kentucky. I was on a SAR team that was deployed there for 5 days. We had the option of either eating at the red cross caffeteria or eating MREs. The MREs were actually better! But the last 2 days we were offered to join the Illinois national guard at their improvised cafeteria (in a loading bay) and there food was by far better than the red cross's.

  • Wow, I guess I have always got the Military MRES, Never saw one in a clear bag with anything less in it than the normal ones. Good review, thanks at least I know if I see them not to buy them :)

  • lol..i have three of those military one..chocolate bar= Cliff bar.....turkey gravy FTW

  • After eating enchiladas and refried beans. I think it is self explanatory why there is toilet paper with it.

  • @xXxSHOOPIExXx its not toilet paper it is a napkin.

  • @ljg2568 I'll settle for napkin/toilet paper.

  • @xXxSHOOPIExXx lol its not really toilet paper its napkins

  • Where can you buy military MREs? I have some but I had to get them from the national guard.

  • @Vyppaaa11 Any military surplus store should sell them

  • @salemcripple Well they should'nt. It says right on the packkage "U.S. government property commercial resale is unlawful". So it is technically illegal.

  • @Vyppaaa11 Actually it's not illegal. Despite what the packaging says, there are no laws specifically banning the resale of MREs. And why should the be illegal? First of all, they're SURPLUS MREs, meaning they probably weren't going to get used anyway (at least not in the near future). Secondly, the govt actually makes money through taxes on the sale, instead of only looses it. So there is a money incentive to keeping it legal tool.

  • @salemcripple continued: And thirdly, doesn't the public deserve to eat in survival situations as well? With the civilian MREs, you get both vastly inferior food/quality, and much less of it for your money.

  • @salemcripple Did you just call me a tool? I think you just ment too but I diegress. It is crazy that it not illegal even though it specifically says "unlawful to sell". I beseive you.

  • @Vyppaaa11 I didn't mean to call you a tool at all, If i did some how imply that you were it was purely accidental and I am sorry. I also apologize for the many spelling mistakes in my previous post. I had just woken up and was still half asleep lol. But my previous post was merely meant to say that from what i know, they are not illegal to resale. And stated some reasons why they should stay that way.

  • @salemcripple You ndid'nt imply anything and I assumed that when you typed "tool" you ment "too". I just wanted to make sure. I completly beleive you but I still think it is weird that it specifically says on the package that it is illegal.

  • @Vyppaaa11 OH!! Ok i see what's going on now lol. No that was just a typo lol. Yeah, it is kinda weird. The sites i found on it say the govt only did that to discourage troops from selling their own issued, or stockpiled MREs for profit. Where as the ones you get at a surplus store (at least my local surplus store) are bought at auction from the manufactures themselves.
