  • In 2012, the 2.2 cent per KwHour for wind power goes away in the USA.

Just as the solar market collapsed in the USA so shall wind power collapse in 2012 once the subsidy is removed. If you want to reduced CO2, then nuclear is the only ECONOMICAL option out there... People you have been lied to about green energy. Time to re-examine what you have been told is the truth...

  • @nlpjohn -- You are 100% correct. Wind turbines are NOT environmentally friendly. The rare earth elements needed to produce these things are creating massive toxic wastelands, ruining good farmland and destroying wildlife and migratory bird paths. Not to mention that they're an unreliable energy source.

  • That looks so green to me, Its amazing how these greeny idiots actually believe this is green energy. Green is nature and this has fuck all to do with nature sorry to bust your green bubbles idiots.

  • @martcerv -- The only true way to be green is through conservation. Not by building these ugly behemoths that are unreliable, expensive and only have a lifespan of 15 to 20 years. There are over 14000 abandoned wind turbines in the States now. Can you imagine 20 years from now??? People are so easily sold by the word "green". Your statement is correct.

  • It costs so much because it doesn't work. Its about political greed and coruption. Had a solar company open with a $500 million government fund-After the political band wagon passed by the solar plant closed shop laid off 5000 workers and left to China. Green Greed. If it worked it wound be cheap & lots of it,

  • Why does green energy cost so dam much if it works!

  • I LOVE WIND TURBINES XXX

  • Does this help

keine Ahnung von dem was er schreibt aber seine Meinung hier präsentieren. genau wie die meisten Leute die seiner Meinung sind.

  • newmanfrigan? Wind is not a reliable sourse of power,& scientits DO NOT agree, You want one go for it, But I want a reliable sourse and one I can pay for,P.C. correct science is a lie,Go back to school you "retarded kids" You have no clue to the science in power creation. Man can't change the climent- Like fles on a dog- & you newmanfuckin are fle shit,& just as useful.

  • @hillberg100

Actually, wind farms are located in areas where wind has some sort of frequency. You're not going to get a maximum output of electricity every day, but you'll always get more some - way more efficiently than with gas.

Yes, people can't change the climate, but people can exploit it to the best of their abilities in order to conserve resources. Whats wrong with that?

  • @ehnogi conserving resources by destroying the environment and building monstrous steel structures that kill wildlife, need a backup power station running at all times for when the wind doesn't blow. I wonder why it costs so much to spend millions building this crap?????????

  • @martcerv

... No. You don't conserve resource by destroying the environment. You find already uninhabited plains/valleys that have consistent high winds and build "monstrous steel structures" that don't kill wildlife (because there were none there in the first place) requiring a back-up solar-powered station running for when wind doesn't blow.

It costs millions to build, but the cost efficiacy is much higher than that of a power plant. Don't be afraid of change; historically, it isn't bad.

  • @hillberg100 -- People are so easily sold by the word "green" when they have absolutely no idea what they're agreeing to. The sad thing is that they're all just lemmings waiting to be the next one to jump off that cliff. Wind turbines are an assault against land, nature, people and the environment.

  • Anyone who thinks wind farms are ugly and should be dismanted are 1000% retarded. You do realize these "ugly" wind farms give us nigh-UNLIMITED energy and they do NOTHING harmful to the enviorment. Wind power all they way.

  • @NANOFORGE -- You don't know what the hell you're talking about. Do a little research before being such a mindless lemming, ready to jump off the cliff just because you hear the word "green". Wind turbines require a rare earth element. In order to extract that element from the ground, toxic wastelands are being created, destroying what was once farmland. In addition, they kill wildlife, disrupt migratory birdpaths and only have a life expectancy of 15 to 20 years. Then what??

  • @AdLaura Oh dear lord, I posted that comment nearly a year ago and you call me a mindless lemming....Get out more kid.

  • @NANOFORGE -- Oh good. I take from your comment that you've

'seen the light' with regards to IWT's. Very good. My work here is done. Carry on.

  • @AdLaura Correct, I'm not sure why you did'nt realise this.

  • Upon showing this video to all, it might influence others to use the natural energy that we can simply get for free to which many are not aware of. This is a good way to enlighten others that there are other sources of electricity without any side effects to the health of people.

  • Tech Junk,Make you feel good but like jerkin off It only makes a mess, FRP after its service life is hazzardous waste, with UV /cyclic stress the life will be around 10 years before failure. UGLY, STUPID, and without subs from govmt-It would go no where. Al Gore laughes all the way to the bank ,Go ahead Belive in Global Bull shit-Your Paying for it...

  • @hillberg100 Like a holocaust denier. Pure moronic FOX AM TeabagNutSagzNOballsSUCKSdirtycumwiperSOX-hypnotism. Yes. All ALL climate scientists...ALL SCIENTISTS...agree on Anthro.Climate-Change. FuckOFF!

  • It's time to end this totally unscientific and uneconomical fascination with wind power.

Get rid of the government subsidies, Renewable Energy Certificates, generous tax write offs, and forced buy backs by the utilities which we pay for in hidden fees on our electric bills, and no one would even think of building a wind turbine. Their sales are down 72% year to date in the U.S., the lowest since 1966. DO NOT ALLOW ONE TO BE BUILT NEXT TO YOUR HOME. NOISE. NOISE. NOISE.

    Nat gas is plentiful.

  • @1bfunusa Right on! You said it very well. And while we're at it, get rid of the unscientific notion of global warming. Call it instead for what it is: glow-bulls*it. Plug in "h" for the *, above, and you have the term. :)

  • Sono bellissime 5*****

  • Free energy has been here all along ,But a few ppl make too many billions from our energy needs to let this technology be known,Find the real deal, a free energy device at LT-MAGNET-MOTORdotCOM ,Let the revolution begin!

  • The music is fine but I live within a mile of one of these noise makers and you may go crazy like I have. The sound doesn't need to be loud for a continuous whoop whoop whoop to send your stress and anxiety levels soaring. I, before living 1662 feet from turbine 1 in Falmouth, MA 02540 was for wind energy. Now I think it sucks. In 15 years these machines will be dinosaurs. We should invest in some reliable energy. DO NOT allow them within a mile of your home. Value your health and sanity. BAF

  • @1bfunusa They are already dinosaurs. The wind energy turbine manufacturers are either broke or going broke. The reality has hit some. This teck-JUNK-nology grew out of the hippies in the 60. The pot smoking/cokers thought they had the answers. This goes along with biofuel. They are also broke or going broke. Bottom line is turbines can't produce enough electricity to compete with traditonal methods.

  • Conversion of wind energy into electrical energy is the fastest growing industry in the world. It is estimated that in the near future 20% of energy in the US will be generated from the power of the wind. Also renewable energy sources such as wind power promises employment to millions of people which would be a boost for the economy. Pacific Crest Transformers specializes in the manufacture of energy-efficient transformers and solutions for the wind energy sector.

  • @pacificcresttrans Absolutely NOT TRUE. You are either incredible naive, stupid or just a liar. Go read the Wall Street Journal and biz magazines. They will tell you that the wind turbines are dead, just like biofuel. All those industries are either broke or going broke fast.

  • @pacificcresttrans Wrong, wrong and wrong again. Go do a bit of updated research on these environmental inefficient disasters.

  • Stood under one of these monsters in Ireland recently, had my flip camera ready and took some cool vids. Amazing just to see the size of the blades....uploading today hopefully ...by the way, nice vid !

  • I prefer nuclear power but those are nice too

  • denmark has stopped subsidizing wind turbines because they don't do nearly enough for the money they've put in them. denmark has to use their standard power plants at peak times because of that- I think they even ended up buying electricity from other countries and selling the extra electricity from the turbines at peak times to offset the loss

  • Hamburg !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Where can we get footage of this to use in a video promoting wind energy? Thank you. Denny Beck, Corporate PR Services, Grand Rapids, MI

  • @DziaDziainGR I could provide some footage for download from my website. Please contact me. info@bild-art.de

  • @xeniacolours YOUTUBE: helix wind self-destruct

  • The Wind is free....Converting it to electric is expensive. With over 100.000 turbines on line we still wait for the first coal generator to be closed. Billions spent with little in return.

  • Birds do die because of wind turbines, but not that many. The benefits far outweigh the cons.

  • Wind power is a joke, but who gives a fuck about birds anyway. The are however load as shit.

  • Oh yeah they're just so loud! People need to quit complaining about them.

  • PPD Power Co. :playtime public diversion.

a waste of time and effort employing next to nobody and generating a fraction of the power generated by ANY OTHER source you can name....a land grab by any other name is thievery.

  • Nice

i dpnt understand why people find these so unsightly

  • wind turbines = jetsons

    fossil fuels = flintstones

  • Yeah a WHOPPING 283mw tonight, the coldest spell for 50 years. FAIL.

  • Windfarms rock. Wind is free

  • @kitfoxflyer I do not have a problem with a windfarm provided it is built where there is ALWAYS wind because if there is the slightest chance that no wind conditions may occur, then one needs a backup system based either on coal or nuclear and that is making the overall cost extremely expense - too expensive for the current economic problems in most countries.

  • @kitfoxflyer the turbines, electricity, underground utilities and transmission lines that run hundreds of miles aren't though

  • @tofee35 - yup -- i got wind videos up too

  • These giants will save our planet. We need to have more turbines. At present 1% of our electricty comes from wind. Lets keep moving forward.

  • 40%? I would fact check that if I were you. I don't think it's anything close to that on average. In the UK the avg is 27% land, 26% sea.

They also need backup for when the wind doesnt blow and that means matiching installed capacity with fossil fuel generation so theyre noether cheap or clean. The joke of it is that if you wanted to cut CO2 by 25% you could just pull down existing coal power and replace it with modern coal power.

  • Utter nonsense. The load factors you quote are wrong (you just made them up) and National grid announced this week in a report that 33000MW of new wind power in the UK by 2020 would require another 4000MW of backup; not quite 'matching fossil fuel generation' is it?

Everything you say about wind power is negative, speculative and misleading. You are just another closed mind nimby.

  • I dont have a back yard, I ;live in the city. Wouldnt trusst the national grid as far as I could spit out a rat. After all they stand to make a lot of money from ROC commitments. My data comes form the REF study. The best load factor in the country is 54% and thats pretty abnormal. Golby of EON reckons it will need 100bn of backup. Im all for renewables if they are cost effective and reliable. Wind isnt.

  • Time will tell.....

  • Time has told. Without massive subsidy, nobody would build them.

  • that's with most new technology. In the 70's computers were an expensive joke for academics to play with. Today they run our lives. Those prices came down with numerous grants, research and economies of scale due to gradual adoption.

Just because wind power isn't "the answer" right now, should not mean we should just give it up. That's called halting progress.

  • Your opinion is clearly tainted by that Airbus pie your finger is in.

  • I was an opponent of wind long before then. In fact I first became aware of the scam while working for the UK's biggest wind developer.

  • I agree about subsidies but the fact a wind farm only generates 30% of it's maximum theoretical output doesn't render them useless.

  • Comment removed

  • What are you smoking>?

  • Well I got the statistics off of a U.S. energy website. The reason you cited 27% is because your statistic probably took maintenance and some other factors into account. (although I think that you need to define what energy output actually means) The point that I was trying to make is that a wind turbine working on a macro scale will only put out a peak output of 40% under optimum circumstances...

  • I'm also confused about your comment regarding modern coal power. I suppose you're referencing this idea of "clean" coal, which in essence is a stricter filtration system. This would cost the coal industry billions of dollars to implement this type of system, so it's not really a joke like you claim because it would ramp up the cost of that energy source. If this system were subsidized by the government that would mean that taxes would soar.

  • No I'm not talking about clean coal. But even if I were would the billions be any more than the REC's the bill payer is forking out for wind? over the long term I doubt it and at least you would have performing energy production.

  • Did you not even read what I wrote earlier? You're jumping on me as though I'm an advocate of wind energy. I think I said that wind energy is more of a dream rather than a viable option.

  • no such thing as clean coal. talk about money down a rat hole

  • In terms of CCS I agree. But modern coal is 25% cleaner than old generation. thats an instant saving.

  • Nothing can be manufactured with nothing !.

Go a the jungle & live there !.

But don't "Poop" it will pollute air !.

  • Comment removed

  • I agree in that landfil gas probably doesnt get much value for money but if that doesnt then wind certainly doesn't. Besides the point though. the ROC is a totally absurb ripoff. But anyway, I dont want the whole of our countryside plastered with turbines.

  • And I 'm saying 40% is way too optimistic. 27% is the output against its installed capacity. most aren't even that good. But even if you're right, 40% still doesn't make them economically viable.

  • Yea but imagine if you were driving down a road in 2098 and there were no trees and nothing but wind machines everywhere. fucking creepy if you ask me

  • crappy on gas mileage too

  • all the places I've seen wind farms are in agricultural farms. so there's no trees anyway.

  • the windfarm in Mojave CA and Palm Springs sure has blighted up the land , real eyesore, some are 250 feet tall with 100 foot prop blades,GE build most of them,GE own CNN and CNN is always running adds for wind power , a conflict of intrest, all future wind mills must be built in someone elses back yard , we got enough ugly blight here !!!

  • and i suppose you'd prefer a gas or coal plant with smoke and other shit tearing up the landscape?

  • Yes, smog is much more attractive. The best part of my morning drive is watching the smoke stacks from a coal plant majestically pumping out tons of crap into our atmosphere. Oh and the nuclear power plant in Chernobyl has done wonders for the aesthetics of the area.

  • Comment removed

  • Why are you getting mad at me?!?! I'm agreeing with you.

I'm glad that you have prepared yourself for an energy crisis with renewable energy sources like diesel fuel and propane gas. All these wind energy supporters are going to look pretty stupid when the world's wind supply run out.

  • Ya, I suppose you're right. Let's just not try to fix the problem of fossil fuel use at all. Solar energy is a joke even though nearly all the high energy bonds formed within fossil fuels originated from solar energy. I apologize. Just what was I thinking?

  • your not smart

  • GE used to own NBC, not CNN. And GE is working to sell NBC to Comcast.

  • Great video! Five star!

What's the music which playing in the background?

  • It' Fire Dance by Brian Kean..

  • thanks! :3

  • yes, great, like watching your washing machine at work

  • I want one in my backyard...

  • me twwooo!!! i was like ...it has a door, damn i'm gonna live in it!!

  • Haha!

  • theres a hundred or so of these just south of chicago ill in nw indiana along highway 55 looks inpresive when your drive by at night and the red lights on top all blink in unison

  • @jshurd I was riding north on hwy 41 on my bike, had to pull over and watch for awhile. The white blades contrasted with the gray cloudy sky that day.

  • The problem is how to store wind energy.

  • not only, there are multiple other problems, as for me wind energy is completle not cost-effective

  • mongello, its selfish attitudes like yours that are the problem. what is more important to you? your pocketbook, your sleep patterns, or creating a sustainable environment for your children? who cares how much money you have when the air you breath is polluted, you'll end up paying for medical treatments. get sound proof walls in your bedroom so you can sleep, and deal with the changing times. years of those selfish attitudes like yours is the reason why we have to act quick.

  • i love on the coast of california and id love it if they put up these bad boys in the ocean instead of the oil platforms :p

  • They're here, and we're gonna put more of 'em up. Protest Coal Power if you're gonna protest. Wind Turbines are clean energy. We have a radio station in Denver, 99.5 the Mountain, that runs on wind power.

  • look into algae biofuel, its something to do with those combustion engines we all use

  • clean energy is the way to a clean enviornment

  • Why do some people find these aesthetically offensive. I think they are beautiful. A testament to our ingenutiy and appropriate harnessing of earth's energy.

  • Because these, THINGS are GOING to be put up next door to our beautiful, pretty village which has a junior school and little shops as well. When you sell your house, the value of it dramatically falls, meaning no money, the height of the proposed turbines are 126m high, higher than the Humber Bridge!!! electricity bills go up, all pylons will stay and the noise disrupts your sleep patterns, thats why all our village is fighting against them!!!

  • I don't know where you live, but by me and eslwhere in the US where they were shot down, these THINGS were going to be miles off shore.

  • Sounds like your village just likes to complain. lol

  • Nice film. I've got a few amusing anti-NIMBY films in my account. Check 'em out.

  • beautiful. no more nuclear energy! smart energy only please.

  • both are necessary because the environment changes.. you never know when the wind will stop for a length of time.. same with solar energy

  • Nuclear energy does not pollutes air like conventional power plants and gives performance at every time. The problem of nuclear wastes can be solved by transmute them in fast reactors and they will be usable again in thermical reactors. That power plant in Chernobil was an old construction called RBMK. But there are no one of them produced in the world, every modern reactors are PWR, BWR and CANDU typed reactors. So do not worry!

  • Another reason to say this because when you make electricity from wind turbines the frequency and the performance are vibrating in the power grid when a turbine is connecting and disconnecting to the grid. You have to build conventional power plants next to the wind turbines to compensate the same performance into the grid btw I'm not against wind turbines but the future is for nuclear plants. Wind wheels are really useful for houses to recharge your batteries or do st like that.

  • i agree with you 100% but when the nuclear fuzion comes out we will have unlimited, totaly safe ,totaly clean, almost to cheap to measure electricity.

  • why are you so sure that it will be cheap (cheap energy is what the world needs and yes nuclear energy is cheap), technically its possible to build a nuclear fusion reactor that provides more energy than it consumes, but it would of a giantic size and completle not cost effective

  • in 50 years you will have a fusion plant near your home. Trust me!

  • did you know that buildings kill more birds than windturbines do?

  • Absolutely, they do studies before they erect these to make sure the bird population isn't harmed.

  • Not always. In my area they are putting up a bunch and the research isn't even done for it yet and they plan to dig this summer.

  • did you know the studies are funded by wind turbine companies?

  • did you know that shit comes out of your ass?

  • Yes, but that is because there are way more buildings. just wait until these things start popping all over the place like fast food joints.

  • did you know there are more buildings than wind turbines?

  • @theholycows right but not as much bads

  • If the blades of these wind turbines move so slowly, then how can people protest the installation of wind turbines based on the argument that migrating birds will get caught in them and die?

  • This is another myth brought up by those who are against this clean renewable energy.

  • Ohhh it gets better. Here in Washington, people claim that the "shadow flicker" from the windmill causes epilepsy.

  • OMG..now that is something I call "Utter Bullshit" XD

  • They spent 5 years fighting the Kittitas Valley Wind Power Project, about 12 miles west of Ellensburg, WA. It's our third wind farm in the state and has a capacity of 181.5 MW. I have driven by the proposed area. The wind blows all the time and there are a couple of homes and mostly cattle ranches.

  • why don' they have winglets like planes often do?

  • Hello...

that great,, i work in wind turbines (REpower PortuGaL)..

    it's a funny joB..

  • Majestic

  • What song?

  • It's Brian Keane - Fire Dance

  • Awesome video, really pleasant and gives you a real good idea of what they're like up close. I've never actually been close to one in my life :<

  • mytube8488: Agreed. Maybe the location of marginal areas of wind production is in closer proximity to existing power grids thereby reducing the environmental impact on the surrounding area that alot of people seem to have issues with. Obviously you are much better educated on this subject than me.

  • *commercial version

  • Comment removed

  • If you are running a privately owned turbine in your yard already how can a commercial not be viable there?

  • All the ranting I see on these wind-turbine videos sounds like alot of NIMBY to me. I presently only have solar in use as an alternative but we MUST use all available resources. Perhaps we should equip the millions of cattle in this country with methane recovery units. It would be a 3 way advantage. Less pollution, virtually free gas and no deafening wind turbine noise. hmm, cowmufflers...

  • Comment removed

  • mytube8488: All your critical remarks about wind power don't get to the core of the matter, fact is that it's renewable energy, environmentally sound, cost-effective, almost 100% reliable with operation times of 65-80% depending on location.Another myth is noise,

A modern wind farm about 750-1,000 feet away is no noisier than a refrigerator or a fairly quiet room.

  • xeniacolours:Your right about location. Windturbines in less that the best locations cost us all money and energy. The Horicon Marsh Wildlife Area in Wisconsin is not an environmentaly sound site. In most locations wind power is not finacialy viable without subsides. Solar was more reliable for me in my 4 year test. My video on wind turbine noise levels speaks for itself. 1300feet=increase from 28to42dbs. Developers Info. Maybe theres something wrong with your fridge:)?

  • Comment removed

  • xeniacolours: People at windcows com are only trying to protect the investments in their homes and property in order to provide well being for their familys future. Most wind power objections are due to site locations such as the Horicon Marsh Wildlife Refuge area or 500 feet from homes/property as in Stephenson County,Illinois. In Wisconsin the best wind is along the lake shore. Poor site locations cost us all tax money and energy. Being efficient is a big part of being "GREEN".

  • In Illinois there are wind farms being built in class 2-3 wind (12.5-15.7 mph at 50 meters). The common Suzlon 2MW or 2000 watt Turbine produces about 150-400 kilowatts at that average wind speed. Far less than the 2000 kilowatts for which it is rated and promoted. The windindustry is ripping off American tax payers when it promotes these types of low wind area developments in Illinois. Info from the Illinois wind resource map and the Suzlon web site.

  • xeniacolours:Sure, there are other options besides commercial wind power plants. How about giving the 100's of millions of dollars in subsidies and tax benifits given to corporate wind to individual home owners for personal solar systems instead.Ive ran solar and wind at my home for the past 4 years.Check out my video-wind vs. solar my experience.

  • Profound! Thanks StarFires.

  • windcows com

  • There are lot of dubious statements on this windcows site it's unbelievable there are still ignorant people objecting to renewable energies - where is the alternative?? any answer??

  • Wind turbines work, last amout 25 years, and payback their embedded energy between 30 and 80 times over. Clive, Didcot power Station.

  • I recently saw a news article titled Wind turbines do not reduce emissions. The basis of the argument was that new legislation restricts dangerous emissions and therefor emissions would be reduced anyway. It went on to state that wind turbines kill bats and other birds. The article completely left out any side effects of coal mining, nuclear or other sources. Nor did it consider the number of birds being killed by windows, automobiles, airplanes and kites.

  • All the false and misleading claims the wind industry makes for itself work to disguise the fact that it is only a nominal producer of electricity in the eastern US. Its primary purpose is to provide extraordinary tax and income sheltering opportunities for a few wealthy investors at the expense of average taxpayers and rate payers. On a per kilowatt hour basis, wind is the most heavily subsidized source of industrialized power in the nation.

  • The energy consumption for production, installation, operation and decommission of a wind turbine is usually earned back within 3 months of operation.

When the wind industry first began to develop in California in the early 1980s, wind-generated electricity cost 38¢ per kilowatt-hour. Since then it has dropped to 4¢ or less in prime wind sites.. By 2020, many European wind farms will be generating electricity at 2¢ per kilowatt-hour, making it cheaper than all other sources of electricity

  • good job!

  • Really very nice, I liked the surprising addition of the special effects and the choice of music is perfect! You bring out the beauty of these naturalistic machines.

  • I can't understand why a power company would spend their money building a coal or nuclear powered plant, which requires fuel and labor to operate.

  • The reason for this is that here in Europe there are only few big power companies which control the energy market. They own huge power plants and make good profits. So renewable energy e.g. from wind turbines is not welcome as those wind farms are usually operated by small companies or even private people. Fortunately in Germany the power companies are forced by law to allow all those renewable energy suppliers to use their power supply lines and to pay a fixed price for this energy.

  • Beautifully shot, composed and edited. I also love these machines and no matter how many they build there will never be enough.

  • Nice video, looks like you are experimenting with some new software...plenty of effects but nicely done.

They are 2MW (2000Kw not 200) i`d love to see the 5000Kw versions that they are starting to use offshore in germany. Imagine something 2.5 times bigger than the turbine you shot!

  • Thanks a lot for your comment and for correcting that crucial detail, of course it is 2 MegaWatts. As I live next door to these turbines I will take some shots in different weather conditions soon...

  • Nice film, love the superimposed shots - and an good homage to renewable energy.

  • very nicely shot.

  • These machines are enormous;but they look so graceful.Superb video!!

  • Excellent. Amazing beautiful giants.
