  • I used to be a tyre fitter until I saw this video. I bought a hawk and trowel and some self leveling plaster and I've never looked back. I've got so good I can do a complete room in under 20 minutes. Cheers guys.

  • V Good, Thanks For Posting,

  • LOOKS GOOD ....

  • really.........lol

  • Hello,

I am writing you from the US. I went across a self leveling plaster, but I cannot purchase it in here. I am curious, did somebody replied to your question about where to buy it in UK. If yes, please send me a link to the web page.

    Thanks a lot,

    Alex

  • you guys are soooo funny...shame you could'nt get it on the wall faster

  • My experience of French plaster is that you mix it up, pva the walls come back for the plaster only to find that it is stiff...and 5 mins later it's set. God knows how they use it and in general they don't, they plasterboard everything and tape/fill the joints only.

Thankfully they do sell Knauf one-coat plaster in Mr Bricolage, and it looks like that's what you are using.

  • @tuparlesfrancais Everything you say is true BUT it's not Knauf plaster, never tried it but a lot of people do seem to go on about it. The make of this plaster I am using is Lutece, they have about 9 in the range only available at professional builders merchants not the kind of stuff you get in the Bricomarche's and Bricolages and most of the BM's have to order this particular one in specially.

Most people find it hard to use because it's completely different to easy trowel Thistle.

  • @smoothoutcome Hello Friend, I was planning to do some plastering on a wall, just striped of wall papers. How do I prepare it before applying my first coat of plaster? Do i have to apply PVA glue mix first, and if yes, how long do I have to wait before I start plaster? Please advise. Thank you.

  • @AbuAmanah Depending how pourus the wall is you can do 1 of 2 things, either mix pva and water 50/50 and put it on the wall with a roller or brush or sprayer, wait 30 mins and do the same again or you can put FEB pva on direst in one coat but it's arm aching. Once the pva coat is tacky you need to get plastering, try not to let it dry out.

  • @smoothoutcome Thank you for sharing your knowledge. What you do, is not just Plastering, this is craftsmanship of the highest order my Friend.

  • @AbuAmanah Thanks!

  • thanks for the video mate good job.

  • i dont believe in that stuff, multi finish anyday for me

  • thanks for givin me the info i needed on where to buy it smoothoutcome you are the best! real good stuff!

  • @TheMagicbrett Thank you, glad I could help, good luck with your renovation.

  • self leveling does exsist i even no how to make it..good stuff for the novice dont expect amazing results if youve never plastered before cos it only self levels to a certain degree similar stuff to the self level floor stuff all in all compared to most plasters limebased id give it a 6 maybe 7.just try is see what you think

  • this self leveling plaster is nearly a good as a multicolour striped paint or a left handed screwdriver

  • sounds like dodgey shit to me!

  • and the marsians have just landed.

  • i've a painter and decorator and learned plastering to higher my earning potental, but im still a bit slow, im gonna start using self leveling to speed me up and hopefully earn more on price work,

  • load of ballocks ive been to travis perkins and they just took the piss abit like you, just stick with what you know works like thistle multi

  • Me, take the piss....Never!

I never said you could get it at TP.

I get my plaster from my merchants here in France.

    Thistle? 10 years ago maybe!

  • @smoothoutcome hi, i live in france and would like your advice on where to get good plaster for a diy job im doing, where did u get your self leveling plaster from and what is it called in french (platre autonivelant) maybe?? cheers!

  • hee hee...... the only self levelling plaster, is if you stick a band aid on a mirror! only wish it was true..

  • Well... a few points...

    1. BORING.... But revolutionary in the UK, the land of the tea break craftsman

    2. BORING.... On the Market for Ages. And just look for ARDEX R1, selflevelling, Q4 quality in one application, carbon fibre reinforced plaster/skimming compund.. and... you can paint after 30 minutes.

Forget everything what comes from british gypsum or is revolutionary in the uk... what can they do? nothing. not even cook proper food, nor play proper football.. ;-)

  • Is ARDEX R1 available in the UK?

  • Cmon ppl, lets ask our local builders merchant for the NEW SELFLEVELING PLASTER. I used it too, its amazing!!!

  • Excellent stuff, not a new idea though. we've been using it for years here on Jupiter.

  • just cover it with sheet rock in america a ten room house in one day. 3 mexicans

  • All the downstairs rooms were covered with sheetrock, gip rock, plasterboard, whatever you want to call it because the downstairs walls we susceptible to damp, however this was an upsairs damp free bedroom and the client wanted a traditional finish.

  • and i always give the customer what they want also. good man.

  • I have looked on Travis Perkins and jewsons web sites and its not listed! I was hoping this was real as i'm crap at plastering!!!!

  • Your Sheetrock must be a lot more moisture resistant than here in the States. Unless you use greenboard or cement board here, most Sheetrock here would be mold city in a damp environment.

  • If you hang your sheetrock/plasterboard properly and vent the room properly you should never have a problem with damp on the board, unless it's in a basement or bathroom then you would use greenboard or cementboard.

Nearly all damp problems are caused by lack of ventilation.

  • omg some people are just fucking stupid why the fuck would u need a feather edge for scimming a wall, and @ 1,55 made me laff ''a quik flatten over with the trowel'' its the same meathods as using normal finishing plaster soo why dont u just use that, and also ur backing coat is ment to be the level part of the wall since wen do u need to level anything wen scimming a wall

  • It is a joke, right?

  • Since when have you ever known a camera to lie, LOL

  • You have a remarkable technique of 'staring' at a wall into flatness... I must admit, it sounds a lot easier on the back and arm muscles. :-)

    Good one...

  • LOL, Thanks

  • multi finish is alot better. its no quicker usin tht

  • Do people still use Multi-finish?

  • I want to see the hour of vid of you troweling the wall that is missing from this.. nice try though.. lol

  • LOL

  • Very nice work. Please can you tell me the name of this self-leveling plaster that you used? Also, I live in the US. Do you know if this product is available here too?

  • SO YOU DONT NEED A FEATHER EDGE , ???

  • ha ha, next time you're down the merchants buyin this stuff will u get me a new bubble for my level, oh yeah, and some skirting laders and a long wait! lol

  • LOL, It's a little known fact but actually you CAN buy a new bubble for your spirit level, the little glass tube with the liquid and air gap inside is called a bubble and available at many good trade shops, manufatured by Stabila!! Peace.

  • So you just put it on the wall and thats it???

Shit we need that in holland....

  • so whats the name of it???

  • This plaster is amazing , we plastered a 50 square metre ceiling in the stuff all perfectly smooth just lay it on and sit back whilst it levels out, won't be using thistle anymore that's for sure.

  • fuck me you put it on thick you must have used 20 bags on that wall you was putting it on like render

  • I used just over half a bag on this 6 metre wall, it's a 40 kilo bag.

This was a 300 year old French farmhouse stone wall with a few large dents in it and it was covered with the monocouche plaster.

  • I know its a wind up but evenif it wasnt, level isnt the right word. flat, square maybe. and how did gravity push to the side, it was gravity wasnt it that determined the flatness, or did you turn the room upside down.

  • Yes your quite right, I didn't turn the room upside down it was more like on it's side. If you look closely you can see the glue on my shoes holding me down but the hardest part was getting a non slip hawk.

  • You can get it from jewsons i used it the other day. great stuff.

  • And like ripples on a pond, the knowledge is spreading.

  • That looks like the French stuff I used in 2005, a lot harder to work with than thistle, goes off in about 15 mins. Hard to get it this smooth. Not bad.

  • At last a real plasterer who has some knowledge and has tried plaster other than Thistle. Thank you.

  • I finally found a stockist for the plaster, I have been using it for about a week now......ITS BRILLIANT!!!!!!

  • Where from?

  • self levelling plaster, available from travis perkins. Really good stuff , you don't have to be skilled to use it, just lay it on and leave it , come back and it will all be levelled out.

  • What about corner trowels no need for it then?

  • who makes it mate? Also what country is this in. Im from the uk where the greatest plasterers are from. Us and the yanks and irish. lolo

  • is this a wind up? theres no such thing. who,s it by?

  • As there seem to be a few skimmers out there that haven't tried this yet, I will post another video shortly with more detail.

    Thanks for your comments.

  • what a load of crap

  • voo4530, you truly are a bell-end

  • This has got to be a wind up

  • Cool what is the name of the product?

    thanks

  • Just ask your local builders merchant for the new self leveling plaster, good luck!

  • Whilst I'm there I'll get a left handed screwdriver and some striped paint. I searched the web for a self levelling plaster, couldn't find a thing.

  • YO man that's cool, I want some

  • Wow, that's amazing, I wish I could plaster like that!

  • At the Risk of being massively taken in by this, but is it real?

If so whats it called and where can I get it from in the UK?

    Thanks
