  • Is this one Benjamin? I feel so sorry for the creature, not only was it supposedly the last of its kind but it died from neglection in a zoo. ;( At least there have been alleged sightings of Thylacines (even though they haven't been confirmed yet), it gives me hope that the animal could still be alive.

  • :'(

  • Put a rare animal in a cage and see him dying. Very human-ish.

  • Are chupacabras and thylacines the same thing? This looks like pictures of a chupacabra I've seen on the Internet.

  • los humanos somos unos (todas las groserias habidas y por haber) al extinguir a los animales

  • Animals Go Extinct. Its what they do. 99.999999...% of all the species that have ever existed have gone extinct. HUMANS... will probably go extinct. That just happens. Cool animal, but thats just nature. You could look at it as a form of the circle of life. Even species of animal and plant are born, and eventually die. Kind of beautiful, if you think about it.

  • @willifeared While I agree with what you said, I must point out that Thylacines didn't go extinct by natural cause; they were over-hunted by humans.

  • I read thais this was a cross between a dog and a kangaroo, so couldnt it be possible to make more?

  • The last tasmanian tiger filmed with the 1st ever camera..lol..But really..this is some amazing footage..Now we have to go to that hole in the middle of the earth to find another one like this. It still lives on somewhere.

  • And soon there won't be any actual tigers left in the wild.

"Grandpa, were there actually cats that big?"

  • beautiful animal, in color it might be more beautiful . like ones said maybe they are not completely gone, life is the eternal mystery, but we humans are so bad ...

  • clonation

  • its messed up how they were poached into extinction.

  • And that's why i hate hunters..... everytime i see one its like i wanna shoot them... i think some hunters hunt because they like killing but killing is ilegal thats why they kill animals... too BAD i wish hunters go to lucifer's hell

  • @flare178 lol your retarded. Theres a big difference in why the thyalcine was hunted into extinction and why people hunt today. Educate youself before your make assumptions. You know what happens when you assume right?

  • que pena el ultimo

  • i hope there be more

  • They're not completely gone, but theres like less than 50 of them. They live in Australia

  • fuckin rednecks

  • There Wallis be more

  • I don't believe it qas the last one. theres got to be more.

  • so very cute

  • sad

  • thats a fucking dog dude deeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiimmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!!!

  • @mofo2408 It looks a lot like a dog, but it was actually a marsupial -- an animal that raises its young in a pouch, like a kangaroo.

The thylacine's canine appearance was a result of what biologists call convergent evolution. The animal was a predator at the top of the food chain, so it evolved a form similar to other top predators like wolves and big cats.

  • @mofo2408 IDIOTA, ES UN ANIMAL QUE LA HUMANIDAD SE HIZO CARGO DE EXTINGUIR!!

  • @mofo2408 that what ,ate darn a tiger! :p

  • its sad that there are no more ;-; such amazing animals

  • Spine chilling.

  • heres something. what if they fled underground and only come out at night. and stay far away from cities

  • such impressive teeth....

  • I think it would have been better to have just left them alone. Oh well, we can't leave anything be.

  • Only capture one there are huge empty areas we arent loking

  • If I find one or two or three I will catch them, breed them and I will also take care of them when they have like 30 pups I will release them in the wild keeping the secret to myself if someone found out media will go wildfire.

  • where can i buy one of these to keep as a pet?

  • you do know thats a retarded question to ask

  • keep my pet in your mouth

  • es injusto que desapareciera por la culpa de los humanos, los animales no se merecen eso :(

  • mmmmm me dio pena ver este video... somos los unicos culpables

  • es tan lindoo... aunq se dice q fue peligroso.. ...

me gustaria q no uviece muertoo... =[

  • would keep the burglars out

  • the last 1 was in 1937. get your facts right

  • I think it's entirely possible for the thylacine to still be alive. We're discovering animals all the time. It could just be so severely hunted there's only a few left so it's hard to find them. I really hope there's more of these magnificent animals out there. I would love to see one.

  • yeah. people killed these exotic animals for the furs.

  • They also killed these animals because the govt passed down laws to hunt the Tasmanian tigers because its killing the farmers livestock.I don't know which country it was but I do remember its environment is in the Tasmanian island which is at Australia.

  • How did the last Thylacine die??? This animal was simply beautiful!! They looks cute with their big yawny mouths :D

  • well, it was because of the carelessness of the zoo keeper.. It was summer during the last days of the tiger at the hobart zoo and the tiger was kept outside in the sun for days and was not provided with much attention. Unfortunately, this lead to its death. :(

  • its partly true

but u cant just blame the white people

    its basically every1s fault

    we all are humans

  • this super animas is gone... what, why is an horror! (sorry my english)

  • do you think it's funny? asshole

  • hopelesslywithouthumor

  • wow yall in the bottom of me how bout yall visit planet earth sumtime? yall are human stupid.

  • Cool critter, ashame they're extinct.

  • Humans are the scum of the earth!

  • Im with you on that.

  • poor thing...

  • yes they did ,no more full tassie aboriginals left mate, and look at the conditions of the enclosure, gee i wonder why she died..sad very sad

  • yeah hopefully with cloning its not gone forever

  • Shame such a cool animal is gone forever.

  • @J50143 yeah until it maules your face off

  • Godspeed Tasmanian Tiger...

  • well done on the video, great job. do by any chance know of a web site that has an online game based on the tylacine suitable for children to learn about this great creature? please respond if u can, thanks.

  • exticnt

  • we need to preseve it! I am doing a talk on them and sorry to Aboriginies but your ancestors actually ate them too! We are sick and wrong and I don't know about any of you guys, but I want to find them!

  • It would have been nice if the film was shot in sound and color. I wonder what tasmanian tigers would've sounded like? Probably they howled like wolves?

  • Apparently, they sounded much like dogs do. Colour film wasn't very accessible & affordable at the time, especially for a naturalist.

  • us humans dont deserve this stuff!! we are the animals our selvs!! dont you see what were doing? over a little damn money were putting such amazing creatures to exstinction! I SHOULD BE THE ONE THAT GOT HUNTED! NOT THE THYLACINES!! :'(

  • actualy they werent killed for money they were killed because the people of the time believed they had ties with the devil.

and that they feasted on the guts of humans.

the werent just killed by hunters, what would have been the government at the time put out an order that if you saw one you had to kill it by any means necisary,

  • they did fucking idiot.. the government payed them by the number of thylacines they killed.. and yes they was killed by hunters.. 'BOUNTY HUNTERS'..

  • wtf? i was telling you something. why get so annoyed about it? i didnt have a go at you did i

i wasnt a prick about it

and there are reasons i have hater comments on my page. and half of them have apologizedfor misunderstanding my comments....kinds the way you just did. the other half were people i had arguements with for flaming people for no reasons. so why dont you read my comments properly

    ass

  • dude everyone check vincento5301's page and look at what a fucking fool he is.. he thinks he knows what he's talking about but actully makes hiself look like the biggest idiot ever.. you actully are but atleast dont show it even on the internet..

  • oh and if your gonna insult me on my page why dont you do it properly like say things that COULD be true. i am not 40 lol

    i am 16

and i find it funny when people insult my mum because i know you wouldnt say it to her face so thats kinda funny. oh and i DID read what i said. and i heard it on a video here on youtube. so get YOUR facts rite and actualy read my comments. because i didnt say a single thing that deserved the amount you just flamed me.

p.s id like to see you try and bust me.

  • i will bust you dickhead.. you think i wont?? think again old man.. and yes, i will say it to you're 80 year old mom.. what she gonna do?? beat me with her walking stick? run me over with her wheelchair?? and you did have a go at me.. if you didn't (witch you did) it sounded like you did..

  • but its not the fact that you was being a total dick to me.. its the fact that you was 100% wrong and you was acting like I was the one thats wrong..

  • vincento5301, they were hunted to extinction because they were perceived to be a threat to livestock, namely sheep and poultry. The government also never put out a kill-order on them, but there was a well documented bounty paid for their carcasses.

There are no recorded cases of them preying on humans, and as far as I'm aware, the Tasmanian Aborigines did not consider them a threat to humans either.

  • ok

but i only said what i heard.

it was on a video on youtube

    cant remember what its called

it was an interview with a cryptozoologist.

  • ironically the Tasmanian Aboriginals also fell prey to similiar genocide

  • They weren't really similar at all. At least, not in motivation or action, but the results were almost the same. Fortunately, unlike the thylacine, the indiginous population didn't get entirely wiped out.

    But that's another subject entirely.

  • well, their language is only preserved on vinyl and the last known tasmanian aboriginal died in the 1910's so i guess you could call them extinct

  • CHRISHELMS the last one died in 1937 in a zoo in tasminea

  • i think you're confusing your tale with the tasmanian devil. i was in tasmania and we were told that hunters killed these animals because they were killing sheep, so just out of the same reasons of why wolves were brought to extinction in europe..

  • that is true i just learnt that

  • i just find it so sad that people had to kill these babies :(

  • I wish I could see one in this day and age. They look really cool.

  • ur mother cares

  • well you seem very clever...such a simple solution... they wouldn't survive underground IDIOT!

  • the poor thing...

  • Their not extinct, trust me

  • You know this how?

I never trust anyone who simply says "trust me".

  • The Tasmanian Tiger/Thylacine Was one of the most distictive animals the worlds come to see... The Tiger wolf was such a wonderful animal...damn humans always end up killing things.

  • The Thylacine is such an awesome creature! it's like a Zebra/Kangaroo/lion/panther/ding/hyena lookin thing! and it can open its mouth so big! *0*! truely magnificant! 2 bad they had 2 go extinct ):!

  • If there was at least was 2 of them plus 'Ben' in 1936, by now there could be like 20 or more

  • Unfortunately it takes more than 2 for a population to be maintained or grow. They would be so inbred that survival would be impossible.

  • imagine being the last of your species alive....

  • if you watch closely when the Thylacine is walking its stripes will seem to vanish... it is a sad loss though, wish it still had a healthy population so we could see these beautful creatures

  • i see it

  • if seeing is believing.

    then i saw one.

  • walking on the side of the highway.

    in the kimberleys WA.

  • its not..

  • This may sound crazy but maybe the Thylacine has adapted to live underground, because most sightings are seen near the old mine in Tasmania and The Thylacine could sleep, eat, breed down there and come to the surface to get food.

  • im doing a project on this

  • I guess it is good they did not clone the Thylacine because it could have been very sick and weak like Dolly the sheep was .The Thylacine still does exist and there is proof of that they are alive just read Magnificent survivor .Type Magnificent survivor out on the web and its a free book u can print.

  • I've read it. It's just a bunch of unsupported claims. A lot of people make plenty of unsupported claims about the thylacine, often contradicting each other, but none of it is proven.

  • cool!!

  • you know moatguy, you might be right, it can be possible if ther still alive. and by the way, never heard of a bridled nailtail wallaby, why was they hunted?

  • what the tasy government sgould do is offer 25 million for anyone who prove the existence of tasy tigers that will attract nature nuts from all over the world

  • Well long ago the Bridled nailtail wallaby used to be found all the way down Eastern Australia from North Queensland down into Victoria. But just like the Thylacine bounties were put on the heads of them. The bridled nailtail wallaby was thought to be extinct for a long time but was found in Dingo Queensland recently. So remember,if animals are thought to be extinct they may surprise you.

  • so sad.

  • nah i understand that, animals that outlive, survivers and all that but like, i dont actully beleive thylacines are still breathing on this earth :( ever bounty hunter and farmer killed every single one of them 100's a day

  • That's what people thought about the bridled nailtail wallaby when it had been killed by bounty hunters. It was thought to be extinct before the thylacine was and it's not.

  • Well there have been lots of sightings of Tasmanian Tigers reported by people.

  • I am sorry to say that was scrapped in 2005 because the DNA found in all the Thylacine pups were to fragmented to work with. Bad luck! :(

  • Well even if they didnt have grass its a reserch they didnt know they were gunna go exstint and plus think of the last animal if it lived in the wild it still wouldnt be better unless their were more kinds of its type

  • No wonder why the ones in the Zoos died... :(

They were in such smll cages, it's unbeleivable any animals in Zoos could srvive. They didnt even have grass.....

  • go vegan.

  • so all say "BYEBYE THYLACINES WERE ALL GONA MISS YOU" and blow a kiss and cry

  • You never know. A lot of animals belived to be extinct have surpised us.

  • by the way, you all heard about the thylacine clone thing right? we failed on that one too, the DNA and cells wor too weak and ETC, we cant make a clone its too late for these poor animals

  • they hav such bueatyful eyes

  • they're not extinct, I just beleive they are just supremely endangered

  • the last tasmalian tiger is ty no one esle

  • are u crazy??? ther gone forever dumbass no more tasmanian tigers ther gone forever (EXSTINCT)

  • How do you explain all the sightings of them?

  • same way you explain all the sighting of bigfoot...

    ppl have a wild imagination.

  • We have no evidence That Bigfoot ever exsited. We have this footage of Tasmanian Tigers and we have had more sightings. Second of all many animals thought to be extinct have surprised us. The celocanth was thought to be extinct. The Gilbet,s pottaroo was thought to be extinct. The bridled nailtail wallaby was thought to be extinct. And guess what? People found them all alive.

  • que hocicote, esta mas bonito mi perro

  • heard that they were going to try and clone it some day

  • why do all the cool animals always become exsticnt

  • Such a beautiful creature.

  • I love thylacine. But when they open their mouths...creepy.

  • Wow, Beautiful Animal..

  • porque le dicen tigre? no parece felino:S!, cagada ke se extinguiera..parece mas un can..

  • vidos and images are all we are going to have of lions and other animals if we dont take care of this fucked up world.

  • Hunted to extinction.

When Poms introduced farming to Tasmania, the tigers started eating their sheep. So someone had the great idea to kill all of them.

  • beauitful creature, how did it die?

  • Looks a bit like a dog. A pity their extinct now, would be cool to see the pups!

  • They are a dog and a tiger like mix. No record of the pups being recorded. So sad

  • Scientifically speaking their extinction is still up for debate. Some zoologists claim that they are only functionally extinct, which means there are some left, but not enough to properly breed. As for there being no pups recorded, thylacines didn't mate in captivity, it was just unheard of. However, if most of today's sightings are hoaxes, then the thylacine is sadly biologically extinct.

  • predatorgirl, how old are you?? venomisblood, calims to be only 14 but yet sounds much more intelligent and articulate than you. u better be younger than 14 or you should be ashamed of yourself. youtube is definately not forum for REAL adult conversation.. if you thought that predatorgirl, then u really are ignorant aren't you?

  • Parts of Tassie are so impenetrable that no modern human foot has ever have trod. This leaves into question are they really extinct? I have heard of recent sightings, but if I saw one, I would never go public. Imagine all the idiots out there looking for it if there was solid evidence? Whatever may have survived would quickly be destroyed by greedy people. My grandfather used to claim that dogs would cower when they were around.

  • It looks like two different animals joined in the middle! It feels sad to see the last of the line pacing round a cage.

  • What a bummer it was a choice looking beast

  • pomes vs yanks, now this is sumthen i godda see hell im just the aussie looken up the animal of what i thought i seen last week in tasmania

  • I am not saying anything nasty at all. I am just 'stepping the line' a little bit and you really are the brat if you think this site is for adults as I know a few adults on this site who far less mature than me. like you.

  • VENOMISINMYBLOOD Wrote:

  • Hey id like screw ur brains out ...

  • venomisinmyblood

may be small, may be young but i am smarter than most americans (english humor usa. wouldn't understand)and religious people. / I don't understand you point, it seemed your an idiot messing with people on YouTube. But I guees you need some lessons. Don't You Fuck Face.

  • look who's the idiot; you spelled GUESS wrong

  • It does not look like a tiger just because it has stripes and it's not a wolf it doesn't have the face. It's more likely it looks like the cousine the Tasmanain Devil exept the face of Thylacine is longgated muzzle. It also they say the female that they had there had a pouch like the Tasmanian Devil.

    look it up in google.

  • This is a fact : every day a total of 50 species of animal become extinct. Terrible isn't it.

It is mainly the human races fault.

  • its mouth is abosolutely HUGE! i reminds me more of an ant-eater than a tiger in any way..

if all the honey bees die i think ill die with them.

    honey is my life..

  • this is taken from the ARKive website, look it up on google for more footage

  • lots more extinctions to come if we don't get to solving these problems pronto. I just heard the honey bees are starting to die off in huge numbers in America. If that happens you can say goodbye to strawberries, honey, and a host of other foods!

  • I heard they gave up on the Tasmanian Tiger cloning. They said it was too complicated, and that the DNA was too old and dry, or whatever.

  • I wonder what its like to be the last of your species..

  • hundreds of lonely nights with your good pal handymackenzy

  • I hear they're trying to bring the Tasmanian Wolf back through some cloning process. Be really cool if they did.

  • Yes, they have dog-like traits and were often called 'Tasmanian Wolf'. Perhaps their best-known feature is the large jaw-span. Supposedly, this camerman was bitten on the butt!

  • looks like a Tasmanian divel/dog

  • CUUTE! <33

  • whats with it's Zebra ass?

  • shame on the men who hunted them

  • So sad, it had to die in captivity. Maybe there was a mate out there for it. It would sure find it before man would have. Tasmania's beauty has been largely raped to profit a small number of people. The destruction is continuing apace.

  • There's an animal very similar to this running around in Michigan... pontiac I think. :P
