The best thing ever was when I made a creature and got him to the space age, and then my brother tried, but kept getting killed by an epic version of my creature :D

Yup, I learned that very soon after making this. o.o; I might have still had the mini bombs though when this took place. I'm apparently very bad at raising money in the space stage. ^_^;
How in the world were you able to stand up against it throwing fireballs at you? One hit from a fire ball and my ship always went down.
Also, I have a video of killing an epic in Civilization Stage using a Gadget Bomb. Also, I don't see how spamming tanks could take down an epic. Although now I'm tempted to try.
I have all the health upgrades for the ship, and I believe I had the mega laser too so it died faster.
As for Civilization Stage, I haven't actually tried it yet, as I can't get a freaking epic to spawn in that stage, but I would think it would fall to a large armada of planes like everything else does. I'm usually generating enough spice though that I can replace vehicles for combat as soon as they're destroyed though so that probably helps a bit.
Alright, I went back to my saved game and tried a bunch of tanks and then a bunch of planes. I guess you're right, it totally works. I uploaded videos of both if you're interested.
I never tried using bombs on more or less anything in civilization stage. I have never found a single problem that can't be solved by spamming vehicles.
Having said that I haven't killed an epic in civilization stage, because the only one to appear was killed off by NPCs before it even got to me. It walked through their city, and the turrets got them. On the bright side there city was mostly destroyed, and easy to conquer.
I thought spore was gonna be like pure creature stage, but I realized that half the game is the other stages, and the other half is this space stage. very disappointing.

@bobplatypus Oh yes, that happened to my roommate a couple of times.
Granted on other planets I ran into epics of his.
But I am kill epics.

He turned around and an epic John from planet George squashed him as he screamed (irl and in game)

You should use the bombs instead, you can throw out bombs fast enough that it never even gets a chance to spit a fireball at you.

there are usually 1-2 in every continent. I had about 6 on all of my planets.

Everyone has different tastes on what they like. Spage Stage is probably my least favorite stage, but I have enjoyed it.
I just hate the freaking Grox so much. I didn't want a spectacular space showdown dang it. :/
