Apparently the King Zora in OoT is the same as the one in TP, but I can't really buy that. Queen Rutela seemed like the actual queen of the Zoras, rather then a Queen Mother or a Queen Consort or Dowager Queen or anything like that. Rutela feels like she's supposed to be Princess Ruto's great great grandaughter or something.

Why do Zora girls always end up so tragic?

Rutela gets executed by Twilight beasts (not the scary fat girls who stalk Robert Pattison, thankfully), Laruto is murdered by Jalhalla, Lulu ends up losing her voice and the supposed father of her children, and Ruto doesn't end up with the man she loves. Poor Zora girls.
